I haven't read the paper yet, but from what's been said here about it, I was right and the coach got to the bottom of the Hawks poor display and it was two injuries.

Guessing they won't train this week, they might get hurt on the track. Probably best they sit around and come up with some other excuses for poor performances in important games this week because the injury excuse is beginning to wear a bit thin.

On Saturday they will either pick people impervious to injury or cross their fingers they do not get an injury, as that kind of thing is unheard of in football!

I don't know if I want Port to win so the Hawks are out in straight sets or for Hawks to win so we can book the celebrations with a bit more certainty.

Very confident in beating Hawks there Saint. Don't get too far ahead my friend. And i doubt Saints will do a Port and get their premiership shirts made before the game is won

The playing group certainly don't think this... Most have been there before and know if it is either Port or Hawks it will be a tough game as all GF's are. Happens quite often a side wins by 100+ in the Semi and then loses the GF or the GF is very close..

Mcqueen and Walsh (if he gets through a week of training) to come back in will make a difference as in Saturday's game Saints missed Mcqueens crumbing in the Fwd line when Poynter and Dixon brought the ball to the ground.
G Martin holdin his head high was mentioned on here before?? So if a player gives away 50s and doesnt loose his cool he can hold his head high? Thought O'Toole and at times Hallas killed Martin as he runs off and gets burnt on the rebound... Coatsworth and Max make a point to kick to Martin's man as he is unaccountable....
Roach playing two games?? bit late to get fitness he needs to be a senior footballer.... And if he can't get game time with ALL those injuries that were mentioned in the paper why is he even in the side??

QUOTE from Monday's Cairns Post -
"Our performance wasn't good enough and I gave the boys a blast, but then said they had five minutes to get over it before they started thinking about next weekend" Hawks coach Paul Griffiths said.

He also went on to say that while the injuries didn't help, that the Saints were terrific.

Where in all of that, is an excuse. Yes he did mention two injuries because he was ASKED by the reporter about them. But I was right next to him and listened to the interview he gave and there was nothing but respect for the Saints and what they achieved as a club.

Mind you the more I read on here the less credit I give to most that post on here. Its turned into a forum for cheap shots, rubbish and arrogant banter that's not even funny.

So in line with these thoughts I will be checking out never to check back in.

Good luck to all still alive in the finals.

Worst thing I have ever seen written on here.

Of course it's for cheap banter and cheap shots, it's an anonymous football forum.

It's not much below the level of reporting in most daily newspapers though.

People will stop posting rubbish when people stop reacting. It's just fat people behind keyboards, so who cares what's posted on here.

If you seriously think it's going to inspire you to play better the arrogance or otherwise of other teams posts on BigFooty, you should have a look at your existing motives, because at this time of year, they should have already peaked.

At the moment, this week's game i'd say is 50-50 and every grand final is 50-50 and will be next week, but if you were to ask 4 weeks ago the Saints' chances of winning the flag, they would certainly be different to what they are now.

Here here, to both posts!

Saints arroagance? Or just a stupid opinion by one black sheep? Poor form and likely to reflect on the club in the minds of most on here.

Obviously most things posted are to create some banter but clearly a stupid opinion by one black sheep. You don't win 3 premierships in a row and put yourself in a great position to win a 4th by being arrogant… Saint's comment has done what I’m guessing he intended it to do and that was stir the pot… And if you are forming opinions on football clubs by what is posted on here you are a bigger Muppet than the people who post, myself included.
Just when it comes to Cutters its in the paper, on the field and on here where people are able to form their opinions ;).. Even Flintstone has seen the light

I think there is a difference between cheap banter and naming players names and bagging them for what ever reason...I have sat here and read some ordinary crap about Ehlich and Glen Martin on here. I think when it gets personal, then it stops becoming banter and starts becomiing inciteful.

I love a gag and a dig as much as the next bloke, but maybe keep it lighthearted or if you can't then just keep names out of it.

when players get named on here its because people have either pumped the players up and have let them down or the player has done something bad. Ellich was pumped up early in the year and in big games has let them down.
I regret putting him in my team of the year. Martin the same, he gave away the early free on saturday and then said he didnt care beacuse it was his last season. Booth has had a great year but hasn't done much recently. The players that get picked at are normally the better players and expect good games all the time. If you has to ask me to put a Saints player under the pump to be honest could not pick one over the past 4 or 5 weeks

haha...this is why we shouldn't even bother trying!

Nothing agaisnt the Hawks, but you'd hope there's better blokes involved with less narrow-minded, ignorant blokes in the club than Teamwork & Plugger. You blokes have deadset got your blinkers on to anything that isnt about Hawks, and even then you only see what you want to. As an outsider its clear that you both need attitude adjustments, cause you fellas even get your back up when someone gives the Hawkies a wrap. Deadset bedsheet babies, your mothers shouldnt have rolled over on the wet patch. Go West Coast this weekend. ;););) this is for Plugger, he seems to like leaving comments then ;););) for people to think he could be coming onto them.

You sound like a model citizen yourself, in fact you should probably consider walking down to AFL Cairns and asking for a bronze statue created in your honour.

Oh something is missing... ;)

Plugg3r, I consider this to be a great comeback. I have to admit that it gave me a laugh. Well Done:thumbsu::D

For what it's worth on form, I think it's going to be a Port V Saints GF in the Seniors and the same for the Magoo's.

I think Saints will be too strong in the Senior GF but I think if Port can keep their heads they'll run away with the Reserves Cup.

The senior game will be interesting, I hope both sides can play better footy than they did last week. I'll tip the Hawks to just get over the line, their midfield is to strong for Smith and his fellow Crocs.

Seniors - Hawks by under 10 points. I'd hate to be around the club if they lose this one.
Reserves - Saints, but only because Hawks are playing both games. Surely no Hawks will play 2 games this week Plugger? Maybe you could squeeze back into square...

Are teams stronger this year compared to last year? I think Hawks are better due to some good recruits. I thought Port lost a lot and so did Saints. Any word on coaching staff next year? Kane is coaching Norths again but I haven't heard of any others.

Port certainly have the players to win games off their own boot, like Shaw, Hocking and Smith, but probably drop away in their bottom players faster than the Hawks do.

I think it will be a close game, and wouldn't mind a bit of spite, but doubt there will be too much of that.

Flip of the coin, I'm going to say Port, because they've got the proven finals experience, which cannot be underestimated. I'm not sure how many hawks have had finals success, but Port havea few from NT don't they?

In the reserves, I'm tipping the Saints (obviously). They will have a few out from last week who have played seniors a lot of the year, but some of the guys who missed out last week are quality players and should be able to cover them. I think it will be closer than any of the games during the season though and will be alive right to the final quarter.

Doctor, I noticed N Crane running around in the twos on the weekend, which says alot about the depth at Saints. Is he he eligible to play twos again this weekend due to his time in seniors this year? Find it hard to believe hes in the twos, if I were a weaker club, Id be making a big play for his services for 2012.

Maybe Ben Hallas should be under the pump hey Lachrilly? All video footage I have seen of the guy indicates he doesn't like any physical contact. I suppose it's not something frowned upon being scared in a game of football these days. But if we are talking about critiquing players, he should be on the list right?

Scared i dont think so. The fact he is 50kgs ringing wet doesnt make him the perfect in and under guy. Come the big games last year and this year he has played very well. Hallas gets plenty of hard ball in my opinion.
i dont blame young guys or skinny guys for being more outside players as its just some peoples game. come the crunch i wouldn't mind having B.Hallas on my team. NEXT

Hmm, it sounds like your defended Hallas pretty strongly. Thats pretty biased Lachrilly, you know seeing as we're biased for doing the same thing for our players. It sounds like a pretty cheap out just because your small that you can be scared. There are many small and skinny players out there that have a backbone.

Just because Hallas isn't tough doesn't mean he's a bad footballer.

Some people just know their limitations. Why would you go flying into a pack if you're just going to end up having no impact?

You probably wouldn't have Hallas on your team, Plugger?

I don't think Hawks could afford the annual few of Hallas to be honest, Saint.
But he seems a decent enough footballer, we would just need to have him bubble wrapped pre game.
