Interesting game flyin hawks versus a stalled and fairly impotent Port.

A week is a long time. I reckon the lineal predictions from last week's form line that show hawks hammering port will not happen and it will be much closer than expected.

Confidence is good, but a fine line between it and cocksureness.

Gloom is bad, but a fine line between it and a strong reaction.

The psychological approach at Port during the week will be crucial. Keep the lads positive. If their midfield can get their fair share, and no selection errors, I reckon we could have a hot game in the AO furnace.

People are talking about Ginnivan's one liner comment on a mate's Instagram post as somehow being such a significant motivator for Port that they should now win the game.

Whilst the game itself has been a big talking point, barely anybody is talking about how the Hawk's loss to Port by 1 point in an 'unlosable' position is going to be an absolutely massive motivation for the Hawks to come out and dominate the match for the full four quarters.

Also worth pointing out that Mannagh from Geelong had a sneaky little comment during an interview in the rooms after their QF win about how there are 'only two games left' like they were definitely going to win their PF... nobody seems to have a problem with him saying that.

Lol, form team.
This is the problem with you Vics, local media tells you something enough times you believe it
Only team to win its last 5 games was us, and we took some fair scalps in the process, you got Norf, Richmond and a banged up Blues.

And I dont believe the team hates their coach at all, the opposite infact which is why they rallied for 13 straight to keep him last year and won 8 of the last 9 after he got boo'd losing only to GC up there which was a theme for most of this year.
The poster was actually referring to the Bulldogs as being the form team of the competition, not the Hawks.

It's the occasion, the stage (Semi Final) is getting bigger as well as rising expectations (favourites), not to mention the added burden of traveling away from home in unfamiliar surroundings.

Hawks love to downplay one of the recent finals they lost to Geelong because it was a 'non-elimination' Week 1 final but apparently in this context every final is the same apparently.

Dusty's 300th and Dusty kicks the 1st goal and the entire stadium goes into meltdown.

Hawks dont even blink.

Id say their heads are in the right spot.

Port should still win because they are the better team and have more experience.

But if we start quick Port may be the ones to drop their shoulders.

Port will almost certainly win comfortably, because that's what happens almost every year in finals. One of the top 4 is written off, one of the elim final winners "could go all the way".

Then reality turns up and we remember that Port, for all their obvious flaws, are better than Hawthorn, for all their insta posts.

Hawks will just continue on their merry way playing with intensity and speed whilst executing a solid game plan as has been the way for most of the season.
Port on the other hand are a little stagnant and dull, especially after the shellacking they received form the Cats.
Their defense has been dulled with missing quality players, against Ginnivan and Watson it will be tough.

Be staggered if port win this. Everything to play for. Hinkley absolutely needs the win. Tough one. Hawks are very hot.

Hawks by 9.

You can't be "staggered" if Port win, if you are tipping a margin of 9 points (a goal and a half).

Anyway, Hawks by 20, seeya later Ken ya ****.

I don't have an issue with Ginnivan and his comments, good on the kid for being cocky!

"Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake"

Port players where probably stewing on their failure focusing on their mental deficiencies. That focus and mindset would have shifted now because of that tweet. I expect to see a more focused and determined Port this Friday night.

Comparing finals pressure playing against a team that finished 2nd at the end of the home and away season in their own home turf to a run of the mill home and away match where coincidentally a milestone is reached by a player in the worst team of the comp this year? Don't think that's an apples to apples comparison.

There's a world of difference between the comments. Mannagh's comments can be interpreted as Geelong not getting ahead of themselves based on the result against Port. In other words that that result in isolation, as great as it was, doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

There's still plenty of work to be done, that is 2 more games left to achieve what every club sets out to achieve every season, winning a flag. It is not implying in any way that Geelong are already thinking that the flag is in the bag.

Unavailability of Houston and Farrell is very significant, two quality footballers that attack the ball, superb kicks and deliver the pill precisely to team’s advantage.
That may well be the difference between the teams in the end, even though Port has home ground advantage.

The Power literally kicked 2 goals in the last 40 seconds - the same thing happened against the Giants in Canberra which is, along with the Cats game in Canberra Hawthorn’s only losses since round 8.

I’m not saying Port can’t and won’t win - as I said the exact same thing happened to Hawthorn in 2000 and 2007 (we lost both to North by 10 points and 33 points) but on demonstrated form this year there is no way, that Port will belt Hawthorn. That is, unless Hawthorn have an enormous come down which is very possible with the AFL’s second youngest list
Pulling excuses out already hey
