AFL 2014 Ladder Predictions

The only teams I can see going backwards are St Kilda and Brisbane.
Agree. That's why every single win is vital and we'll see 4-6 '8 point games' each week.

2014 is going to be a ripper for many. I predict a non top 8 from 2013 to go on a roll and finish top 4.

1. Sydney - will be a force
2. Fremantle - will challenge again
3. Hawthorn - still good enough
4. Carlton - amazing list
5. North Melbourne - Ziebell's lost 6kg but is as strong as ever.
6. Geelong - sliding away
7. Adelaide - J-Pod is an orgasmic inclusion
8. Port Adelaide - Will stagnate
9. Richmond - lol Ninthmond
10. Collingwood - Crazy Bucks
11. Western Bulldogs - Looking good for finals in 2015
12. Gold Coast - Same as Bulldogs
13. Brisbane - overrated
14. Melbourne - I think they'll improve
15. West Coast - first year under Simpson won't be a good one
16. GWS - more competitive for longer
17. St Kilda - Rabble at the moment
18. Essendon - ASADA come in with the dildo
Edited for accuracy.

ASADA will stick to prison rules. By the 3rd stroke blood can be lube.

Not much to do for next hour so will have a crack...

1 - Fremantle - Most ferocious side in the comp with depth everywhere
2 - Hawthorn - Roughead, Hale and Gunston still gives quality side firepower
3 - Sydney - Too good not to win 14/15 games
4 - Adelaide - Obvious bias but a great midfield and more grunt in front half even before Tex returns
5 - Kangaroos - Think Dal Santo will add some composure and leadership to a team that has underperformed
6 - Richmond - Forget the soft draw good enough to be a top 4 side on there own merits
7 - Geelong - GREAT SIDE with great kids who are ready to step up further
8 - Eagles - looked bored last year, Simpson will add a tougher mental attitude
9 - Collingwood - Just feel if Pendlebury, Swan and Cloke dont dominate they dont have the reserves ...yet
10 - Port - so many players had career best seasons last year but building a slick midfield
11 - Bulldogs - were very hard to beat in back half of year
12 - Carlton - I think Carlton fans will be wishing they still had Eddie Betts by the end of the year
13 - Essendon - Won so many games on emotion last year but think it has to pay a toll at some stage
14 - Gold Coast - still only seeing them 8-9 wins for the year, just a couple of older heads short
15 - Melbourne - Roos will improve them and give them structure, a fit Clark, Dawes, Hogan pretty handy
16 - GWS - starting to build a nice list of experienced campaigners to complement the kids, like Mumford
17 - Brisbane - Will struggle to kick winning scores
18 - St Kilda - Rabble

I haven't come across an Essendon poster yet that hasn't had Essendon in the top 4

They looked fantastic this year up to round 17 they were top 2 i think people forget that, like i said earlier i'm expecting a different top 4 next season Fremantle will be there but Sydney,Hawthorn,Geelong great clubs but they have been up and challenging for so long can they back it up again?

I'm expecting a Richmond,North,Essendon to be right up there come seasons end.

yeah your actually right, gone longer and won more games each year for the last 3, as i said, we will be there

Not true. Essendon's 2011 was better than their 2012 and the fade out was nowhere near as bad. 7 games by an average of 51 points in 2012.

They played a lot better Football in 2012 than 2011, won as many games and the fade out was worse because they only had about 23 or 24 fit players to choose from. who gives a **** anyway I wouldnt be the first supporter to talk up my teams chances would I? Richmonds fans have been doing it 30 years and copping it up the ass.

You haven't looked very hard then.

Shhhh you're bring logic and reasoning to the main board, we can't have that!

On the Essendon side of things, I think because of the whole saga people forgot how devastating they were in patches this year. If they can fix the fadeouts as the year grows on (and it may have been fixed this year if not for the emotional toll of it all) it's not unlikely that they could finish top 4. I would be surprised if they didn't make the 8.

Geelong officially cooked
Hawks fire without Buddy
Fremantle raging flag favourites
Buckley under pressure

1. Freo - will be hungry and have the talent
2. Hawks - Still a super list and now with a gun ruckman
3. Sydney - a great team with gun KPP's
4. Tigers - Easier draw and growing list
5. North - Should have made in last year, too good to miss again
6. Cats - Still therabouts
7. Dons - Will bounce back under Thomson with a point to prove - unless players are rubbed out
8. Pies - On the back of a super midfield
9. Port - Over achieved last year IMO
10. Suns - Not quite finals bound but could suprise
11. West Coast - still too one paced ion the middle
12. Carlton - maybe wishful thinking but I dont see much depth there
13. Adelaide - will win a few suprise games but not a finals threat
14. Lions - see above
15. Saints - rebuilding
16.Dogs - rebuilding
17. GWS - Will pinch a few games this year with 1 or 2 upsets - I like where they are headed
18. Dees - Roos will need a season to sort his list, will cause an upset.

My god no!

The fade outs have been a concern. An optimistic view would put last years down to injuries, this years, as you said, to the toll the investigation took. A less charitable view would say that the players aren't capable of maintaining a high standard for the entire season. A view which will gain traction should the fade outs continue. I'm hopeful that the fact the team was competitive for longer this year is a pointer to the coaching staff getting a handle on why and addressing, but only time will tell.

It's an amazing puzzle is it not ? Essendon has the talent, even a die hard hater has to admit that but why do they seem at the business year to fold. It has not been just this year but for about 3 years straight now. Is it game plan related ? or your pre season training ?

Let's just hope its more a wrong routine trained in the off season and now with new coaches in that department they fix it. Essendon when on song are similar to North in that they can be quite explosive but I have always wondered why that Essendon don't just fade out they become completely noncompetitive.

Can't believe how little respect the Cats are getting here. They are the opponent most feared by the 2013 premiers and look well positioned for another tilt next year. With a little bit of luck this year they may well of won the flag and yet most posters have them sliding down the ladder like StKilda of 2012 after Lyon abandoned ship. Unlike the Saints the Geelong list is nicely balanced with plenty of top end talent being well complimented by exciting young players showing great improvement. Cannot see how they miss top four.

Take 2 (or 3)...

1. Sydney
2. Fremantle
3. Hawthorn
4. North Melbourne
5. Essendon
6. Geelong
7. Richmond
8. Collingwood

10. Gold Coast
11. West Coast
12. Carlton
13. Adelaide
14. Western Bulldogs
15. Brisbane
16. Melbourne
17. St Kilda
18. GWS

Coleman: T.Cloke
Brownlow: J.Selwood

  1. Sydney
  2. Fremantle
  3. Hawthorn
  4. North Melbourne
  5. Geelong
  6. Collingwood
  7. Richmond
  8. Essendon
  9. Port Adelaide
  10. Carlton

  12. Brisbane
  13. Bulldogs
  14. Adelaide
  15. West Coast
  16. Melbourne
  17. St Kilda
  18. GWS
Bugger top 8, North should make top 4 with their easier draw and midfield depth getting scarier.
