I'll be accepting apologies when Geelong don't make the top 4. can pay in the form of likes.

I thought Geelong's dominant era would most definitely end this year, and I predicted them out of the 8. But shouldn't make any calls so early in the year, the year will unfold unexpectedly I believe.

Not bragging but I think the Bombers could match it with anyone this year. Hawks are clear favourites but don't see any other dominant side this year. I still think the Swans will come good and finish top 4.

Freo forward line is barren, even worse with Walters probably out long term.

1. Haw
2. Syd
3. Ess
4. Port
5. Frem
6. Geel
7. Coll
8. North

9. WC
10. etc etc
16. Carlton

Essendon have been doing this for...how many years now? They burst out of the blocks and then stall midway through the year. That likely doesn't happen this season but there will certainly come a point where they dip and drop a few games here and there as it's almost possible to play the same game plan all the way through as teams adapt.
I'm personally more worried about Fremantle than Hawthorn, I'm unsure how Port Adelaide supporters feel about both teams but to me, Fremantle have something like 9 out of their next 12 at Subiaco oval so they will start upping up their game as the year draws to a close while I cannot see Hawthorn getting that much better than what they have already produced, in particular, that game on Friday night.
Bobby, keep telling yourself Hawthorn are not a threat.

It'll come true one day.

and what about your ladder prediction, how far did you have the Cats slipping? ;)

I had you guys 5th, had Freo Hawks Swans and North top 4, you guys 5th, tigers 6th bombers 7th and pies 8th.

I now would have you in the top 4 and north out. Port Adelaide and West Coast I really underrated.

I had the blues like 11th or 12th ;) haha sorry Bobby I just couldn't understand what you saw in their list and depth to suggest a top 4 spot let alone a top 8 spot. Their list is in a horrible state and the worrying thing is, the past 4-5 drafts have produced next to nothing for them besides Menzel and Buckley.

I keep giving you crap about Carlton but I'll put my hand up about West Coast. I had them about 13th or 14th from memory and although they haven't played any real quality opposition yet, I think they will clearly finish alot higher than that.

I wouldn't get too confident on their current predicament. We are only 3 games in remember but to answer your question, I didn't see anything significant in their list at all but there is always 1 team that surprises us each year and I couldn't see a Bulldogs, Suns or Crows making that run and with Carlton being underrated for most of the pre season, and having a fairly older list (in comparison to their counterparts Essendon/Richmond), they needed to do something in 2014 or it would be bust so that's why I had them winning these early games which they have now lost and it looks like they probably struggle to even make the 8 judging by last weeks form line.

Still too early in the season though. Can change quickly as you know.

Haven't you heard? We're a rabble with every star player leaving us which includes the jaw dropping likes of the dashing wingman who never gets on the park Polec, talented ruckman who thought he deserved more game time Longer, half back flanker who had the best kick in his draft year, yet managed to hit a whopping 20% of his targets on the AFL stage Docherty, the Greek God Karnezis who missed his mom's souvlaki and the king of haircuts Elliot Yeo, who happened to be the only best 22 player. But don't let facts get in the way of a good media drive up that everyone is leaving the Lions, and therefore we're a rabble. Sure, the responses from Rockliff38 have been amusing, but most supporters of netural teams have us firmly entrenched in the bottom 4. I think most people are in for a rude awakening.

We all expected you to go bottom four, but you guys really surprised us all by firmly entrenching yourself bottom of the ladder.

If I had to do it right now:

1. Hawthorn (will probably have a fairly large lead over 2nd)
2. Geelong
3. Fremantle
4. Sydney (might be bias but remember 95% of people were predicting us Top 3, still expect us to bounce back. Not the first time we've started a season poorly either, I'll downgrade us if we lose today)
5. Port Adelaide
6. West Coast (injuries look like hurting again)
7. Essendon (will reserve judgement until towards the end of the season, too long have they limped across the finish line)
8. Collingwood

9. North Melbourne (it's tradition)
10. Gold Coast
11. Western Bulldogs
12. Richmond (they look in dire straits)
13. GWS
14. Adelaide (played 3 finals bound sides which I think makes their season look worse than it actually is. Will learn a lot today)
15. St Kilda (think we'll learn a lot more soon, still not convinced they've significantly improved)
16. Carlton
17. Brisbane Lions
18. Melbourne (despite what happened yesterday, still don't think they'll win much)

Tiers:

Hawthorn
Geelong
Fremantle, Sydney, Port Adelaide, West Coast, Essendon
Collingwood, North Melbourne, Gold Coast
Western Bulldogs, Richmond, GWS
Adelaide, St Kilda
Carlton, Brisbane, Melbourne
