Seems like patch notes are out already .. not sure how to feel about it.. thoughts?? 👀
Sliders in is a plus. No changes to management mode for longevity is a bit of a whack

But that’s not what we’re talking about, we’re talking about whether they could handle the workload of 4 games.

Whether you think think those games are good or not is irrelevant
It’s all relative.
Their launches have been atrocious for years. They struggled making 1 or 2 games a year. Let alone 4

Tossing up between the video either coming out at like 10pm, or them posting "We didn't mean tomorrow tomorrow, we meant Thursday tomorrow" around the same time.

Also what's the over/under on the video length, 30 seconds?

They will release it right on the start of the mid season draft. They are just a degenerate company full of incomplete cretins

I’m fortunate to say outside of AFL, I’ve never played any of their other games. Out of curiosity, have they actually released a game smoothly in the past 5 years? I’ve read about plenty of uproar about the cricket, rugby and tennis games in recent years all releasing pretty buggy to begin with.

Probably a 20 second video that the AFL are holding onto so nothing steals the limelight (be it negative or positive) from the mid season draft.

The only other games I’ve played of theirs is the Cricket series. Don Bradman 14 was elite. I don’t really remember Don Bradman 17 but the Ashes series after which I believe started in 2019 have all launched in a buggy state with simple things like the fielders not stopping a boundary, the wicket keepers teleporting, the ball glitching through the bat/pads onto the wickets etc.

So not that I’m aware of. Obviously we all know about tennis and how that went

No conspiracy’s here we are talking about the track record of 4 delayed games in 12 months that is the issue here. They may have legitimate reasons why pro team has been delayed but when you’ve bungled 4 releases this year and it’s mid way through 2024 and people are still waiting for a huge selling point for the game still it’s not good.

Unless you have a shooter or RPG game like Fallout or GTA for example that have longevity in playing most sports games have a very short shelf life. I mean within this same time frame of AFL23. MLB the show has released 2 games, F1 in a day or two will have had two titles release , NBA and Madden will be on track to have had 2 titles out in that time span also.
The fact the game is still broken and bugged is a big reason why a lot of people stopped playing it. There's also zero replayability with the gameplay. There's no player instructions, no custom formations and no custom tactics to get different styles of matches happening, nor are the controls fine tuned with any precision to play. It's one of the worst games to control in my experience, not even Live 2 was anywhere that bad in terms of user commands, and that game wasn't good.

How was the game intended? It's been 13 months and all the promised features aren't even there, meanwhile the game is still littered with teleportation and other ridiculous bugs.

When the game launched, tackling didn't work. It took them months to even add in-game tactics.

If it really was a patch that broke the game (I don't think they ever confirmed this information, we've just been left to speculate?), then why not just roll back to a version that wasn't broken. Why spend 13 months fixing something step by step that already existed in its completed form? It doesn't add up, does it?
I was hearing from some that the demo was fantastic, but from the footage available of the demo, you can see it had even worse movement bugs than what the game currently has now. I saw many times players not being able to turn in the demo, almost as if they were hitting invisible walls or "stuck in the mud". I think this whole, "there's a better version of the game in the cardboard" excuse is just a scapegoat for the fact the game was released unfinished, made very fast, without any real testing or proper direction.

He was just being a smartarse on the BigAnt forum
People were complaining that we won’t get a trailer today and he replied with something along the lines of “yeah because the day ends at 7pm”

Isn't he meant to be the community manager?

Laughable organisation.

Kind of forget that it's a business sometimes. So used to the contempt they have for their forum users that it feels more like bigfooty mods cracking down on an AFL23 thread than a company talking customers who have paid $100 apiece for their product (sorry mods 😅)

It's really quite impressive how the whole company seems to have so much contempt for their consumer. And I'm saying this as someone who does enjoy the way game plays at the moment, but man they don't really go out of their way to make you feel valued as a customer.

Like, this whole thing is their MO to a tee.

Announce date, miss date. Only announce it 3 hours before launch day. Don't apologise. Does anyone else at work apologise a lot for things that aren't their fault? It's empathetic. Even if it is indeed a platform holder issue, you can still apologise.

To make it up, yeah we'll hook you up with a video tomorrow. As soon as that was mentioned, you could absolutely 100% guarantee it would come out at the very end of the day. Why? Because that's how they do things. "Yeah you'll get it tomorrow, but you can wait until the very last minute you dirty scum."

Why the smoke and mirrors, the game mode is ready is it not? Is it really an all day (like ALL day) job?

And then people ask where it is. The standard business day has ended, people are jumping on their devices. Where's the video? Cue snarky response. Not "We want to make sure it's perfect and showcases the best parts, please just be a bit more patient," but biting sarcasm.

And of course it still hasn't surfaced, and at the very last minute when it does surface, what'll it be? 30 seconds? "Yeah we had it recorded and edited by 9:05am but decided to upload it at 10pm because **** you. What!? It's still today for another 2 hours, nyuk nyuk nyuk."

Gone is the company that gave you a peek behind the curtain for the love of the game. Replaced with a company that has almost eroded all the good faith they once had from even their most staunch of supporters (hi), and seems irritated at best by their customers having the audacity to be frustrated at their constant stumbles at every hurdle.
