All the results are now up on sporting pulse people.

Anyone at the Woden ADFA game? going off the 1/4 by 1/4 scores it appears Woden got the start but couldnt finish.... 8 goal 3rd quarter by ADFA and 12 goals to 5 for the second half, is it the fitness of the ADFA boys or did the Blues fall in a heap??

Looks like Bidgee had the upper hand all day against ANU, but it took Harman until the second half to get over the Demons. Any insight into the finals chances of ANU???? And speaking of finals chances, where do the weekends results put the Jets Ports? You were saying they were going to be near full strength on Saturday. Looks like they were competitive against the Magpies but still finished a few goals short.

As for the Tuggers v Ainslie game, I guess Ainslie have all but wrapped up the wooden spoon!!!!

Some very important games coming up for sides 2nd through to 6th in the last seven weeks of the home and away season. Does everyone agree that Eastlake and Woden have probably done their chances of a finals spot this year???

Yeah it seems we are still coming together, couple of late inclusions for guys that weren't quite right, but no excuses from us. Next couple of weeks will be telling though. No Wainers or Pellow on the weekend hurt us a little, will be nice to have them back.

ANU had 14 of their first team out on the weekend and are struggling to field a competitive side.

With the chasing pack suffering player loss through absence, injury and illness, the 4 could just about be sorted.

ANU and the Jets would still have hopes of going undefeated through to the end of the season and sneaking into the 4, but it is getting unlikely

Very hard to believe they had 14 of their first team out since I reconised more than 16 of them from their usually first team. They certainly had a couple of key players out but so does every team in the competition at the moment. The only team that hasn't seem to be missing players week in week out is Belconnen.

Just looked at Belconnen players used during the year - 50 players have played at least one game in their 3rd grade side! Admittedly a few have gone up to fill positions in higher grades (ACTAFL/Div 2 whatever) but that must cause a bit of unsettling amongst their team?? With some big injuries to Div 1 players at Belco it appears to be having a "flow on" effect through the club - Div 2 filling Div 1 spots, Div 3 players going up to Div 2 etc.

Does Harman still have an affiliation with Queanbeyan? If so, how are player movements managed back and forth? There have also been a lot of injuries at Queanbeyan recently and does that affect Harman being able to get their strongest team on the paddock.

Just a quick chat about finals, is the GF going to be held at Manuka again this year? I assume it will be a Saturday game. And does anybody know the location of the other finals venues? No ground (excluding Manuka) really comes to mind as a standout for a finals venue in the Districts comp. I know previously finals have been held at the mudpit at Jamo Oval, RMC and Greenway, but wouldnt it be nice to have them all at Manuka!

And as for the comment regarding umpires - they certainly have not improved in the past few years. I know it is easy to throw mud at these guys/girls, but in my opinion the game is "over umpired" where too many soft free kicks are paid. This leads to a greater chance of inconsistency throughout the match. Can someone please tell them to put the whistle away and let the game work itself out!!!

I know its early in the week for tips but here is my latest:
Div 3
Jets - without much resistance v Ainslie (and to think these guys had some cracking semi finals clashes a few years back)
Magpies - in another tough day at the office against the Hogs
Demons - comfortably over Tuggers
Hillys mob to topple ADFA
ANU in a close one with Woden

Div 4
An apparently injury riddled ANU to get done by Coota at Coota
Eastlake too strong for the mountain men from Cooma
The big one - I think Yass, just over the Jets
Belconnen to win away against Goulburn
Juggers to beat ADFA on Sunday

totally ill informed but there they are!!!:)

I have been told that finals will be at Ainlie oval this year for District. Not sure how locked in this is but i'm pretty sure it pretty much confirmed.

Regarding tips for this weekend here are my tips.

Gungahlin convincing winners over Ainslie by 100 pts
Belconnen over Harman by 3 goals
Tuggeranong to upset Eastlake by 2 goals (If the same side shows up from the game against Ainslie)
Murrumbidgee to beat ADFA by 7 goals
ANU to just beat Woden by 4pts

Tuggers will struggle to field same side as three or four will have to go back to the ressies again, thought there was a rule about playing ressies week 7 having bye week 8 and dropping down.

Tips this week,
Belconnen to beat Harman

Gungahlin to beat Ainslie (by 200 points)

Well at least know one will have a home ground advantage, because it doesn't look like Ainslie will make it.:D

Only thing Woden and eastlake can bring to the comp now you would think is nuisance value,Woden can start this week with the battle of undermanned sides Vs ANU.If they can get over the depleted ANU they could almost seal their fete if not make it all that much harder, jets will stay in the hunt with victory over Ainslie,Juggers V ADFA could be a close one although watched the ADFA V Woden game last week and ADFA were not that impressive,Harman could drop out of the four on percentage if they lose and as expected Jets get over Ainslie in a big way.Don't think we will be any closer to knowing for a couple of weeks with the most important game of the week as far as top four goes being ANU Woden.

Just because things have been a bit quiet on this thread, I thought I'd chuck in my 2 cents worth as far as tips for this weekend goes.

In Div 3:
Gungahlin to further humiliate Ainslie.
Belconnen in a close one against Harman. (My match of the round for Div 3).
Eastlake by at least 10 goals against Tuggeranong.
ADFA to overrun Murrumbidgee in the second half to win (just).
A depleted ANU to put in a blinder and smash Woden.

Div 4:
ANU to fall over the line against Cootamundra.
Eastlake in a low-scoring, scrappy affair against Cooma (look out Eastlake if the Asanovski brothers hit their straps!).
Yass by 65 points against Gungahlin (more if Yass put their full-strength team on the park).
Goulburn to win comfortably against Belconnen.
Murrumbidgee by single-figures against ADFA. (Match of the round for Div 4).

In CD1's which team has surprised you most in 2008?

I'll nominate two

Eastlake are always given no credit, yet have drawn with Belconnen, and beaten Murrumbidgee and Woden and should have beaten Gungahlin.

Gungahlin have been disappointing, but after losing half a team after back to back Premierships, it was almost to be expected. Ports - are your boys back near full strength this week?

Is anyone good enough to beat Belconnen for the flag?

Blues and jets thought both would be much stronger than they are.I am sure there are reasons.

DED

The Blues thought they would be stronger as well, but the combination of illness, injury, lack of commitment and probably some misplaced arrogance has hurt the sides performance...

It will be hard to pick the final 4 at this stage but my guess would be the following:

Belconnen
ADFA
Murrumbidgee
Harman

Belconnen are starting to have injury issues within premier grades which could cause changes in the District side over the coming weeks. This could make them a little weaker over the coming games so only time will tell.

Murrumbidgee or ADFA would be the only two teams that could give Belco a run for the flag at this stage. All depends if Gungahlin can push out Harman for a top 4 spot and come home with a wet sail. They could also give Belco some trouble.

Misplaced arrogance interesting.Would love to see the blues at full strength injuries come and go and you guys had a good run for a long while.

Fair dinkum Shanefos, you're kidding yourself!!! How can you say Bidgee Vs ADFA is the match of the round in Div 4!?!? Let's talk about this Yass V Jets blockbuster!! How often do you get two UNDEFEATED teams playing one another in Round 12!?!? This is gonna be an absolute cracker!!! The whole of Yass will turn up!! And Yass by 65 points?!?! Turn it up!!! No doubt they've improved but not by THAT much. The Jets beat them pretty easily last year and the Jets are as strong as last year in Div 4. I'm tipping a single figure margin.

While I'm here, must send out a huge congratulations to Matty Porter, who kicked his 400th goal for the Jets on the weekend!! Sensational performance!!

Firstly like to say congrats barge ass on your accomplishment; its hard not to kick goals when your frame takes up 80% of the goal square and the full back needs a taxi to get around you.
Well done mate... you've come a long way from your Harman Hogs days!!:D

Harsh Toodogs but fair. Yes well done Ports. 400 is a great effort over the years mate. Keep playing for a few more years to reach your 500 buddy.

Yass at home, with half of the town's population there to cheer them on?
From what I've seen of the Div. 4 Jets this season, they'd have to improve a hell of a lot to out play Yass in their current vein of form.
Even if Gungahlin play at their very best they'll still get beaten.

ADFA may be lacking a few skills, but what they lack they make up for in fitness. Conversely, the 'Bidge boys would have to a smokey for the premiership this year, but the couple of times I've seen them they've run out of puff in the second half.
So, if ADFA can string a few passages of play together early to get their confidence up, I'd predict this'd be a pretty entertaining game. Far more entertaining than seeing Gungahlin get d!cked by Yass! (although, it'd be entertaining enough just to hear that woman with that irritating voice that's always at Yass games go off when they make it however-many-wins on the trot!!!)

They may finish on top Big Hill but the great Hogs smashed Belconnen today.

Great win by the Hogs yesterday. If they could kick straight they would have won by 5-10 goals.

I have heard that Woden beat ANU today.

Also against all votes, Murrumbidgee beat ADFA by 4 goals today at ADFA.

Lever, earlier you mentioned that the Magpies would go out of the finals in straight sets, but then edited your post..... smart move. Wouldnt get too far ahead of yourself. Seems that the Hogs had a good win over Belconnen, but dont forget Harman still have to play the three teams that have beaten them already this season - 'Bidgee, ADFA and ANU (and an improving Jets side twice) - would be a bit embarrassing if the Hogs missed the finals with only one guarranteed win (over Tuggers) in the last six rounds. Before editing your post you said that Belconnen were soft. They have fought out some tough wins this season already so calling them soft seems a bit out of character for them, I guess thats why you edited your post?????

If ANU lost this weekend then they will fall two games off the pace for a spot in the finals - with some massive games to come in the last six rounds. Can never write them off though, they have earnt some respect in this comp over the past 5 years, winning a couple of flags and in one of the best GFs in a while - coming from behind to challenge the Jets in 2006. The Jets were able to hang on and claim back to back.

Hopefully all teams can get their best teams on the paddock in the next month. Would like to hope that this thread doesnt end up like other threads where everyone uses injury/unavailability as the excuse for losing. Unfortunately injuries affect every club and in amateur comps like ours unavailability is common place every week - get used to it.

Woden hung on over ANU by 2 points today in a belter of a match at Stirling.

Woden lead a q time, ANU at half, Woden 3/4 and ANU got within 2 points by the final siren. Great game to play in and watch. Big injury concerns again though - story of the year.

ANU are a shadow of their former selves though due to injury - O'Brien is still a star but limited in what he can do these days, Tuan still seagulls 30 kicks and Pooch Quinn is their best player by far...
