Had a bug online yesterday where players couldn't pick up the ball so we just had to soccer it until the game eventually crashed.

PS4 has crashes on occasions where the players stop and I can still control one player, then the player can walk into the stands and run around! Only happened once.

I've had some very inaccurate AI games . Playing medium 3.5 quarters on season mode, had Geelong kick 6.7 with 6 of those behinds being on the run. Seems to be real hit and miss though - I never miss on the run, its the set shots from 50 I always spray (or don't make the distance)

Yeah that's so bizarre... He played 5 minute quarters on easiest, the AI scored 16.2 with both misses being set shots and probably 10 or 11 of the goals from quick shots on the run.

I am really enjoying the Academy nowadays. Don't get me wrong, gameplay is very crucial, but I like making stuff too.View attachment 1684962
Yeah totally. I've always been a huge customisation nerd. I'm sure some WWE games I've spent more time creating than actually wrestling.

BigAntStudios I know this isn't the place for suggestions, but everyone else is doing it...
Would it be possible in Team Creation to have like an auto create players to fill a new custom squad to the required 23 or say 27 players. I only ask because I am rather lazy and have found creating players each from scratch very very time consuming. I noted in making players that they get assigned names which is awesome. For most that may be enough.
Also on PC, the default players to pick from have lots of tatts. Whilst I like the odd tattoo here and there, most players out there in leagues we might custom don't have masses. It would save time leaving the skin bare and then adding them in later.

Yep definitely agree. All 3 default males have tatts, would be good to have 1 or 2 without as default. Like you, I plan to create a heap of custom players (purely for my own amusement though, not actual leagues).

Another thing I'd love, but is probably isn't easy to implement, would be to generate attributes as well. The dream would be something like set a player as a forward, then give him an intended overall score, and have the attributes semi-randomly assign themselves to match. Though I realise that's probably not an easy one at all.

Then BigAntStudios should increase the speed of the bar the further you get from the goals or the tighter the angle.
Probably the easiest fix. I remember Evo 2 came out with extremely easy set shots before they adjusted it in a patch.

If anyone played Aussie Rules on NES, the developer actually had the bar moving at ridiculous speeds when when you were far from the goal but as you closer the bar slowed down and the chances of getting a goal increased.

I would have gone with a flow diagram myself!
If I had to guess, I’d say the reason they went with the list instead of any sort of step by step thing would be because there’s no way they could guarantee it’d be coming in any given order. The complexity of game design would mean they’d likely get stuck on singular gameplay elements and it’d push some features back by a matter of days. That of course would lead to criticism so they went the safer route imo and still copped criticism.

Do players ever miss on the run? That's one thing I feel I haven't seen in any footage; they have an exquisite ability to immediately balance and square up at goal.
From tight angles I’ve seen the AI missing on the run. Looks like they’re aiming for a spot maybe 5m behind the middle of the goal line and if they’re at a tight angle it’ll get there via the outside of the post. Seen a few hit the post as well.

Yeah, it's been great getting responses from the Support team.... from 'we've noticed this in internal testing', to 'we were able to replicate it based off your video'.... and even 'we haven't yet noticed this, but hopefully your video will help us get to the bottom of it'.

Actually feel like we're making a difference... and not just being a whingey gamer like I see on some of the FB groups. haha
I do hope so. I made a very detailed video with different gameplay parts that have notes at the end of each sequence. I showed images of AFL Live 2004's wind hud that I insisted they should add at coin tosses, so we know which direction to choose if we win the toss. Oh, and I showed them how great their gang tackles were in their Rugby League Live games...

No need to guess. From the horse's mouth:

I'm not going to give a roadmap that has me lynched if it's out by a minute as is the want by some on here.

There will be a trailer, there will be public playsessions, there will be an opportunity for streaming of the game prior to release on 4 May 2023.

This is the roadmap.

As mentioned on occasions to numerous to count, no one will be in the dark about the contents of this game prior to purchase - and that is all that should matter.

Might be the only thing they stuck to in that quote, but still.

Gday everyone have a few questions for you big ant today was just wondering are we going to have states in the game like just say buddy has kicked 4 will that show in the game when he has marked it and about have a shot on goal and the other is deliberate going to be in the game?

Development isn't linear so does not lend itself to a flow chart, we have isolated all features into sub-groups and whenever we feel an item won't add to the crash rate then it is added to the patch.

Most here are helping and want a better game, and the team certainly appreciate their constructive criticism. I couldn't ask more of the team here, working around the clock to make this right.

Gameplay is really coming together well I think, more fine tuning definitely needed.

Players stuck in mud is probably the most frustrating thing. I can string together kicks, and then try to handball to a player on the run and he gets mowed down and pinged for holding the ball because he decides to just stop after a handball receive and nothing can be done about that.

Either AFL 06 or 07 had a similar concept. Wasn't as fast though so you risked getting tackled to time it

Yeah all over the shop thats for sure haha Most of the ones on the run they missed were uncontested. But for lots of other people, it's the other way around. I was glad though - had they buried those shots I would have lost the match
