He was just being a smartarse on the BigAnt forum
People were complaining that we won’t get a trailer today and he replied with something along the lines of “yeah because the day ends at 7pm”

It's really quite impressive how the whole company seems to have so much contempt for their consumer. And I'm saying this as someone who does enjoy the way game plays at the moment, but man they don't really go out of their way to make you feel valued as a customer.

Like, this whole thing is their MO to a tee.

Announce date, miss date. Only announce it 3 hours before launch day. Don't apologise. Does anyone else at work apologise a lot for things that aren't their fault? It's empathetic. Even if it is indeed a platform holder issue, you can still apologise.

To make it up, yeah we'll hook you up with a video tomorrow. As soon as that was mentioned, you could absolutely 100% guarantee it would come out at the very end of the day. Why? Because that's how they do things. "Yeah you'll get it tomorrow, but you can wait until the very last minute you dirty scum."

Why the smoke and mirrors, the game mode is ready is it not? Is it really an all day (like ALL day) job?

And then people ask where it is. The standard business day has ended, people are jumping on their devices. Where's the video? Cue snarky response. Not "We want to make sure it's perfect and showcases the best parts, please just be a bit more patient," but biting sarcasm.

And of course it still hasn't surfaced, and at the very last minute when it does surface, what'll it be? 30 seconds? "Yeah we had it recorded and edited by 9:05am but decided to upload it at 10pm because **** you. What!? It's still today for another 2 hours, nyuk nyuk nyuk."

Gone is the company that gave you a peek behind the curtain for the love of the game. Replaced with a company that has almost eroded all the good faith they once had from even their most staunch of supporters (hi), and seems irritated at best by their customers having the audacity to be frustrated at their constant stumbles at every hurdle.

Haha excellent post. Bang on the money

Couldnt agree with you any more than I do mate but unfortunately, this is their MO to a tee. They really don't give 2 shits about their customer base and there’s some pretty glaring examples of that along this whole debacle. I remember Ross on here last year being snide about taking peoples money and saying ‘That’ll pay for my beer at the footy’ and being a w***er towards WW (who incidentally still have the better AFL game).

Then there’s last nights X post about ‘We’ll upload a short video since we get so many requests’ SERIOUSLY?! 🤣 so there was never a plan to re-promote Pro Team and I dunno…..maybe try to generate some interest in your game again?! Amazing promotions team. Like I said before, kids in a playground and nothing more.

And let's also add that if someone is expected to stay back in the office until after 10pm to compile this video, your company has a seriously toxic culture. Especially if it's someone like JNT who's probably not on anywhere near enough money for these to be reasonable expectations.

The video as you said should be part of the promotional/release work and not something tacked on for a QA worker to do at 10pm on a Wednesday night.

AFL23 PRO TEAM Announcement

While best efforts have been made to release a video showcasing AFL23 Pro Team mode, unfortunately there is a short delay as we await approval from platform holders.
We thank you for your continued patience and will update on progress at the earliest opportunity.

Genuine question, would anyone making a complaint to the ACCC have a leg to stand on?

On SM-S916B using BigFooty.com mobile app
I don't know but I think it would be more worth our time investigating that and getting everyone who bought this game either their money back or a payout than waiting for Big Ant to release Pro Team and the rest of the stuff they promised from the beginning. Would probably guarantee better communication as well as that smart-alecky behavior and contempt they have for the customer won't work very well in the legal system.

Jeez, Really hit the nail on the head there and honestly, I'm in the same boat as you. Gave them a chance at the beginning and pretty much burned all of their goodwill with me thanks to this terrible communication, contempt for paying customers and lack of apologies for the state the game is in.

It almost feels like the main thing to them is having the licenses they have so that no-one else can have them. They don't want to actually engage, They don't want to listen to feedback. They just want us telling them how great they are and how lucky we are to have them making a game for our sport.

It honestly feels like Big Ant are acting like a spoiled brat with loads of toys who only wants them just so no-one else can have them. Seriously feels like a 180 from the Big Ant of old... Or maybe they're just showing what their true colours were all along...

I'll give WW this, They might have struggled to make their AFL games and they were definitely rough at the edges but they at least listened to feedback and tried to be open about improving things when they did. Big Ant just expects us to take what they give us and praise them and seem to get very upset when we even bring up even the most minor of issues or any sort of feedback of what they should probably do.

It's been a long road so far and it's going to be an even longer road with these guys... What a joke...

It’s up on their twitter!

It took 13 months to make that... I know I'm not the target fan of these modes but jeez... I feel like priorities could have been focused on other things besides that... Fairly underwhelmed with that.

This game just screams badly planned out from the beginning. It's like the opposite of AFL Live. That game was planned out from the very beginning and had focus, AFL 23 felt like they were flying from the seat of their pants from the moment it was announced and like things were announced on the fly that moment...
