And the best 'bite' you could come up with is that some kids in our younger teams, all kids younger than 14, are bad winners.

You then take delight in other peoples loss, indeed you are making the most of your precious gift of life. No thought of being happy for the premiers?

I was happy for the Tigers netballers and sorry for our netballers, it was a great game of netball.

Our U14s played out of their skin and went down by 1 point in a cracking game yesterday. Life long lessons have now been learnt by those kids and they're all the better for it, win or lose.

It's unfortunate you view the world the way you do Flintstone. Perhaps if you relished success rather than wallowing in others misfortune, yourself and the club you love would be heading in a better direction.

I believe Saints are now in negotiations for sponsorship from a used car yard in town, would that make you happy or sad, Flintstone?

That's what I love to hear, our young en's playin their hearts out , trying to take home the prestige that comes with a win after a hard fought great season

well done lads & lassies :thumbsu: :footy:

some times I think,
we should stand back and watch these girls & boys play & remember,
when we did it was for the pure enjoyment.:D

Let's talk footy. Centrals V Port....is there any chance Centrals can get up? Would the big loss by Port last week affect them this weekend?? And Hawks V Saints should be a cracker. Saints will be missing a few, but are the hawks at full strength? I think this one will go down to the wire.

Port seem to respond to a bad loss and i think that will be the case this weekend. Saints should be pretty close to full strength this week i reckon with a couple to return also.
Port to meet Hawks in the prelim of both grades with Saints through to the big dance in both.

Centrals will push Port no doubt, but will not be discipline enough to get over them.

Hawks v Saints well what a game we will have here, almost tempted to give away the dog shows this weekend & have a Captain Cook at it. It will be worthy of admission for the day alone, could be the prelude to two weeks time.

NAH Hawks & Crocs to play off this years G. F.:p

my way of thinking, Souths got reasonable close last weekend but I think Manunda were really in cruise control. They will take it up another notch & be the first thru to tha Granny,

with Port & Saints playing off next week. ;)

Saints again seem to be in better form than anyone else coming into the finals, so I will pick them to go through first. Love the way Alex Macqueen takes the game on, and if he could kick straight he would be even better.

On the umpiring, I thought the inconsistency was the issue but the Saints boys did well to upset the Port lads which I reckon would have been noted by Viola.

Port will get through this week but it won't be all their way.

And Tamba's dogs to get 1st prize in the sitting contest, but fall short in best looking. I can picture a Miss Universe style setup for these shows in Innisfail.

Great game of Netball last week and even better to see the tigers get over the line. Took the wife and daughter down to watch and they mentioned 2 things, the tall shooter was the difference in the end and the Norths footy boys need to learn netball etiquette. Great to see both teams getting behind their girls!

Saturday at Cazaly’s should be a great day of football....

Saints vs Port - I'd expect Saints to turn the tables on Port with 6 players to come back into the side from the one that went down by 9 points on the weekend. Justin White up forward Saturday showed signs in the last half of his quality and will be an x factor for Port if Viola continues to leave him in the twos. Saints by 3 goals

Hawks vs Saints - clearly the match of the day and could go either way. Rep team CHF Poynter will be back and replace Kennedy in the side that made Port look second rate,. Cockfield, Finn, Crane and Ryan will all be pushing for selection after good games in the 2s last week. Hawks should get back Bartlett, Scrymgour, Powell and Freebody (anyone else Plugger??) which will set this up for what I believe will be the grand final preview. On the big Cazaly’s ground I think Hallas, Hislop, Mcqueen, O’Toole and Dixon will be too mobile for the Hawks backline. Saints by 4 points.. and Matt Walsh to slot into a fwd pocket in the grand final in two weeks’ time J.. has been kicking at training and will be back this yr...

Port Vs Centrals – Port will miss Ubergang in the middle who strained a Hamstring Saturday and came off early but still should have too much fire power up forward with Boxall and the 2 Shaw’s. Oughton and Crathern (may not be the last time this yr Oughton and Crathern are in the same sentence) in the middle for the bulldogs should give Dudley chances however Port should head through to the Prelim.. Port by 5 goals

Hawks vs Souths – Hawks accounted for Souths by 10 goals last weekend and with a few players to be dropped back to make way for the rested senior players expect Hawks to win by a cricket score… Hawks by 100+

Good luck to all teams and unlike miserable Flintstone I hope all teams can field close to full strength teams as this final series has the potential to be a cracker… Lets hope the umpires can have no say in the results also..

Player to watch for the finals will be Hislop from Saints… been in cruise mode all year but has lifted his work rate in the last month on the training track and is set to show his best...

Good write up ;) As for the guys to come back in, you are probably on the button. But it isn't Thursday night yet, the best and fittest 22 will play. As for Walsh, you need to make the GF first, and I don't believe he will be back in 2011 anyways ;) Be a great battle in the 1's on Saturday though.

As for the Magoo's, it was a great win last week. But we need to keep in my that South's 1's are gone for the season, so any of them who are qualified will be playing.

But the finals fever is in the air, and anything can happen in the finals ;)

Well done to the Tiger girls and also the club by following in the Saints foot steps and getting a netball team associated with the footy club.. Can only be good for the game up here.
The Nths boys certainly need to learn netball etiquette however was good to see a large number there to support.
30 plus senior players from Saints went to support the girls and then backed up on Sunday to support the u/14 boys who put up an amazing effort against much bigger opponents... The effort by Hallas and Parsons both senior players to give up every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday to coach the boys also shows the culture down at the Saints and why the club is going places...

I think the Norths boys had been on an all-day golf day which may have contributed to their ettiquette misdemeanors, but didn't detract from a great game, I think their overall impact on being there was a positive one. That big horse certainly had an advantage.

As for this weeks games, Hawks and Saints I'm sure will have one or two out each, but certainly less than at other times during the season. Will go right down to the wire that's for sure. What stood out on Saturday was that when Saints lost Kennedy and Coatsworth in the 3rd quarter, the rest of the team kicked it up a gear. Even if a team had an 8-10 goal break at half time, it could be reeled in.

Port v Centrals will be close until about half way through the third quarter when Port's class all over the ground will stand out.

Saints v Port in the 2s will be a great game. Both sides have 22+ genuine footballers to choose from, I know a lot of good players missed out for Saints last week. It will be the lesser lights that win the day.

Hawks will beat Souths, but neither of them will beat Saints and Port 2 in a row, so just playing for the extra week. I cant help but think perhaps the Hawks senior coach would prefer a loss to keep those players fresh who may be in with a finals appearance chance. Guessing the ressies coach and 22 won't feel that way, though.

No point in resting any players this week, every reserves grade player isn't thinking about going against Saints and/or Port the week after and losing. Believe me, the last thing from any of our minds. And I don't believe the seniors coach would think any differently. If you required to be rested whilst before finals and playing in the magoos for a spot in the ones. Then you are already fighting an up hill battle.

Both grades are coming into the finals series fired up and ready to go ;)

Should be a great day of footy across all four games.

Ressies:
Hawks to grab a 5 goal win backing up from last week
Port by a kick over Saints. I was at this game last week and it was a great game to watch. Both teams have real depth.

Seniors:
Hawks in a terrific battle, with the loser to roll Port next week.
Port by 80+ I think they'll be stinging and out to impress after last week's capitulation.

Have heard Kennedy retired? Coatesworth has a cracked rib? And Macqueen may have to miss due to work committments?

Any truth to these Saints fans?

Can't see Mark announcing that till after Saints last game, and unless it is a major injury doubt it.

Kennedy will hang up the boots, Coatsworth trained Tuesday night and doesn't have a cracked rib... and not sure on Macqueen

Training tonight, was there any surprises, players available that we thought would not make it

or not letting on ???

The word in Coatesworth was very ginger at training and Macqueen wasn't named in the AFL Cairns website...

Uebergang trained freely on Wednesday night so he will definitely play this week..

Coatsworth ginger? this coming from the bloke who was pretending to play lawn bowls while spying on training last night?? haha
I thought Coatsworth trained well.
Macqueen wasn't named but guess we will have to wait and see if he lines up or not on Saturday ;) .. I did noticed Shaw named on the bench and Hocking CHF for Port and Bartlett not named for Hawks so wouldnt read to much into the AFL Cairns website

It would take a very nasty injury for Coatsworth not to play. He has said many times he would do anything for the boys so if it means playing not quite right or not playing to benefit the side he will make the right call.
Can't read too much into the sides in the paper or net, they are never right. Ports team is never how they line up and the paper teams are closer to the team the week before because the teams have to be in early thursday night before they are announced

hawks by 5 goals in both grades
port by 59 over centrals
Port by 12 points in the reserves

We'll find out tomorrow if coatesworths ribs arent 100%, if they're not then he shouldnt play.
Macqueen isnt playing but wont matter because saints have depth to cover

Port v Saints ressies : Almost an identical game to last week. Saints started well leading at half time just for Port to work their way into the game and get home by a couple of kicks.

Hawks v Saints seniors : Well not too many would have predicted that result. Saints were far too good all over the ground with some Hawks players sniping when the game was getting out of hand (Ellich for 1) Hawks also had a player reported. Need to regroup fast if they want a rematch in 2 weeks.

Port v Centrals seniors : Not much of a game to watch this one. Close for most of the game till Port kicked away late in the 3rd then went on in the last. Port will need to improve 50% to beat Hawks next week.

Souths v Hawks ressies : Again not much of game to watch but that was more due to the rain. Hawks kept Souths at bay for most of the game with Souths giving themself a sniff late in the 3rd and coming home with the breeze. But Hawks held on for a 2 kick win. Souths full back even though went hard at it should have been booked as he went silly at the end and he was throwing elbows the entire game. Also one Souths fan made his club look terrible with his antics from Cazalays. Language was terrible and giving the umps a real earful which was shocking to hear.
