I reckon George Stevens is going to do a Bailey Humphrey and shoot up to the pointy end.

Tackle, mark and scoreboard impact all up in the last 4 TAC rounds and the Rebels will play finals
He hasn’t got baileys athleticism mate.
He is Dylan Clarke with a stronger kick, better stoppage skills and more aggressive nature.

Dylan Clarke would have been a passable AFL player if all he had was a better kick, so add better stoppage skills and an aggressive nature and he sounds quite appealing.

I’d love for Essendon to trade for a 2nd pick in the mid first and get Hardeman. Bulldogs seem decent potential trade partners given their FS situation

Running HB check
Decent size (188) Check
Decent kick check
Left footer Check.
Club captain type check

1st one of Sanders/Duursma/Wilson + Hardeman would be a pretty good haul. Have your Heppell + Stringer replacements lined up.

This time last year Humphrey was a 30s or 40s prospect and Harry Lemmey and Tom Scully were in the top 5.

Come draft day it was the other way around.
Not this time of year. Maybe 2 months earlier.

Like him for us too. Definitely need half back kickers, preferably ones that arent 175cm too...

Twomey's top 30 from July 27th 2022 didn't have Humphrey in it and the Bigfooty trial phantom draft from May had Humphrey at pick 43

Thats bizarre, by this stage Himphrey already had multiple games of 25 plus with multiple goals and Lemmey was playing in the backline such was his form

There is generally a bit of a lag in rankings in the weeks after the Champ’s. The AFL clubs would have had him as a major watch for sure.

Humphrey had one massive game, which I think was his first game back from long term injury, where he got a heap of the footy and kicked something like 4 goals 6 from memory. I think was the first or second round of the NAB league after the champs, so it would have been around this time of year.

Nobody is going to completely upturn their draft board after one game though. So while it made everyone sit up and take notice, it wasn't until he'd strung together a couple more games and proved it wasn't a fluke that people started to give him consideration as a top 10 pick.

Any chance the AFL change the NGA access to after the top 20 again? I mean the Suns are about to grab 3 in the 1st 15 picks, surely post top 20 league wide is fair and reasonable.
Was talking about this with a mate a couple of hours ago. What’s the point of the academy if you can’t take the players you develop

Nope nga is/ was a joke. Was created to get kids from different backgrounds who were familiar with afl onto afl lists. It turned into clubs getting free access to kids who were always good enough to get through to the afl on their own Merit. The northern academies hold an important place at the moment, with the hope in 20 or so years they’ll be able to create a state talent pathway with the ever increasing participation rates.
