I love the amount of time and effort the same handful of people spend here whinging and spitting the chewy, especially those who apparently hate the game so much and think it sucks yet here they are….in this thread every hour….talking about AFL 23….
Because they really care about having a good AFL game?

What? I saw them (and experienced all those issues myself) and Michaels even said those issues only happened online.

What are you saying does not exist?
I haven't personally experienced them (on pc), I'm talking about the ones michaels pointed out, the game runs far smoother offline

You can only blame yourself if you believe single player mode is still coming, it's well known, and doesn't take that long to find out

The communication has been fine, it's not 'radio silence', find me another game dev that is on a forum consistently posting for months
I'm not the one who believes that. I thought I made that clear...

I've been on the thread since Day 1 and have known about the cancellation of Player Career when it was first announced. I was just using that as an example as I've seen plenty of tweets from people asking where is it when Patch Notes get posted up. (I honestly don't care about Player Career myself.)

I'm more saying their communication hasn't been the most effective. I appreciate them being here but it doesn't really help the thread when people are asking the same questions over and over and they don't get an answer. I think that's part of why things turn into such a mess here...

(About stuff like the implementation of Tactics and that.)

I think Big Ant are insulated by the fact they have a monopoly.

The same disastrous launch happened with AO Tennis and Cricket 22 and it didn't change anything because they knew people will still buy their products. Hence AFL 23's disastrous launch.

Big Ant won't change their practices until people stop buying their games, and people won't stop buying their games because they're the only option in town if you want a cricket or footy game.

I can’t speak on the previous BA games as I have absolutely no clue.

But I have to ask what makes BA think they could get away with these practices in the first place? They aren’t exactly an established studio setting the world ablaze with their games to begin with like surely if you’re a smaller studio from Australia who is producing the only AFL game, wouldn’t you just do the right thing and do your job as you’re supposed to? Maybe I just would expect there should be some passion for this project from BA.

It’s just something I more expect from an EA or a 2K hey — I do hope BA aren’t actually being smug about this whole ideal and it has been a genuine attempt at making a great footy game. I’m going to continue to give the benefit of the doubt over the next couple of months personally but again I hope there can be some takeaways from this that have a positive effect on future BA games. If they don’t learn anything from this, welllllll time to use overseas devs AFL.

Wasn't directed at you specifically

Probably because A. They have a history of trolling this thread
or
B. The question has been answered already, if they aren't answering you there's a reason, they aren't ignoring them for the sake of it

I’m confused. You said the issues I mentioned don’t exist online, Michaels even confirmed they did.

Now you’re talking about offline when your initial post stated online.

My mistake, meant "Many do not exist in offline play"
Fair enough but some do still exist offline, that was my point.

Online has all those issues, offline has some of them and many of them have been issues/bugs since launch.

These should be a priority and should have been a priority since day 1.

I get that and I appreciate you saying that. It can be hard to read tone on the internet.

I think I'm just getting frustrated with how long it's taking for the game to be fixed and how much stuff I have to sift through in this thread to get the details I want to see.

It's fine, owned but not seen. /Ignore

Thoughts on the meter:-
  • it takes a while to load up (this was on Normal difficulty, which may be a factor)
  • definitely makes in-play shots harder
  • need to check the wind to get the correct position
  • players do kick on their opposite foot now!

What’s not shown, and I’m wondering if it is a factor in the resulting kick, is:-
  • what would be the goal ‘zone’ on the meter? i.e left and right post, not just a single line. (Maybe this should be shown?)
  • player skill, and what effect it has on the goal ‘zone’?
  • game difficulty (does it make the goal ‘zone’ less/more spread)?
  • preferred/opposite foot (does this make you more/less accurate)?
  • could the meter charge up at different speeds (would love some magical quick snaps, ala Nick Davis)
We've gone back and forth on the idea of posts on the meter - tried a lot of variants, if one of them is to be used it would likely be the two Goal Posts.

All of the other mentioned items are in play;
  • player skill, and what effect it has on the goal ‘zone’?
Effects the distance, accuracy of the kick and timing.

  • game difficulty (does it make the goal ‘zone’ less/more spread)?

There is a difference in the timing (charge/aim speed based on player attributes) but is not a big spread right now.

Fantastic! Thanks for the response.

For anyone still complaining about communication, please refer to the above post.

Did he mention anything about the xbox release? Or where tf tactics are? Thats the communication we want.

Yeah, it’s the complete radio silence on tactics than has me bemused.

Rest of the communication has been great and is a lot more than any other developer would produce, but when there’s various people asking the same question and hearing crickets, it leaves some questions.

Has been a pretty obvious trend that the questions that are consistently ignored are because answering them will not go down well. Has happened throughout, replies come to things that are getting actioned and will get positive responses but anything that we won't like the answer to doesn't get answered, until it absolutely has to (eg game delay).

So definitely warning signs for tactics, can't see them coming this week and have a feeling they may not come at all now.

They're coming, I've got nothing to add other than that.

Do we really need him to come in every day, and respond to every person asking about them about where tactics are at internally?!?!
This response is good enough.... and any timelines he puts up will just anger people if they're not met.

Won the 2023 Flag, went into list management below salary cap, let the team handle it and this is what happens. We're clearly a great club to play for :p 1685498154737.png

BigAntStudios Ross can I ask about if player control/movement is being addressed in patches soon please? I have submitted tickets on this and feel this is probably the one big issue that needs to be patched soon. There’s just some extremely odd moments in games where kicks or handballs or even players dont seem to move where directed….mostly on angles also. Thank you!
