We will not win...:(

That's not the spirit notts as freddie slams his desk...

Bugger!! I've just knocked over and spilt what was a half full glass.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! We're Dooooooooooooomed... :p

Two outs from a team that has just beaten Sydney - Where is Tommy Collier? Does Banfield get a run?

Re: AFL 2nd Elimination Final Brisbane Lions V Carlton Official Thread

Bloody hell:(

Trying to work out what our team will look like:

B: McGrath Patfull Hawksley
HB: Hanley Henderson Macdonald
C: Rich Polkinghorne Brennan
HF: Johnstone Brown Sherman
F: Sheldon Rischitelli Rockliff
R: Clark Power Stiller

I: Harding Austin Redden Selwood

OUT: Black, Drummond, Roe
IN: Selwood, Hanley, Rockliff

Don't think that Roe will be dropped now. As much as his first 3 qtrs were shocking on Saturday night, his height will be needed down back. He might even start on Fev!

Should put Brennan at FF & run Roe as the second string ruckman! Let him run around the ground.

Is there anyone else in the two's with a bit of height & strength in form ? How about Acorn ?

Geez the thought of Roe on Fev sends chills down my spine that could be ugly:eek:

Re: AFL 2nd Elimination Final Brisbane Lions V Carlton Official Thread

Don't ever bother ringing to book tickets. Go to the local suburban outlets, at least that way you get to take the tickets with you! I heard that if you purchase the tickets over the phone you still have to queue up on game day at Gate 2 to collect them. What a nightmare! The wait at Kedron was only about 30 mins, would be less than that now. Only about 8 people in the queue at the most. Each ticket purchased had to be a separate transaction, but you're only charged one service fee. At Chermside they announced that you could only pay by cash or credit, not EFTPOS!

I wish I had known this before, up until now I have always worked in the city and have been able to pop out to get tix from an outlet or internet etc. Now living out in whoop whoop with a baby, over the phone was pretty much our only option today. So we have the major dramas of having to queue at the venue or try and get into the city to collect - what a piggin polava.

Why is it when it comes to finals you always feel like a second class citizen.

And then on top of that you charged like an upper first class jet setter!! Our seats are prime so we did a bit of rejuggling with the budget etc and came up with the $50.50 per ticket as stated in the pricing and then get told oh no your seat is actually in premium plus for a final so we either take the option of a relocate for the game or pay an extra $15 each to sit in our seat for the final!

I am so excited we have made a final for the first time in yonks and under Vossy as coach in his first year etc etc but this really leaves a stale taste.

Who would Patfull and Henderson match up on then?

I personally would rather be surprised by a win than surprised by a loss...

However, on the positive side, if we can win without 5 of our 7 most important players that confidence, form, etc could take us deep in to September. Especially if those players come back. It would also lead to a very happy night, and MANY celebratory drinks, for me:D

Stitchface has been queued up at Carindale for an hour already, and looks like another hour or so wait ahead.

Why the **** can't we buy these tickets online.

Re: AFL 2nd Elimination Final Brisbane Lions V Carlton Official Thread

I don't know how long i can keep up with waiting till Saturday.

This is without a doubt the best feeling since my last final attendance involving Lions and St Kilda at the Gabba.

Lions by 2.

She told me she was going to be waiting 120mins. I LOL'd.

Looks like she will be waiting as long as I did. 90 mins, what a farce.

Re: AFL 2nd Elimination Final Brisbane Lions V Carlton Official Thread

Fan****ing tastic.

Just like the last time Carlton came to the Gabba, they get gifted a massive platter of opposition injuries...

**** this sport.

Why do the footy gods look after this soulless, shameless club, completely lacking in integrity.

....and the time before that you got gifted some injuries with Jamison (aka Bradshaw's blanket) out.....the two previous meetings he was injured during the game allowing Bradshaw to actually do something.

No Jammo, no Waite, no Austin, no Hadley, no Warnock (maybe).

Honestly the level of pessimism on this board is astounding.

You just beat an in form Swans, playing for the jumper (retiring stars) at the SCG......

You don't need Simon Black to apply pressure around the stoppages. Anyone can come in and do that. It's a mindset, not a skill level.

BTW, if you didn't notice the team that rarely scores above 70 pts just took us for 176........surely Brown and Brennan will be licking their lips.

Are you surre Voss isn't playing some "ducks and drakes"? Bradshaw must be a smoky......heals well that bloke.

I think both teams have done well to make the 8, and hopefully the game will live up to the last 2 we have played up there.

Blues by 1 pt.

Good luck guys (but not too much :thumbsu:)

The guy ahead of me in the line today said exactly the same thing! He said it's because the game is being played at the Gabba but the games in Melbourne can be purchased online.

Re: AFL 2nd Elimination Final Brisbane Lions V Carlton Official Thread

BOOM

BRING IT LIONS BRING IT

In a nightmare scenario for rookie coach Voss, vice-captains Simon Black (hamstring), Jed Adcock (knee) and Daniel Merrett (hamstring) as well as key forward Daniel Bradshaw (quad) and Josh Drummond (quad) are rated "unlikely to play" the Blues.
Black and Drummond went down in the Lions' gutsy last round win at Sydney while Merrett, Bradshaw and Adcock are battling to get off the injury list.
"Normally I would say they are 50-50, but they are probably less than that," Voss said of his injured players.
"We will forge ahead without them there.
"We will plan ahead without them. Obviously the personnel we have, have got a job to do.
"It will be a good challenge for us against good opposition."
But the Lions are no strangers to soldiering on through an injury crisis this season.
After finishing sixth, they have made the finals for the first time since losing the 2004 flag to Port Adelaide despite long term injuries to the likes of their specialist ruckmen Matthew Leuenberger and Jamie Charman as well as vice-captain Adcock.
"I'm extremely confident of what the players can produce," Voss said.
"This group takes in some really tough form into the finals. They have never given an excuse.
"You may might never have personnel there but you can never excuse poor effort - and they have always given that effort.
"They have fought themselves back into form, and always given that effort when they have needed it."
Despite a last round thrashing at the hands of Adelaide, seventh-placed Carlton will come into the elimination final with confidence after downing the Lions in both their regular season clashes this season

No Jammo, no Waite, no Austin, no Hadley, no Warnock (maybe).

We have other injuries too. We are talking about good/important players.

Re: AFL 2nd Elimination Final Brisbane Lions V Carlton Official Thread

The seating classifications for this game are totally different to your membership grades. My season tickets are Prime, right on the cusp of Premium in the Northern Upper, but for this the whole Northern Upper is Premium, so $64 a ticket instead of $50.50. I have 4 x $64.00 which makes for a very expensive night out.

IMO just another grab for extra cash by the AFL. Little wonder in recent years a lot of the finals crowds have been lower than normal season crowds as the average punter cannot afford this.

And on top of this Black, Merrett, Bradshaw, Drummond all look like being out. Still would not miss it.

This might cheer up some of the more pessimistic Lions supporters:

G Hocking, Bairstow and Couch were all late withdrawals this afternoon and Geelong pumped us. Lord was considered BOG by many in just his 2nd senior game.

Just goes to prove that anything can happen in finals footy.

Re: AFL 2nd Elimination Final Brisbane Lions V Carlton Official Thread

i had this dream that the lions win with out our key players
this was my dream B.L 99 CARL 77:D

Re: AFL 2nd Elimination Final Brisbane Lions V Carlton Official Thread

We will win.
Love your optimism! :thumbsu: There's no doubt that we will have some BIG outs for this match but I'm sitting here trying to remember other matches where we were missing our star players and we still pushed the dominant team deep into the fourth quarter. Playing against Geelong last year at Skilled Stadium without Browny and Blacky comes to mind. Also playing St Kilda this year without Merrett and Drummond I think was another example. Now I know we are facing the prospect of losing more than just a couple of our outstanding players but the youngens are more experienced now, they have played high pressure footy like the rest of the side. I have faith that all the Boys, whoever makes it on the paddock will stand up and do us proud. It will be our job as supporters to scream our lungs out, to clap, stomp and cheer our loudest to make the most of the home ground advantage. Let's bludgeon the Blues or die trying. We've waited five years for this!
