All the talk is about Ken/Ginnivan/Sicily/Mitchell….

One thing that has gone under the radar is the filthy tactics of Hawks players grabbing their heads after a tackle.

Chol then Impey, trying to influence the umpires.

On top of the usual suspects ducking into tackles Hok ball is out of flavour pretty quick.

100% - Hawks need the wide open spaces to make it work.

Hinkley set Port up to take away the corridor and the switch last night, endlessly forcing Hawthorn down the line or into dead ends. That is much harder to do in the wide open spaces of the MCG.

He also had his wings actually go one on one in a negating role. All year the Hawks wings have folded back to play as the 7th and 8th defender and then used their elite kicking with little pressure to kick-start their offence.

Their half forwards push up and play as traditional wings and the opposition wings get sucked into defending them leaving guys like D'Ambo and Amon to float free back and then have little pressure once they get the pill.

Last night the Port wingers just followed the Hawks wingers into their back half and created even more congestion and pressured them enough so they could not set up play.

lol that was a deal between the VFL and the MCC, it cost a lot of money to redevelop the MCG and the Federal government didn't pay a dime so the project had to be largely self-funded and to be able to achieve that, big brained people projected how much access to sports like football and cricket they would need access to in order to recoup what it cost to build those stadium improvements.

It was a decision based on financial requirements to get the funding. That deal has been adjusted numerous times with the approval of ALL of the interstate clubs and they agreed to extend the deal long after the initial 50 year period so interstate teams could have greater access to finals, games that otherwise would have had to be played at the MCG. There was a binding contract and the MCC didn't have to adjust the deal but it made it a lot fairer that they did. All interstate clubs were either a party to this deal or knew that this agreement was in place before they joined the AFL.

Time and again, the interstate clubs have agreed to things that aren't in the best interest of the fans in other states but are in the best interest of maintaining the status quo, to the WAFL and SANFL, the AFL is primarily an investment that helps to fund their state competition. Back when Port was in a financial shithole, the AFL offered to purchases the licenses back off for the SA and WA clubs and hand them to the clubs, giving them true independence. Both the SANFL and WAFL or their controlling bodies refused to return the licenses to the members of these clubs so you need to get off your moral high horse. You are just a commodity to those who own your clubs, they don't give a shit about you or your pissant anti Victorian bias.
Woooo, them's a lot of words. I can't be bothered reading all that but I get the drift by the sheer volume. And I fart in your general direction.

Yep, picked this as well - so not only exaggerating the impact, but adding mayo - clearly a Mitchell tactic.

The game was so much better off when he was just cheating on his missus.

hawks got a bit ahead of themselves, so they cant complain. they should of kept a lid on it instead of acting like douche bags and being embarrassed by a port team which has a long record of losing finals

Possibly or they're just confident. I think they'll be even better next year.

Since April 28, Hawthorn has only lost four games, with only one of those losses being more than 3 points.

Hawks red hot for a long time and there should be lots of optimism for 2025, but the Power did also just lay out the blueprint on how to play them.

I think it was more to do with showing respect to Bruest - a legend of the game. I.E leave it until afterwards instead of being a 13-year-old girl and trying to taunt the side you just beat. Or just STFU?

Yeah exactly this. All good to have a bit of banter, back and forth.

Strange thing is the only person being aggressive and prolonging the exchange to the extent it impacted Bruests send off was Sicily.

Sicily still having a sook this morning
Go back and watch some tapes of Mitchell in his playing days. Flog.
You can't keep dishing it out, and inciting the crowd and saying what you like without it coming back.
Lol hokball. Flogball

No he didn't. Do all Port supporters lack this much comprehension? He was asked he said he wants to move on.

I agree.

There was quite a number of head first dives though.

JHF headbutting a leg Selwood style and getting a freekick was good. None of the so called neutrals had an a issue with that. Or multiple deliberate out of bounds by Port, or Chol running too far even though he bounced it, or when Impey was held and impeded after handballing and should've been awarded a 50m. Or the dangerous tackle in the first quarter. No problem

Expectation and comparison are the thieves of joy…….the Hawks will never have this unbridled, devil may care attitude and opportunity again. The Dogs capitalised in 2016…….and have never rekindled the same spirit, the Hoks blew it. Can easily see them missing the 8 next year!
Hawks have maybe a 3 year window. 2 left? Players still young but strategies get sorted pretty quickly by oppo these days, just ask Dees and Pies. The fantastic 2nd half of the year, has no real meaning for the future. A big chance was missed last night. They took Ports best shots, and were finishing strongly until Sicily's poster. Great game, but missed opp that may not come again.

Still going, gotta give Hawks fans credit, still trying to polish the umpiring turd
