Shane Edwards is the most underrated player in the league, a genuine inside outside midfielder that gets clearances and contested possessions and kicks goals and sets up goals.

I thought it would be interesting to compare him with the media's darling Cyril Rioli

Edwards got as many touches as Cyril usually does and he gets hammered.

Didn't have a great game, but, if he was paid the free kick in the last he would have kicked 2 goals and maybe turned the game around for the tigers.

Looked injured yesterday, hopefully is fit and firing for next year.

I don't care who thinks who is the better player, the fact is Rioli is the perfect fit for Hawthorn. It's similar to the years of crap I've had to read about who is the better player, Judd or Hodge. It doesn't matter because Hodge was at the time, has been over the years, and still is the very best fit for the requirements of the Hawthorn Football Club. I wouldn't trade either of those players for anyone in the competition. Maybe you need to be a Hawthorn supporter to understand this.

I am talking about THIS year and the FUTURE, not HISTORY.

THIS year Shane Edwards has way way outperformed Cyril, this has to be accepted as a FACT.

The future also looks better for Edwards when compared to Cyril, because Edwards form line is still trending upwards, Cyril's is not.

On that basis, THIS year and the FUTURE, I would choose Edwards over Cyril.

That's not that hard to understand surely?
