That actually looks alright and I’m keen to try it out but this still feels like something we should’ve seen in a second game, the focus in game one should probably have been management mode/player career.
I’m still sticking to my prediction that there won’t be any legends in pro team anymore.
It also bugs me that we can’t design our own team logos/guernsey using the academy, it’s one of the things I hated in the little bit of ultimate team I played in fifa, every team has a Barcelona kit with a Man U logo.

That genuinely looks like a 1 man team player mod, the low res art assets on some of those screens are hilarious.

Would have thought they’d have shown a few legends on there too but maybe that’s the burning question will there actually be legends like they said ? Don’t look too bad but again this is BigAnt we are talking about, so this could turn out to be shit in the game

Trailer actually looks solid, pleased to know it’s sort of close to releasing. I don’t even have a way to play the game anymore right now but I might go out of my way to buy a new PlayStation to play this. Just not big on online gameplay though, the latency kind of bugs me.
Big Ant games have never been rock solid with 1:1 connections - one player always has a latency advantage over the other.
They're still good couch co-op/grudge match games though (allowing patience for the game bugs that appear of course).

Yeah first thing I thought also. Massive missed opportunity (again) pretty safe to assume Legends is why most people even have interest in Pro Team.

One feature I did like is the abilith to pick in the packs. Nothing worse in FIFA tjan grinding out rewards and getting duplicates and.untradeables.

Spot on. Really what else is the point of the mode if not for the Legends? 2K have a huge list of Legends in MyTeam along with the fact they routinely add more. I hate the whole micro-transactions but if you’re willing to grind for a Legend its mostly worth it.
I mean, it's not awful, i know it's subjective, umm...definitely try changing the sliders if you haven't already, i posted some up a few pages back if you want more free-flowing spillage, classic style football and play around with the sliders etc..
there are a few things they can improve, no doubt.
I was wondering this, and i'm thinking, maybe Legends is there but it's not announced?? But yeh it's a bit of a drawback.
It was just a sneak peak video, not claiming to be a comprehensive show all… and given they didn’t show a bunch of the game modes from the menus (Coach Battles, Ladder Leaders, Premiership Challenge, Objectives, Team of the Week etc,) or the currency side (stars, coins, XP), I’m hoping the legends are just one of those things they didn’t show, but are actually in the game.

They only showed a Bronze pack in that video, a Bronze pack isn't going to contain a legend card I dare say.
Similar to EA FC, if you open a plain gold pack you're not getting an Icon player in it.
Keen to learn more about all the different modes and menu options within it, has a bit more to it than I was expecting.
Picking a club anchor at the start is a interesting concept too.

There is something funny about the game being called AFL23 and releasing a new game mode in 2024 that references 2023 over every card. I guess they knew they were backing themselves into that corner when they released the game but it’s still just a little funny.

It's again just a bit of a, "Why is it only a sneak peak video?" though. What have they got against marketing?
The game hasn't gone above 100 simultaneous players on Steam since May 2023. It's been below 30 average players since June 2023. If they think people are suddenly switching on in droves for a game mode they know nothing about, they're even more delusional than thought.

Which is why I would have thought showing a snippet with Legends in the pro team would be the best option to try and draw people into this game.
Let’s face it as you said it has a small minority of players right now and I think the only way they could remotely draw anyone who hasn’t got the game right now to go and get it would be the legends in pro team. At the very least they could have show cased some top tier players in packs. I don’t think anyone wants to bronze pack of 60 rated players as a selling point.

Last night's rant aside, I'm keen to actually check out this mode when it does finally arrive.
I've only ever briefly checked out the mode in NBA etc but don't know enough about who is good in those leagues, or tbh play the games enough, to actually get invested in it. Here's hoping the mode is actually fun enough to keep people coming back.
For anyone who has played these modes before, what is usually the goal? Is it just a constant pursuit of getting better players via the pack? Is there a ranking system or something?
Yeah not sure.
It'll be interesting what is in that 'Guide' section, and whether or not we'll see any more videos when it's launch.
I agree more detail would be good to see. I really liked the EAFC Ultimate Team explanation videos in the lead up to release.
