If this is true as it sounds and looks

Then Hooray I say, 2 years over due!!

A game with such a small market cannot survie on one platform only!

Hopefully they will utilise Direct X 10 graphics and get a game with some decent graphics.
Like actual faces and no more billard table grass!

Good luck Firery if your envloved with it and if not, good luck to the rest of IRG.

Cheers

PM

Yeah, reading though it more, seems like it could be.

But it is correct that Activision has bought out IR Gurus is it not, according to article I read at Gamespot yesterday?
Or put money into company?

Or is Red Mile not connected to that company?
http://www.sumea.com.au/snews.asp?news=3473

We are now Red Mile. Soon to be trading (if not already) under the name Transmission. That's all I know.

It seems you guys know more than me! :p

AFL 2007 is a great game.

Once you have your opposition set up in tactics.
You understand to shrug tackles
Learn to use the direction thing properly.

ONLY PROBLEMS with 2007.
Turning circle of a player
No jumping button
No snap button
Cannot aim the soccer off the ground kick
SAVING GAMES!! For Christ sake cant you just let us save our teams in single games??
And allow us to modify other teams??? and save that???

Here here.

Played my first game in two months the other day. Still fun and still the best AFL game IMO. But we badly need to be able to save modifed teams at the profile level - what a time saver that would be.

What are the plans for next years game and when are they starting on it?

I have some stuff i'd like to add.

PS2 is borderline redundant with only a few games being produced solely for it anymore. It'd take a few years for the funds and knowledge to be built up for PS3 production.

Been getting into the game again in the last 3 or 4 days. Played a match every day, still on my first season, last game was a narrow win/loss to Sydney (can't remember whcih round, the Sydney-Eagles game at Subiw). It was rainy, windy, scrappy low scoring match (10 min quarters, usually score over 100).

Very challenging and fun, there is a lot of room for improvement but I am enjoying myself very much ATM :thumbsu:

I think I (eagles) am sitting about 4th...? Not sure, lost a few won a few lost a few which is good (usually win 22-0 by 150 points each on 2006)

There is now an element of strategy to stop opposition forwards kicking 7 a game. I now look for a "dangerman" pre-game and make sure to have 2 on him, the wingers (usually Staker starts on a wing for this reason) each tag a player and the HFFs push up the ground to follow the opposition wingers. This worked well with McKinley kicking 4 on debut against Port (we unfortunately lost by about 4 goals) while tagging a Port wingman.

This is not a shit game, not a bad game. This is an enjoyable and fun game.

Kudos IR Gurus, you've done well so far :thumbsu:

MG

P.S All the Eagles that retires/were delisted didn't play this year, except for RoJo. Cousins (played the first 7 before I found out about latest drug issue), Judd (before he got traded played 3), Sampi (0), and our merry band of headcases such as Chick and Spaanderman.

More fun playing like this too, seeing as the above hardly played a game this year :p Gives youngsters a chance.

P.P.S Hurn has been on fire playing out of the centre. 20+ touches a week, kicked 5 one game.

P.P.P.S There is finally a use for the handball! Finally! It's good since to avoid getting dumpedI have to handball quickly, unlike previous versions.

Is Nice!

Finished my first full season a while back. I just scraped into the 8 with a commanding victory over Essendon.

After losing 5 in a row, Judd was fit and Cousins made a comeback (before both Judd and Cousins got injured in the first final against Port ) against the Roos. We won this match by 107 points then followed up by smashing Richmond by 116 points. After a few narrow wins and a loss the Eagles rallied in the final term to beat the Bombers by about 30 points.

Mitch Morton is his first 2007 game for the Eagles kicked 6 goals in a brilliant performance.

The Eagles first faced fifth placed Port Adelaide in apocalyptic conditions at AAMI Stadium. After a tight low scoring match, the Eagles won by a mere 10 points. Mitch Morton in only his second game for 2007 followed up on his 6 goal performance last week with a further 5 today.

The Eagles then faced third placed Essendon again, who were still reeling from their Round 22 clash and had just lost to Melbourne in the second qualifying final. After a blazing first quarter, the Bombers caught up and at the final siren the Eagles won by only 4 points to advance to the preliminary final, a remarkable achievement for an 8th placed team. Quinten "Qolossus" Lynch booted 7 goals to snatch victory with only seconds on the clock.

The hot Eagles then faced Hawthorn in a preliminary final clash at the MCG. On a dry night, the MCG floodlights produced a somewhat dazzling effect for the Matera Goal, who was controlling the Eagles. The Hawks dominated early, kicking 5 goals to the Eagles 2 behinds at the first break. The Eagles trailed closely all day and led with only minutes to play in the final term. The Hawks rallied and kicked the next 2 goals to snatch victory by only 2 points in a heartbreaking loss with the Eagles very nearly kicking two goals with only seconds to play - the first a 55m set shot by Mitch Brown (who finished with three majors) which was touched on the line. The resultant kick in was marked outside 50 by Brown again, who pumped the ball long. Mitch Morton gathered the crumbs but whose kick from point blank range was smothered with only three seconds remaning. The Eagles only worry that day was inaccuracy (understandably however it was a very windy night), with giant forward Quinten Lynch registering 1.5.

The Grand Final next week was an epic event with two very unexpented teams (QUOTH MARK "FIERY HAWK" HOUREAU: "You have a better chance of Carlton and Hawthorn making the grand final") making the last Sunday of September - the lowly Carlton who finished 1st and the Hawthorn Hawks. A crowd of 98000 turned out to see the first Victorian-only grand final since 2000.

This match saw Carltons Brendan Fevola kick 5 goals and take home the Norm Smith (I don't actually know who won the grand final, who made it (HAWTHORN vs -winner of Melbourne vs Carlton-) let alone the Norm Smith medallist or player performances - this is known as creative fiction children :)) as Carlton won by 26 points to claim the 2007 Premiership Cup.

I've drafted enough players to make the Eagles 2008 lists - when the official heights, weights and numbers come through I will make them :thumbsu:

FH, for the next version (whenever that may be) I would really like to see a better drafting system (not being able to see height weight or age is a disgrace) and most definately a medal presentation to each player after a grand final like in real life - this would definately make the game feel more special.

Player profiles containing individual honors, games and goals record is a must

This year not making a game would be the perfect time to work on it - next time we'll hear "we didnt have time" when there is a whole year off or more like now.

Hey MG, good to see some passionate people still playing the game. With regards to us sorting out the main bugs in between AFL games? Mate, we're VERY busy working on other stuff at the moment.

A thing to note though was that back at the start of AFL2007 we had planned and designed an overhaul to the offseason mode but it was too big to get in with the tight deadlines. Here's hoping we can revisit it one day and implement those changes which would have made a world of difference! :)

If Sony still hold the licence, they need to look at releasing on other gaming platforms again next time.

Perhaps that's one of the reasons for 'no game' this year, there aren't enough people buying the PS3 at present.

I can understand there is no point releasing on the PS2 anymore, although the console can still be purchased, game releases are now starting to dry up for the console.

^ yeah i don't think that sony would do that anytime soon. :p

i can't belelive that this topic is still going (well sort of) because i stoped playing the game back in october. ( i think )

But i have recently started a new season trying to recuit the same that the real teams have.

this game seems even more fidley than i remember but its being AFL makes it somehow addictive, but sadly it gets even more boring, but when i remember what an improvement it was to the previois ones it makes it seem a bit better .

makes me sad though, that we won't get another one this year.

Perhaps ir-gurius can catch up and get the 2009 one out for the ps3 and iron out everything in time for a earler release like 1/4 the way through the season while some teams (essendon) still have a chance, (it may improve your sales , you never know :thumbsu:).

Games are, now taking longer to produce look at GTA IV for example almost over 3 years. i remember how you guys said you were moving onto another game  , well i thought that was a bad move because you should have started the next one, because now you would have forgotten all about it and we will have to reteach you ;).
