AFL Canberra Season 2015

Just spoke to a mate at ANU and they were told at training last night that Gungahlin requested a reschedule due to a lack of numbers...Second hand info I know but don't see why they would make that up...

I think its a combination of factors. Preseason games they wont have their NEAFL canberra demons playing, then AFL canberra rep side plays the giants ressies that weekend which some jets are in, add in they have 4 or so travellers and it's cricket season etc. From what i gather its not really an indication of the numbers for the season just a bad weekend to host a praccy match.

Hi Guys. Thanks for your concern, but as oodles mentioned there are a lot of factors that contributed to the shifting of the game. We've had over 60 players train with us during the preseason so far, so our numbers are looking ok at this stage. However we are always looking for new players, so if you are new to Canberra, or want to have a crack at playing Div 1 footy at a great club PM me and I'll give you all the details.

I went past ainslie training the other night and they were doing a time trial and it looked like tom lemon was out the front. Has tom been doing the hard yards this off season ?

Your eyes deceived you. It was actually the second group catching Lemmo on the way through. Don't worry, reality hasn't altered that far.

This couldn't be further from the truth... It was actually the third group ;)

Anyone know the finals structure for 3rds and 4ths? Top 4 ?

Thought it was top 6 (at least it was in the draft fixture), with 1 and 2 getting week off, then straight elimination from there...

ie

Week 1
1 & 2 - Bye
3v6
4v5

Week 2
1v4
2v3

Week 3
1v2

Seems better than the drawn out affair of a couple years ago, with some teams getting 2 byes in a finals series...

Annnnd just to quote myself here.

I also think I read that both the 3s and 4s finals would be hosted at the higher ranked Div 3 team's ground? Up until the GF I think.

Be interesting if Coota finish say 4th in 3s, will 2 Canberra 4th grade sides be required to play out there as well?

Any news floating around? How are clubs shaping up with trials etc. Not many clearances lodged for the regional teams. On the draw I think Molongolo got the rough end in the 3's. They only play the 2 new teams once each. Don't know much about how they are shaping up but most other Div 3 clubs would see them as winnable games

How are clubs going for numbers ? Hearing that the bay are struggling for a second side .

Bay only had one side last year didn't they? Was a bit surprised to see them with 2 nominated for this year.

Heard ANU had 70+ at a session the other week...

Bit over 50 for us for 3s/4s intraclub last night, good hit out.

Goulburn have had steady numbers, a few new players which is great and have had a couple of returning/experienced players. Rusty has put in some hard work and done a great job to try and get a list together that will be competitive this year.

I see you are coaching again SC, has the delayed start hurt your numbers?

I was curious to see how BB and the hogs went getting a 2nd team up and running after the year with only one.

Swans have a trial against Eastlake next weekend, then an intraclub the week after.

Hi Nov
Yes mate im coaching again, we have had a steady flow of numbers turning up to training. Some past players are pulling on the boots again and at this stage we have two newbies one has played before and one hasn't . Most of the young blokes from last year have returned and will better for the experience .Happy with how we are shaping up at the moment . Good to see Heath backing up wish you all the best for season mate :thumbsu:

Hey Southcab, any chance you might be keen to play a trial against Ainslie 4s on April the 2nd. I think we both have byes first round.

Reading the Coota paper it seems they may be struggling for numbers a bit this year. Looks like a few boys have moved on. Hopefully they can sort it out and give it a good shake. I'm sure sides will enjoy travelling out there. Good reason for a bus trip

I heard the Ainslie V ANU praccy matches scheduled for today got called off yesterday due to the wet weather.

Which is interesting coz there ain't a cloud in the sky today and when i drove passed Ainslie had the sprinklers on.o_O

Anyone know if they'll reschedule? Pretty poor if they dont.
