Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Barmy we still have midfielders at the center bounces though, they aren't playing deep then.

hey buddy, i agree 97% :thumbsu: i was merely trying to illustrate TBC's point cause people seemed confused by what he was saying, and i thought i understood. I know there were still gun midfielders at the clearances, but the 3% missing from my total above also does understand that we werent at full strength, regardless of how good who we had in the middle was. i think our clearance numbers will definitely be higher with blake in, than blake out.

Re: 2nd Qualifying Finals Post match Thread

Why on earth do you think Geelong's number of clearances would fall because defenders were missing? What evidence do you have to back up your claim that this trend is a mere coincidence?

I didn't explain my complete opinion yet again as i have already done so about 5 times in various threads to which several people have agreed.

Well for starters what "evidence" do you have it isn't a coincidence?

Moving on though.. Simply having the likes of Corey and Bartel at the bounces does not mean much when they are focusing on defense. I am sure several people will say the best defense is a good offense but if they had of attacked to try and clear it and either an opponent got the ball or it was turned over they were in trouble as they would be in a bad position to play the defensive roles they were placed in.

Ok for the 4 games Blake was gone we averaged 37.75 hit outs per game. From the Sydney and WB game with blake back we managed 37 per game. (Had to exclude freo game as with otto that taints it i believe) but just for arguements sake including the freo game it was 37.6666 hit outs per game with Blake back.

So not a massive hit out difference with Blake there or not. So if it isn't the hit outs that were causing the clearance problem then what was it? You may say quality>quantity but you can hardly say Blake is good when it comes to hit outs to advantage.

Still in the end you can't really explain it all when it comes to stats as there is way to many variables in sport. Such as weather opponents varying player performances etc.

However i have had the same opinion since someone first used the fact that clearances went up with his return in his defense and i shall keep that opinion until i am proven otherwise. If Blake is dropped for the prelim (which i highly doubt) and our clearances drop a long with him then i will admit he has something to do with it. Otherwise i will keep thinking the same way i have been.

Just a note i did say he had pretty much nothing to do with them raising back up. It is obvious he had something to do with them but nowhere near as much as people make it out to be.

I'd assume a Friday night?

I assume Saturday night if its Collingwood, Saturday arvo if its Adelaide. Remember the last 2 years we have finished top and played the prelim on Friday night, but we finished 2nd this year.

Spot on - has been announced that if Adelaide win will be Saturday arvo, if Collingwood win will be Sat night. Gives Adelaide time to get home on Saturday and prepare for the GF if they win.
