That's the bit I can't get my head around, with our team and list we shouldn't have squeeze for spots. Sure we have some good young players but so do all clubs.

We've drafted a LOT of kids over the last 3 years. They haven't got to the point yet where we're making decisions about whether or not to cut them. Most of them have already been re-contracted, and those who haven't (Gollant & O'Connor) would be expected to be priority signings right now.

The only "easy delist" players we have now are on the rookie list. Presumably the club would be looking at moving 1-2 players like Lynch or Walker, who only have 1 year left before retirement, to the rookie list - thereby freeing up positions on the senior list.

We have three valuable picks at the draft (one first and two seconds) and we have to upgrade Butts this year onto the senior list. So at minimum I would expect four changes to the senior list.

This means four of our uncontracted senior list players have to go. Unless the AFL expands lists

Newchurch I agree. Borlase though isn't a long term project player and really is the bottom of the heap for a type of player we just have too many of (seeing we have McAsey, Murray, Butts, if we had any sense Worrell as our KPD depth). It depends on how much we rate O'Loughlin in particular, but I could see a swap of cat B rookies.

Though I thought cat B was 2 per list? If it is 3, Borlase survives.

2 allowed - but both our Cat B’s are contracted until end of 22.

I guess we could delist and pay out the contract but seems a waste. Cant see it happening.

Both our NGA’s are talented but with ???? on them. Champs will answer the question if we want them on main or Cat A rookie list.

Am I correct that with the latest signings that now means ROC, Gollant, Tex, Talia, Crouch, Kelly and Lynch as the unsigned Senior List players?

There's been some discussion around it being retained but nothing confirmed that I've seen.

We'll have significant trouble meeting our minimum ND requirements if the AFL removes the ability to transfer players from senior to rookie list, and fails to reinstate normal senior list sizes again.

On second thoughts, change that "and" to an "or". Both would be catastrophic.

I think you can't make a decision on the guys at the end of their careers without considering the end of 2022. Most likely all of Walker, Lynch, Mackay, Seedsman and Talia have one more year in them so we probably need to space it out.

Now that's a fair point, at the moment there isn't a lot of obvious delists in 2022 either. Just Frampton and Himmelberg.

Seedsman has already been extended, you'd think Tex would get one more as well to pad it out. Mind you, there isn't a lot of obvious delists this year either.
