Multiplat AFL 23: Launch Thread (Xbox release date TBC)

STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

Lack of gang tackling claims another victim.

More like that it plays like every other AFL game where

• players run away randomly from the ball
• the marking contests are obviously weighted in the defenders favour so you can regularly outmark three forwards in a one-on-three scenario (because your other team mates have run off somewhere)
• you can run into the a crowded 50 which then becomes Pagan's Paddock because for some reason the defenders prefer to give you an open run at the goal in order to cover their man

and plenty more for a $100 game

Im expecting one big patch update.
So far the game is just the same as all the others with updated graphics with only Pro Team mode to come as an addition.
Season and Management Career. Whats the purpose of Season mode when you can just play a season in Management Career? Its not like Management Career is the football manager experience i was hoping for. Its not even 1% of that maybe wishful thinking when i saw the word “management”.

But Big Ant must've thought this game was good enough to go gold (complete enough to put on physical disks). So it is very bizarre that they considered this game 'complete' when they don't have any stats/tactics screen, interchange not working etc.

If it only affects PC that should be highlighted. Majority of gamers will be console. So may explain it

Yeah I think the delay might affect Big Ant a lot.

If the Xbox copies were here than they'd already have been bought. Now there is time for people to see the promising yet unfinished game and decide to cancel their pre-orders.

What's the point of having super photo realistic player graphics when the actual gameplay takes place from a far angle.

The game needs leap forwards in game mechanics. Ground balls/aerial contests/tactics/blocking.

Not flying around the country chasing players for scans so the skipped cutscences look outstanding.

I'd still invest in Big Ant, since they actually interact and take suggestions, especially for this new base game. Surely the contested gameplay would be more advanced in the next iteration, or even in a future patch.

I said this months ago, they definitely sacrificed the gameplay for extra things we won't even really notice, when playing.
