Can someone clarify a rule for me: when the bounce goes out of the circle to the left or right of screen they recall it, presumably because it favours one team or the other.

But they don’t recall it when it goes out of the circle sideways? Why? Yes sideways means it doesn’t go towards the goal of either side and as such it doesn’t ‘favour’ either team, but it can still favour a team’s set up through sheer luck.
