Any chance you could create some sort of natural disaster that requires a few insurance claims? Keep it up north, I have have grown fond of the warmth.

What is the Mackay competition like compared to the Cairns one?

Swap Gill and Walsh. Gill definitely under double figures. Wind in Richter too. I think Tennick and Richter should be top 2, Gill 3rd then Powell (both) and Lewis. Maybe McQueen for top 5 as a roughy.

Is there an interleague game this year? Haven't heard much about it, who's coaching, etc. Is it in a months' time on the Queens' birthday weekend?

I am a natural disaster.

Mackay footy is worlds apart from Cairns footy. Usual things such as clubs more professional, more depth, bigger crowds, more class in terms of players and even tho there isn't a mountain of money in Cairns, there is some money.

Best players in Mackay footy would be 'there abouts' players in Cairns. But there are a few exceptions of course.

Put me down for Norths double into Walsh goalkicking into Richter medal,
This week Saints 133
Dogs 3
Norths 90

Things pretty much went as expected at Griffiths Park. 2 easy wins for Saints with Souths i must say disapointing in the ones. Never really looked like scoring and when their leading goalkicker spent most of the day in the Saints forward line you can see why. The only question out of the day is what the Souths coach was saying to his players after the game in the far corner of the ground way out of ear shot of anyone. He had them there for a good half an hour and only a massive spray could be the answer to why he took them so far away.

Wasn't at the game but heard things didn't look pretty.:(

How did the rest of the games fair??

Well Tommy, you'll be happy to know that my eldest boy made his debut for the Hawks today against his old team (the Cutters). He was marked heavily but managed a goal and at least 30 touches. The Hawks won by 60.

Norths beat Lions by 88 points this afternoon. Cities kicked 7 goals to 3 in the last quarter to narrow the gap a bit. Great day out there, massive crowd, credit to the Lions for getting it going and doing it well:thumbsu:

There is only one team that can win the premiership this season, it's that simple.

There is only one team that, if a miracle happened, and an epidemic went through Saints before the grand final, could upset and challenge, and that is Norths.

No other team has a snowballs chance in hell of winning the 2012 premiership. Saints have emptied their accounts this season and will go through undefeated.

Not this year. I repeat.........Saints won't be beaten:)

Quoted for truth:). Possibly could of posted it earlier but couldn't be stuffed looking. Yes there has been upsets/chokes in history but not this year. If Norths can get themselves a GF appearance that would be a massive step forward since their debacle against Port some years ago.:thumbsu:

After previous years, nobody at Saints is thinking anything like that, I can assure you. Don't forget we beat Hawks by over 10 goals three times last year, only to be beaten.

It doesn't matter by how much or how well you beat the lower teams.

Saturday was a bad day for Cutters. Can't think of one player for them that beat their opponent. They tried dropping a man back (Gascoyne) but the delivery into the forward 50 was coming in too easily. Souths were actually pretty good at the contested footy, just unable to get any decent ball use when they did win the contested ball.

No other real surprises from other games.

Gill's 10 goals puts him only 3 behind Walsh and well on his way to possibly kicking a ton and heat up the race between the two of them.

Tennick and Gill would be firming up for the league medal, along with Powell from Hawks.

Something has to be said soon about Nic Brabyons position in the Saints side.

These stats show that from a team averaging over 170 points per game (roughly 25-26 goals), as a key forward he is averaging less than a goal per game and before his 3 goal performance in their biggest win of the year on the weekend he had 3 goals from 6 games.

It cant be easy for him to get in front of the group and coach them how to play when the output he has produced is far from the lofty standards that they expect down there.

He is also yet to feature in the best and the games that I have witnessed he hasn't got near it. It would have been interesting to hear some of the thoughts at the 20 year reunion a few weeks back as to what some of the clubs best ever players thought about the 114kg coach plodding around the field not having any impact.

Some might say who cares? They win every game by 20 goals, what difference does it make?

Admittedly probably not much, but as the season wear's on and teams start to close the gap on the Saints (which they will) it could place them in a pretty interesting situation come the last few rounds or finals especially if there are some well performed forwards running around in the early game.

It also has the potential for a young 17-20 year old kid who is a 'fringe' player for the Saints this year but could be a key to the future to shut up shop and move on because he thinks he deserves a spot in the side over the coach.

Not much has been posted in here of late and thought it would be some food for thought.

Obviously another poster with no idea... Nic played in a the ruck while Ridges was out and his work against Centrals in the ruck was first rate, On Saturday he makred everything early and dished off to smaller players in the fwd line. If you were involved at Saints you would realise McQueen, Allan and Harkin have kicked plenty of goals mainly by roving to Braybon, Wlash and Gill.
Obviously playing along side the best 2 key forwards in the league and the best 3 small fwds in the league makes it hard to standout however within the club he is seen as doing his job by creating a contest, blocking for the small forwards and pinch hitting in the ruck

Nice try Trumpeter, there's absolutely no question about Braybon's place in the team.

If you look at how many goals Walsh, Gill, Allan, Macqueen, Braybon and Harkin have kicked as a unit, the forward line is operating beautifully down at the Saints. Defenders can't zone off and if the opposition drop a man into defence, they know they're always going to get a contest from Gill, Walsh or Braybon.

Braybon's contribution is also important (as shown on the weekend) that when Walsh isn't there, he steps into a different role, takes marks and kicks goals. In games with Walsh and Gill both playing, Braybon's presence means an additional tall option.

He's also been a back-up ruckman in all but the last game and was the only ruckman for a week or two (lions game at least), so wasn't expected to kick goals in most games. Since Mulvahill did his knee, he's the only backup for the two ruckmen who have missed about 8 weeks between them this year. Plays the third tall forward to a tea, considering he's got the two best forwards in the competition standing alongside, it's been his work that has allowed them both to be 1-2 on the goalkicking and both realistic chances of kicking a ton.

Saints ruckman for most of the reserves game on the weekend was about 5ft 9. Our young ruck prospects are still only 15-16, so probably have a few years yet to worry about them getting senior game time.

Last year's reserve ruckman is coaching senior Rugby and claims he's taken a lot to his rugby club from how Saints run the show.

I'm not saying your premise was stupid, (it was indeed food for thought) just wrong.

After watching Gascoyne on the weekend, I doubt he'd kick any goals in a forward line with Walsh and Gill in it either.

As a coach I don't think Nick can be questioned. He has recruited players to the club, set a game plan and standard that is being met each week and set clear expectations of his players prior to game and throughout the week. You are right though, if would be tough coaching from the sidelines and not get a game but it is a decision that is currently a long way off.

As a player I reckon Nick will be first to say he would like to get a few more kicks, but playing with an in form Gill and Walsh... I don't think anyone in this league would take many catches next to them. Find me 3 backs in one team (without depleting their whole game) who can shut down all 3 tall Saints forwards and you will have a reason why Nick could be dropped. Also, I think you will find one player who stood in his way couldn't do it again as he spent the rest of the game, and the next week, with some sore ribs.

The tigers will take Braybon, I reckon we are just a little bit short at the moment.

I will reserve my opinion until after this weekends clash. The saints have been ruthless against opposition sides while the Tigers are doing no wrong. Saints deserve to be favourites for this game and the premiership. If the Tigers play good honest footy for 4 quarters I reckon we are a chance, but going from all reports we will need the Saints to be off their game a bit. We should see some good footy.

Watsons - Where's Meuller? How long until Lukas is right?

Skip Gribbon has obviously had enough... He has put in a clearance to return to SA.
