Multiplat AFL 23: Launch Thread (Xbox release date TBC)

STATE OF PLAY:

• The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
• Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
• Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
• This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
• Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

I can’t believe people believe this “it’s the wrong build” excuse. Big Ant have form releasing unfinished messes. Next thing we will hear is that the office dog ate the latest build.

I think it’s mainly because the version shown by the content creators was 1000 times better. So that seems like the most logical conclusion

Finally downloaded and tried to play a quick match and it crashed lol

Eventually got into the quick match, but when the opposition kicked a point and I tried to kick out from full back it kicked backwards and there was a deliberate rush behind, this happen for anyone else? Haha

Also seems like the ruck contest at every centre bounce is a different camera angle, keeps changing after each goal ..

Trolling and laughing aside I still applaud BigAntStudios for trying to make an AFL game.

AFL is probably at least in my opinion the hardest sporting game to make. 36 players all in different areas over a large field rotating as play goes on.

It's a very difficult game to make.

With a much bigger budget I'm sure the games would be good.

Unfortunately that's probably never going to happen and the benchmark starts with games like 2k and FIFA and AFL is always and has always fallen short.

No amount of patches is going to fix this.

Some of the glitches I'm seeing and continue to see on twitter isn't good. This is a shambles of a game at the moment.

Would've been better if big ant just pulled the plug and said we're not ready.

No point having the VFL and the WAFL and women's footy sjd having 3000 players scanned if the gameplay is broken.

Should've just gone basic. AFL. Nothing else. Career mode. Online play. Focus on gameplay.

Thank you BigAnt, a response was desperately needed. I can’t even begin to understand the cluster**** of a day you guys have had to go through, you don’t owe explanations now, just put the work in to getting the game up to a passable day 1 standard, then it’s all up from here. Trust the process guys, I know day 1 has been disappointing, but i’m glad to see they’re going to have a good portion of it sorted today.

Damn it people... Shit happens. Not everything is black and white and there is a lot of multi-coloured stuff in this world.
When you grow up you tend to realise that mum isn't always there to cut your crusts off and kiss your knee better when you get an ouchie.

Big Ant will deliver a patch and will fix the issues people are experiencing. They will also give you Pro Team. But unless you have 24 hours left on this mortal coil... cool your jets and appreciate that you are about to get the best Aussie Rules game on the planet and you can play the arse out of it for years to come.

Also, do you prefer they spend their day on this chat with the crew from MENSA or spend the day fixing the issues at hand? Big Ant have advised that they F'd up and they are fixing it. I think I read someone wanted them to issue a formal apology as well. Welcome to 2023 when everyone is entitled and easily offended.

We will come up with a roadmap and share it tomorrow, we need to find out what has caused the issues with the patch, the fastest way to do this strip the patch back to gameplay and stability elements and then build back over the next week.

So anyone that “defends” as you put it or tries to look at things holistically and has more of an understanding view to the situation, isn’t thinking for themselves? Like I ain’t gonna defend what’s gone on but I’m certainly not gonna go as hard as others have cas I know that what I’ve seen from the game prior to today, isn’t what has been shown prior. And yes I’m thinking for myself.
Something has clearly gone a miss today and I get the criticism but let’s be honest Big Ant themselves wouldn’t be happy with the release. I don’t think they need people reminding them every 5 mins of what’s gone on. They all know. Time to chill.
