Just have live trading of players in the 24hrs before and during draft night and get ****ing serious.

Like it currently should be.

Pick 21 for Darcy Moore ok good job

It should only be for uncontracted guys (ie fringe players who their clubs werent offering deals to until list sizes were confirmed) as they were the ones most affected by the list sizes debacle. Everyone else already had their chance to move.

If they're out of contract they'll be able to move as DFAs, and would only be traded for a token pick anyway, so that's a non-issue. And they can still trade picks now, just not players, so the issue with number of list spots vs. number of picks they are taking into the draft is also a non-issue. The only thing would be with the salary cap coming down if clubs need to trade out big contracts.

The main motivator for this even being floated is probably another 24 hours of the AFL in the news, clicks and ad space, which given the state of the treasury is probably not that silly. But it's still silly.

I reckon they'll ring up all the clubs and then decide not to bother.

I call it Trade Week 2 - Revenge of the Dodo.

Honestly, if this goes ahead the AFL needs to be looked into.

You cannot set parameters and rules of which interested parties make large decisions based upon and operate within, then change them after the fact. There is far too much money and other things at stake for this mickey mouse sh*t.
Part of me 100% Agee's with everything you have said. The other part thinks as a 1 off during these highly unprecedented times it isn't the worst idea as some teams may be left in the lurch because of the upcoming announcements.

What the AFL should have done is just wait until they have list sizes/salary cap and then started the trade period, even if it wasn't straight after the season.

I completely agree with everything after "if this goes ahead"

It's just you could've said it about a hundred times in the past 2-3 yeats

I wonder if Collingwood would like to trade their crummy pick 14 (probably another Fergus Watts) for our delicious pick 51 (likely another Jake Riccardi)?
