STATE OF PLAY:
  • The game is out for Steam and PlayStation. There have been issues with Xbox release and it is unclear when the game will be available.
  • Big Ant are aware that there are playability issues & bugs at present.
  • Content has been temporarily removed from the game to identify where the issues lie.
  • This content will be re-introduced via patches in the coming days.
  • Big Ant have released a summary of what is to be reintroduced, which can be seen below.

I haven’t played tonight’s patch but I let the first bar go all the way to the end because there is no penalty for it as long as you press the second timer well before the blue
From memory if you don't do the second bar correctly your kick alters (becomes more of a flat foot punt instead of the drop punt).

Ross has said that he would be patched in

Probably as a bribe/peace offering when the Xbox situation is resolved.

I'm doing a season as Port Adelaide (PS5) and got latest patch as of todays. Ken Hinkley doesn't appear to be coach it's a random bloke in polo, is it just mine or anyone else got this?

I think it was GWS also didn't seem like it was Adam Kingsley either?
 
Day 1 of asking ross to please address guernsey number issues so my draftees don't get stuck wearing 0

Also auto interchange keeps putting Frampton on the wing please fix

Auto interchange highlights from my last game

Frampton played the whole game on the wing
Mccreery played the whole game in defence
Mitchell played in half back on Jeremy Cameron
Quaynor was put in forward

This is exactly right - both are pointless right now. You basically always try and kick it just short of the red on the first timer and then push the second timer wherever.

Kicking distance is pointless if it’s not linked to the second bar. There needs to be a sweet spot marked on the second timer - the size of the sweet spot (and speed of the timing bar moving) should depend on how hard you’re trying to kick it, how far you are out, the angle you are on, the wind, and the players goal kicking/kicking ability. Miss the sweet spot a bit and the ball goes left or right. Miss it a lot and you shank it. Set shots from 35+ should not be gimmes.

The steam patch is really, really good. We're creeping towards a free flowing game.

My tips for nuffies like me -

  • marking is everything. Without getting the knack for the timing you're probably going to lose (medium+).
  • don't worry about switching control for short passes, the AI is going to mark it and you could stuff it up.
  • make sure you take control for long kicks though, odds of a grab or punch are far greater.
  • a good default for centre bounces is handball-handball-kick (three players)
  • make sure your wings are good at kicking goals

Ross (if you see this) - when the dust has cleared can you consider the crowd beginning to cheer before the ball goes through the goals, like in a real game? Especially if it's a high ball going straight through the middle. Also can the score please update when the umpire has signalled a goal, not before.

Player movement still rough at times but looking great and gameplay getting better and better. Two thumbs.
 
How do i win a ruck tap- im doing exactly what the guide says to do and cant get a single ruck tap.
I really hope someone isnt beating me online who just spams buttons.

Yep with the interchange working in this game now it really does make it feel like a real traditional AFL video game especially tonight when I saw Tim English dominating on a half forward flank, Sam Taylor on a wing and Stephen Coniglio at centre half forward.

Seriously it’s the most obvious solution that’s been there for every AFL game from the IR Gurus days; have players have preferred positions (preferably editable) and make it so they can only go into those positions during a game.

I would love for one day you could set up interchange and time spent where on ground percentage for players especially ruckman, so the main ruck could ruck for say 75-85% but when their stamina does go to a certain point they go off and the 2nd ruck takes over automatically but once some stamina has returned the main ruck actually comes back on in the ruck and the 2nd ruck returns either forward or to the bench.

You could even get to the point where you setup each players time they spend in a specific positions from 0-100%, for example a ruck combination like Gawn and Grundy it would be set up; Gawn: Time in Ruck 60%, Time in forward pocket 30%, Time on Bench 15% and Grundy: Time in Ruck 40%, Time in Forward Pocket 40%, Time on Bench 20%.

They are probably tired af, time for a day off, visit to the strip club. Come back refreshed.

I hope you're kidding, they were low budget "balance sheet" imitators of Big Ant, that never wanted to simulate the sport, just kept on imitating Live 2011 without half the gameplay features. The developer they're imitating would be better off just keeping on developing the game, it looked unfinished even in the demos.

I like some of the quirks I've recently seen (may have been in the game for ages, I just never noticed). Like seeing the look away handball animation (not the glitchy handballs that travel 80% of the ground but proper passes).

Also saw a double fist spoil. Nice additions along with the spinning through traffic animation.

Another thing I picked up on, its easier to evade/side step tackles when not sprinting. Was amazed how often I got away with it considering the AI has gotten better at sticking tackles over the past few patches
 
Real duality of man between here and some of the twitter comments. We’re thirsty for more patching, people in there having a dig in the comments over there that they’re still patching… interesting
