Round 12, Hawks v Ainslie, is available for your personal viewing pleasure.

www.flickr.com/photos/red3photography :thumbsu:

This weekend (Round 13) I'll be at Manuka on Saturday and Ainslie on Sunday.

My end-of-round-18 prediction:

Belconnen 64
Swans 48
Eastlake 32
Queanbeyan 28
Ainslie 28
Tuggeranong 20

I think the battle is for fourth spot (but what would I know, I'm just the bloke with the camera :))

Cheers

Right so you have Queanbeyan winning another 3 games..... can you please inform the members on this thread who exactly Queanbeyan will be beating? Also your tigers quote of "eat em alive" should only be used when refering to the female patrons you take home from walsh's hotel. :D:thumbsu:

I also agree with codola, i move to start a thread with only premiership contenders allowed. Welcome: Belconnen, Sydney, Eastlake, Ainslie and tuggers, have i missed anyone?:p also i believe armstrong should take full responsibilty for his team not featuring on this list. It is easy to stand at full forward and yell out directions, take a page out of clarkies book and throw your self in the mix.

Predictions,
Belconnen in a close one over the swans
Eastlake to beat tuggers by 2 goals
Ainslie in a percentage boosting game against the bye (Struggle Town)
ABH and Toodogs will be eating someone alive after they read this post.

Good to see the Queanbeyan players are continuing the struggle town interbreeding program......... One of their up and coming thugs got six weeks for decking a bloke in the under 18s. Cant wait to hear that it was in self defence or some lame excuse like that! Do Queanbeyan have a deal with the NSW parole board allowing their players out for a few hours on a weekend to play footy????

My Tigers quote? I'm a Hawk mate! ;)

i agree with beans in regard to armstrong playing a different role. from what i can gather most of the quenbeyan structure has been the same for the whole year (the games i've seen and heard). wouldn't it be worth while trhowing a few blokes in different positions to see if they are able, also to throw the opposition a bit, i'm sure with the talent they have there will be a suprise or two. Didn't armstrong used to play in the middle?

So the word around the traps is that a certain ex tuggers player now wafl great (aka, the beast from the east) is rumoured to have signed with ainslie for a 6 figure sum!!! Apparently he is the sole reason for perth demons turnaround this season.

More info required like a name and when will he be turning out for Ainslie ?Are you sure on a minimum $100,000 per year based on your 6 figure sum or is that over a number of years !.

Ignore that comment FIM - was a mate playing silly buggers!

No six-figure sums being offered anywhere near the said player - Ainslie would get much better value for money chasing Ned Sibly!

Not sure a miss understanding of a quote on a thread is having a go but hey you believe what you need to if it gets you through.

The only final the Hawks will see is the final round of the home and away season.:D
I guess you can know add the word "Tigers" to your prediction above:)

Impressive win by Belconnen yesterday, ran hard all day and really should have won by more.

Does anyone know why the 4th quarter only ran approx 25 min when there were 8 goals kicked? Is there a set time by which the match must be completed?

I think the last term has to finish at a certain time to allow for ground repair and for the 2 senior sides to have sufficient time to use the surface to warm up on.

Im not a fan as it prevents teams in our comp playing in front of larger crowds and seeing what its like with a bit of atmosphere.

Tigers season is out of their hands now but the boys put in a solid performance without luck yesterday. Ainslie at Ainslie is never easy but with a minute or two to go we had them but let it slip away.

Can someone tell me who crossed the path of the black cat or walked under a ladder out that way. They finally get a few players back for selection but lose Wescombe and Walmsley during the week then they lose Daniher, Williams and Irwin during the game.

Maybe you shouldn't rush players back, from what I hear a few of the Tigers were a bit underdone, maybe thats why they were run over in the last 5 minutes?

Desperate people do desperate things.

Maybe need a big mirror over the border?

I was at the game yesterday and it was a corker. Tigers owned the 1st quarter and Ainslie the 2nd & 3rd except for short bursts where the Tigers kept in touch. Tigers went in at 3 quarter time with a 7 point lead. Final quarter was close, Tiger were up by two goals straight about half way through, then Ainslie kicked a point to make it 11 points then kicked the next three goals to win by 7. Ghobrial went forward and kicked two goals the second one was the best kick he's probably ever done (LOL) it was on the boundary, grandstand side at the city end from about 40-45m out.

Merv was great again, if Tigers didn't have him they would be getting carved up by even more every week, I think he ended up with 7. He also got some fitness work in the 3rd quarter when the Ainslie fullback (number 14 Ghobrial??) ran him 150 metres all the way to the Ainslie goalsquare 2 or 3 times.

Daniel Jacques played well in the last quarter after a razz up at 3 quarter time. I think he has good tapwork in the ruck but doesn't do enough around the ground in possession and marks. Probably would be better sitting in the goalsquare getting the ball bombed on his head like that tall bastard from Ainslie (number 39) bourke??.

Ainslie looked fitter and faster and had more consistent contributors over the whole day. Tigers probably had a few who only played well in patches and the forward line played behind for a lot of the day. Tigers would be pissed that they fell at the final hurdle and probably need to either move players to different positions so they can get there hands on the ball or try some new players from the reserves (will probably have to after finishing the game with 1 on the bench).

and who would your team be brainiac?
Shame that this blog has gone so quite lately no ABH to stir the pot and the others just want to slag off at each other.Well the weekend threw up some great footy with Belco getting over the Swans in Sydney, talking point in itself Ainslie in a cracker over Qbn won in the last five and QBN were great after the three injuries to key players they kept coming(and no I'm not a QBN supporter) but they tried hard all day and almost stole it.Armstrong would have a sore back he carried them almost to victory on his own back D Jacques also outstanding in the last Quarter.Ainslie look to be getting their act together.Tuggies and Eastlake didn't see it but either team could have won and tuggies have been in good form and will be looking to back it up again this week against Ainslie.Swans will be looking to take revenge on Eastlake after their first loss in Syd in 3 years and Belco would appear to strong for a struggling Qbn after all their injury worries.any thoughts.

Good stuff DED.Your views and those of Gumby7 cover the games I saw really well. A lot better than the other dribble on here.
What we have is a great comp. with close games and upsets.. ideal.

People in Sydney continue to talk up the quality of the comp. now which they didn't too much before. Sure the Swans have been restricted a bit but they are finding out more about their players under the pressure that exists now.

ABH can you shed some light on why Paul Williams was fully dressed and showered seen leaving the ground 5 mins prior to the end of play at the weekend, with no visible signs of injury or ailment. Only to return (obviously because he realised he was doing something that he would regret) and was seen skullking around the back of the grand stand back towards the Queanbeyan rooms, only then to be walking out the door 30 seconds after the final siren. Would he/ should he have been at the players address after the loss? Apparently he was “injured” but sources close to me at the Jerrabomberra tavern tell me there is a spat between he and other player/coach/ off field assistant? I know that you try to stay out of the inner workings (personalities) of the club however as “forwards coach” you would also know that he is disgruntled. Now before you don’t answer properly or give some BS answer remember that you are the champion of free and honest “feedback” and a necessity for honestly appraising the team so if you could let the thread know would be nice. See ABH, Codola is not some college punk but a Jerra boy through and through.

Cadola whilst I can't give feedback on the supposed spat within the club Williams had a headclash and came off second best he was being taken from the ground at three quarter time very groggy and being helped by two trainers he looked in a bad way.Maybe they were going to send him for observation and he left thinking he could drive himself and later realised he could not, just a thought.
