I have heard down the vine also that eastlake will loose a couple namely Kimball o/s than with fam/work to brissy and Mcmahon moving away for work.

Kimbell is a big one if thats true. There not losing much with Mcmahon leaving though he finished the year in 2s (where he should have been all year) he is pretty over rated. i think he was also very very lucky to make the rams side this season to.

Also heard Ainslie have started to pull out the big bucks again signing a few vic country players. Any truth to this??

Which McMahon, there are 2.
Xavier who you are talking about that played RAMS and Leigh.
I think Leigh would be a big loss.

Rubbish

Wow, insightful AFC, how long did it take you come up with that one? I think maybe too much baby talk for you! ;)

Is it true that Ainslie sent a letter out to all players 2 weeks after the season telling players they had to take a pay cut as they were over budget and the Social club was cutting their funding??? Apparently a few players not happy at all!!!

Word from out West is that Belconnen have lost or ar on the verge of losing at least half a dozen foreigners. Very good quality ones as well. They'll need to be recruiting well to keep pace I reckon.

Hey spoiler - care to name names?
Am interested who you are getting your info from.......

You are totally correct AFC1, that is rubbish and a slur on the Ainslie Football Club;)

They have ALWAYS pulled out the big bucks!!:p Not started to:confused:

It's Canberra mate, everyone talks. Knowles is pretty common knowledge though.

He hasn't confirmed one way or another. Not sure where you're getting your feed from on the other players. Most players are already locked in for 09. People might say they only play for the money but this year hurt a lot of the 'foreigners' at Belconnen and they want to stick around this year to get some redemption.

Maybe next year they wont expect it to be a free feed!!

You still have to earn your stripes in this league!!;)

I was down in melb a couple of weeks ago, and know for a fact that they (Ainslie) have approached three Box Hill players. They have also spoken to players at two O&M clubs about players one of them being an ex- richmond player. Although they over spent their budget last year, they are still going to find imports to bolster their stocks, and will find the money. Despite the protestations that they are promoting juniors and the club is all about bringing on the juniors they cannot field as many local players as any other team- which is a joke.

Is it true that Powell will be a fly in fly out player next year? you would think qbyn would be smarter than that, because that DOESNT WORK, no matter who the player or the club is.

Does make it a hard task. But cant recall many it hasnt worked with. Who are you referring too itktm ? Most country football clubs in Victoria have blokes travelling every week from Melbourne and have been hugely successful ! Have to agree with ABH. He was outstanding when flying in from Melbourne each week due to famliy reasons.

Or they PAY.
As stated in earlier posts, AFL Canberra and the clubs themselves send articles and results to the Times but they don't get printed.
Now the league and clubs can NOT be blamed for what is and isn't in the paper, if the editor or whoever makes the decision on whats in, loves one code over another, then it doesn't matter who is sending in the articles and how much of a relationship is tried to be built.

This wasn't always the case.

The old ACTAFL got very good coverage back a decade and a half to two decades ago.

Christ, I still have the huge back page spread, Tuggers got when they won the flag back in '86.

I am showing my age here, but the ACTAFL actually had very good media coverage back in the 80's for instance.

Where are you Peter Commisky?

Yep, put that rumor to bed. It was confirmed by the man himself at last night presentation that the 2008 Best and Fairest will travell from Sydney each week to play.
Armstrong appointed for a 9th season.
Rowan Johnstone named as the League new CEO.
Rowan has worked for Kangaroos, Coke, Dairy Farmers and runs his owns business. Good Luck to him.

i guess its confirmed then powell to fly in. good luck to the 23rd player who busts his balls for the club does all of the preseason and extras and gets dropped for a bloke who does less work and is choosing only to stay for the $40k he is ripping from the football club. it could be great club man like sibley, whatman, or longmore that will miss out and deserve better from THEIR football club

well done also to mark armstrong also. he has been a revelation at the tigers for the last 9 years and they would be crazy to look for someone who might be able to take them to premiership success. we hope he can led them admirably again for another successful year like 08.

is that the year you won your Jezza? please tell us the story!

the question was "is powell going to be a fly in fly out"?

Great to see you have NO idea on all fronts wonky.
Please continue to make these and other enlightened statements.

Im not necessarily talking about whether the player in question is successful, I am more referring the effect such a deal has on the rest of the club. Not suggesting things would be as bad as wot wonky says, but he does raise a good point re player 23 and 24.......
