Normally pretty calm when I play games but I had my first AFL 23 controller throw 😂
It hasn't been bothering me at all because it's the game that is cooked, nothing to do with the player. My son was getting pretty frustrated but I just kept telling him it's not him it's the game glitching and bugging. I would've returned the game last week but he bought it and he has faith they'll fix it eventually so it was his decision.

I’ve held off giving it to my cousin yet. He’s been anticipating it so badly I don’t want to ruin the experience for him. I’ll give in shortly though I think. It’s better than it was and for an 10 year old I think he’ll be okay!

Just watched the Cr1tikal video. Honestly for the exposure, that wasn't too bad. Most of his frustrations were just not knowing Aussie Rules haha. The game seemed to play fine at least, bar the opposition being maybe way too OP near goals (which we all experience right now).

Also RIP Angus Brayshaw for being the only dude wearing a helmet and Charlie having no idea why and branding him a doofus.
i think he was playing recent games on Steam that had negative reviews, saw AFL23, and tried it out. At the end he said "not bad, I don't know why its sitting at mostly negative reviews"

I also had this thing last night where at a marking contest my player just decided to run around in a huge circle around the contest unprompted by any of my controls - a few minutes later same thing happened to my son.

There's also instances of players kicking, marking, playing on etc even when my hands aren't on the controller.

The game has improved a lot but still a lot to fix - it's like if it started at 1 and has to get to 100 it's at about 20. 20x better than release but still a loooong way to go.
"The curl" movement that veers off course, right? I emailed the support staff with footage of that happening.

Maybe 10 year olds are different these days, but as a young'un I think I put up with some pretty broken mechanics and stability in games when the wonder and imagination was so strong. Games like TES III: Morrowind comes to mind. Crashed to desktop like a b*tch, FPS all the over the show, glitches, but boy did it spark wonder and intrigue in me.

But yes AFL 23 as it's coming along should be okay.

That week ends today. Just FYI.

I hope to be able to at least play management mode properly by Monday. Long way to go though...
The game isn’t even close to good enough yet which is the worrying part considering Cricket 24 comes out soon

How are players still getting stuck between the man on the mark and the man with the ball ? This should have been one of the first fixes to allow the free flowing gameplay that we all want
This and players getting stuck in the ground when they receive a kick or handball
Baffles me that these are still glaringly big issues that haven’t been addressed considering we’re getting patches every day

And it's concerning (like I said the other day) they may remain in as quirks of the game :(

Did we ever end up getting a proper roadmap? Or just the task list?

I would have gone with a flow diagram myself!

This can be changed when/if Bigant implement wind and then if it alters the projection the ball takes.
I've been to plenty of windless/indoor games and the teams are still lucky to break even with goals vs behinds..

Wind plays a factor, but it's much more about skills, accuracy, distance and angle.
None of these appear to matter, but all 4 must.

I assume that once wind is added/fixed, the height will also come into play where higher kicks can go further but are more impacted by wind than lower kicks. This alongside player attributes which I hope will change the timing window will add much more player skill to the game. It should be much harder(but not impossible) to kick goals with defenders than forwards. At the moment it doesn't matter.

Do players ever miss on the run? That's one thing I feel I haven't seen in any footage; they have an exquisite ability to immediately balance and square up at goal.

Mine tend to go 50/50 on the run

As a ten year old I put up with monochrome graphics and realistic games like Brick breaker, Paratrooper and Sopwith. My 13 year old son bloody loves the game. It has so much realism graphically and we laugh about some more obvious bugs. A lot on here are whinging about the AI. The game now plays pretty well in two player mode on PC with two controllers.
I have modded some stuff and have been playing Spencer Gulf League with my son and he is blown away with the potential for modding. Me too tbh.

BigAntStudios I know this isn't the place for suggestions, but everyone else is doing it...
Would it be possible in Team Creation to have like an auto create players to fill a new custom squad to the required 23 or say 27 players. I only ask because I am rather lazy and have found creating players each from scratch very very time consuming. I noted in making players that they get assigned names which is awesome. For most that may be enough.
Also on PC, the default players to pick from have lots of tatts. Whilst I like the odd tattoo here and there, most players out there in leagues we might custom don't have masses. It would save time leaving the skin bare and then adding them in later.

Massively agree, really just want to auto-generate players

I do hope it continues for a while. The support team were very polite in thanking me for going into detail for about what I feel needs improving. I gave them video footage for them to try and replicate the same issues, so they can patch them up.
Yeah, it's been great getting responses from the Support team.... from 'we've noticed this in internal testing', to 'we were able to replicate it based off your video'.... and even 'we haven't yet noticed this, but hopefully your video will help us get to the bottom of it'.

Actually feel like we're making a difference... and not just being a whingey gamer like I see on some of the FB groups. haha
