Is this in play now, a new season/manager mode or attempting to continue on from an older season/manager mode save ?
Trying to get into my old manager mode save, the game which worked was a play now

how are the ratings? better?

Way worse!!! They are shocking. Cripps being an 86 2 seasons removed from a Brownlow is shocking. Merrett above Daicos is very questionable. Theres a ton of really odd choices and I doubt any of this is Champion Data related.

PS4 slim: game runs too quickly now.
Xbox One: runs too slow and is constantly patchy during matches now.

This patch was out of the blue so hopefully they are in quick spin to repair the season mode crashes and the late April one goes ahead with additional features etc. Have played a few games of the patch over the last day. Main things I've noticed:
  • Opposition are now kicking 4-5 behinds a game, with the odd out on the full. Much better than the 100% accuracy they were displaying.
  • Set shots have a bit more swing in them and wind impacts stronger.
  • Handball chains have improved - I had a decent run of about 12 handballs from the back pocket to the wing before I could get a safe kick away. Felt a lot more fluid than previously and was a really enjoyable passage of play (even though I fluffed the subsequent shot on goal and was run down).
  • The AI difficulty appears to have dropped even more. I'm on hard and it currently feels like easy, whereas after the 2024 update, it felt at worst medium.
  • James Worpel had his hair changed and now looks like Stan.
  • The stats screen on manager mode finally shows as sorted and somewhat accurate goals and disposals from last week (except not sure about marks on the right there).
  • Not getting any crashes on management mode, but I'm also still playing through a save file from pre-2024 update.

This was my concern - slow down/make ball movement 'easier' and you're essentially making the game easier. And the game is already too easy, so unless the mechanics for defence were entirely revamped which was never gonna happen, making it easier to string plays together is just gonna make the game too easy. And it already is too easy.

Online makes for good battles though!

Had a game last night where I definitely deserved to lose, my opponent had me covered and got out to a 15 point lead which I managed to drag back. I hit the lead in the last with about 45 seconds left. He goaled in the next 15 seconds and I managed to get a mark and goal after the siren from basically the top of the square.

Had a similar one where I was behind for the second half of the game and had numerous opportunities in the last to hit the front but I couldn’t kick a goal to save my life. One point in it, got clear inside 50 and the opponent pushed me in the back.. right on the siren and the game didn’t register it to give me the shot after the siren unfortunately.

Apparently the game is unplayable on Steam right now to the point where the team is trying to fix it and telling people about work arounds they can use.... It apparently crashes in any mode as soon as it gets to the centre bounce...

Absolute joke... They were clearly not ready to make this game and it shows...

Part of me just wants them to pack it in with AFL 23 at this point, rebuild the game from the ground up and not announce it until it's 100% finished and ready to go out of the box. I don't care if it takes 5 years, 7 years or 10 years, If Big Ant actually care about this sport as they say they do, They'd do it but there's as much chance of that as pigs flying.

Really, This go around has sucked my enthusiasm out of AFL games and I'm frankly not interested in any future games right now. All I ask is that everything in your game actually functions properly and almost 12 months since the launch, It doesn't. It flat out doesn't.

It truly feels like we make no progress because as soon as things seem to take a turn for the better, Something breaks the whole game again and we're back to where we were.

I don't care who does the next game, Just make sure the damn game is finished and works before you put in on shelves... That should be the bare minimum...

They plan to do a hotfix for this but I'm just so tired man...

After the last patch (where I was getting crashes on pc at boundary throw ins) I'm yet to have a single crash.... granted I've only taken the risk of play now matches lol.

ps4 slim: Had a bit of lag during games and one blue screen crash so far, some slowing down, some speeding up, I think the gameplay feels good overall. But yeh, needs an update fix.

Games (and sports games in particular) are not made as finished products any more. They'll be adding Pro Team as soon as they can just to make a few extra bucks even if the game is a buggy mess.

The right thing to do would be accept the issues, communicate that and set forth a plan to really make this game where it should be. But it's been over a year so that's wishful thinking. Look forward to a bunch more patches that slightly improve some things and make other things way worse.

I thought this was the season averages for the leaders of each category.
At least it used to be that, which you can check in the stats screen and divide by the number of rounds they’ve played.

It’s so obvious that ProTeam is going to absolutely destroy this game 🤣

It’s such a shame because the gameplay is now in a good enough state but everything else is just a shambles. We’ve got to be reaching record numbers for the amount of times a patch has broken the game. Would love to be a fly on the wall and witness the testing or lack there of.

I don’t disagree necessarily, but at the same time, who knows, maybe in a year we’ll be kissing the ground beneath their feet. I just don’t know anymore.

LOL is that what it is? I have no idea tbh. Most likely the case and it just happened to be that the goal kickers for Hawthorn that round kicked their exact average. Season total would be better to have there than averages or weekly total anyway. At least they got somewhere with it and it at least sorts properly

I wonder what the behind the scenes development was like, it doesn't feel like a planned product at all. Probably just different small teams working on stuff with no discussion, then they meshed it altogether. It never functioned like the actual sport.

Started up a new management mode, got two games in and was having a great time, went to quit back to the main menu and the game crashed so hard it completely froze my ps5.
