On paper you'd think that the Giants would smash them (And I hope they do) BUT it's actually worth noting that their record at Marvel Stadium is actually pretty bad both historically and also recently.

Lost to the Bombers at the same venue last year and that was a much worse Essendon team.

Played port and got flogged, next week we turned an away game v The Dogs into a home game. Huge effort from the supporters, just as it’s always been. Yes we have bandwaggoners, who hasnt ? But we have the highest core support who keep showing up. Look at the top up years, the drug years. None more loyal.
Can’t wait to get there on Saturday.

I don't think the Giants have reached the stage where they have any bandwaggoners yet.

Reckon GWS will be breathing fire this week.

If we can stick with them early then the game is 50/50 but I am worried they will open an early lead we can't catch.
I'm worried about the other way around. Home crowd riding Essendon to an early lead through dominating the inside. GWS then destroy us in the second half after the game opens up.

GWS are vulnerable if you can get on top of them in the contested ball. Carlton, St Kilda, and Sydney got on top of them in this area, resulting in 2 losses and a win by 1 point. Whether Tom Green plays could have a massive factor in determining the outcome of this match.

GWS will look to beat us with their surging footy out of their defensive half. We have looked okay defensively in the past month, but we often struggle to defend from turnovers. If we can't defend their transition from defence, we will get slaughtered.

Expect a fast, high-scoring match under the roof at Marvel.

Losing Duursma hurts. Was putting in a very good season and has been a big addition to the defensive side of our game with his running. Coming up against the best running team in the league is one of the worst times to lose him.
