Phillipou - goal scoring mid, bontempelli like (also similar in height).

Great overhead mark and can kick goals from 50-60metres out.

Why is he not in top 5 discussions/phantom drafts? Seems like he would have one of the higher ceilings from this years draft class.

He is the type of player we should be drafting. He is worth the risk with our early pick.

Something to be said for his tools and size, esp given how young he is.
Does give off those bont vibes from that year.

Not that there were concerns so much as it was noted he wasn’t as strong a runner as Bont was. That said I think since then he put in a pretty good 2km time trial…

Probably because his level has been a bit up and down and has had some minor injuries. A few in the top 5 have just performed week in and week out.
In saying that I have always been a fan . He would be a good fit for us.

I really need to watch some highlights. He and wardlaw ive seen nothing of.

If you had the choice when the time came of wardlaw/tsatas at our pick or trading back in Eth's scenario to secure both phillipou and george plus an additional 1st next year, does the latter make too much sense not to do?

I really doubt Phillipou lasts to the Saints pick.

I'd assume if they took the pick its for tsatas.
GCS are a hard one to predict. Busslinger, phillipou, humphrey or mckenzie
But id have the hawks on mckenzie/humphrey, cats on clark and west coast taking ginbey.

Worst case its mckenzie or humphrey sliding back.
Guess the question is: is it better to slide back from the top 5 kids and go aggressive at more mid round talent.

Considering the tall and medium defenders we have already I hope we go all in on bull mids and small forwards. We can then sell the farm with 2023 and 2024 draft picks plus Bryan to get a match-winning KPF to slowly take over as Weiderman and 2MP fade out.

Pick 4 highest rated inside mid
pick 22 highest-rated mid left
rest of the picks -> 2xDavey + Munkara
New contract for Tippa.

I think we could bounce back if we have a manageable injury list and be a fringe finalist next year building towards something good from 2024, especially if we get a genuine KPF, Cox and Reid come on as KPDs and 2MP plays the last 4 years of his career as Forward-Ruck.

Keep cycling through players like Phillips as ruck depth when Bryan is traded out because he deserves to be num 1 ruck for a club.

Worth watching! Wardlaw also looks impressive, although I think he is Norf bound

This year I reckon you get pretty amazing value around that 8-10 range. To be able to select from: McKenzie, Humphrey, Phillipou or Hollands is pretty luxurious.

2mp has a bit ahead of him. So wouldnt necessarily be planning for life without him.
We do need to sort his partner at chf out as i have my doubts on weideman being a long term solution. But if Scott and crew can get that out of him our talls may be set.
Smalls, x-factor (groan) and competitiveness around the ball (incl. defensive effort) should be our focus

Didnt think it would happen, but im sold on the slide back trade
4->9 and saints 1st
F2 & 22 into best pick ahead of davey.
Phillipou/mckenzie/clark + george

With saints 1st, potential parish FA comp and our pick active in '23, it would mark 3 years of 3x 1st rd picks in a row.

If bryan is a trade target, we need to get him exposure to drive that price up.
He's shown a but as a defender.
Chb/2nd ruck?

My guess is if Weiderman couldn't get it together with the Melbourne midfield dominance, he's not going to click with a bottom 4 midfield. I also don't have that much faith in Jones long-term (DO NOT TELL MY NIECES I SAID THAT). However, Jones and Weiderman can do a job for the next year or two and 2MP will be at least beginning to fade in 4 years time. So a gun KPF who starts in 2024 and begins to take over 2MP in 2026 is a perfect fit for our list. Especially seeing 2MP can ruck for 5 min in the middle of a quarter to let Draper run out the game.

What history has shown over and over again is that it is infinitely easier to play in defence (easier to destroy than create). Lots of potential forwards who haven't made it end up being serviceable, or better, defenders. So I have supreme faith that Reid and Cox will at the very least become good defenders if their bodies don't break down.

Latter two may just be our FF and CHF

Re-did this to include Durham's upgrade, Menzie re-signing, and the potential for Walla staying.

If Martin stays as a rookie, then the rookie list is full, and Jayden Davey has to go on the primary list even if no one bids on him (we need to draft him with our last pick). If Martin is upgraded to the senior list then we don't lose any picks (because 37 can be senior or rookie so there are the same number of open spots). It would mean we can match a bid on Jayden if it comes in the national draft, or pick him up as a rookie if he slides. Either way Davey would take the 37th spot on the list.

If Eyre and Walla both stay on the senior list (and they can't be re-rookied if there's no spots), then we have four picks in the draft. That's Pick 4, Davey x2 and Munkara, or it's Pick 4, Pick 22 (or whatever we trade it for), and Davey x2. There isn't room on the list for both Munkara and whoever we would draft with a pick before Alwyn Jr.

I also don't see us having any spots left for the SSP or MSD unless there's an LTI.

Is it possible Jayden comes in on the LTI injury list, which allows Walla and Menzie places?
Was just wondering that too, like what we did with Lachlan Johnson.
Would think it's certainly in motion.

*edit : oh yeah, pleased to see Jye get an extra year!

Yeah Johnson was who I was thinking of as well. That thinking fits with Jye getting one year. At the end of 23 we know if we're keeping him or not and whether we keep both with movement elsewhere from the list.
