Roos was amazing - saw him dominate for Fitzroy at the WACA one night when WCE were virtually a state of origin team. Under severe heat most of the night, didn't fumble, good decision maker and just kept clunking them and repelling attacks.

Not sure how SOS would have been viewed had the umps actually applied the rules properly. No doubt a very good player and even put up some exceptional match winning performances up forward but got away with ridiculous stuff he shouldn't have.

I think the incredible natural power unique to Dunstall, Lockett and Ablett they could still play FF. Like when Dangerfield would get thrown full forward forward it was a nightmare matchup. Too quick for KPPs and too strong for flankers to deal with. The increased congestion would be harder for them but would still be guns there.
If Roos played for a big club in the 80s he’d be far more revered. An out-and-out superstar of the game. I always rate players who redefine the way a position is played. As an attacking, tall, HB with run and carry and pinpoint delivery he was revolutionary at the Swans. It’s even more remarkable when you consider that he was a true key position player for over half of his career (back and forward as required) before that.

How likely do you think we are going to draft in Pruess?
I cant really answer that without knowing Preuss's full medical and the clubs direction to a timeslot of challenge

All i know is he plays and trains with physical presence which we dont have. Hes in prime age for a ruck, he has proven to be at the level, we have 3 rucks all OOC in 12 months time. I wouldnt want to be in a position where i need to drastically over pay to try and entice a ruck our way and also whether its the right one or not is a whole other question before we even consider they want to come

Alot depends on behind the scene chats and likelihood of a ruck coming here in 12 months and also the likelihood of Draper wanting out in 12 months, the club would have some sense

There is a world where Draper is leaving and Bryan hasnt commited yet and is waiting to see what the club is doing unless we fork out big coin for him

A mature ruck gives us extra flexability and options and doesnt potentially put us down a one way road

I certainly wouldnt be surprised if we recruited a mature ruck

Even if we lose 2 rucks, we need to add 2 rucks... not just 1 (Preuss would likely become the free R3 on our list/or has got his body right and offering more)

Dear God, we are not going to have 4 rucks (6 if you want to count Wright and Cox) on our list this year for something that is a slight chance of happening in the future. You of all people should get this. If we fill up our list spot with Preuss we won't have room for all the other shit cans that you've suggested.

2MP and cox are not rucks

What other shit cans? We literally need 3 shit cans if were taking 4 in the ND

And 4 if you consider rookies

Next year we dont care about, its about planning for after that

If we pick up Preuss I'll run down Burke St naked...

Well if we draft him I owe you a beer even though we didn’t bet on it.

Wright is ruck cover, also Cox has played there. That is what being a backup would mean.

Others? You have listed about 20 players we should be looking at. I think every time another club has dropped a list of delistings you have been on here suggesting we have a look at a player from that group. Are you suggesting you haven't been doing this?

It isn't future planning. We are in a rebuild stage. Rebuilding means using extra spots to try and find new young players to build a team for the future. Not waste a list spot on Preuss to fill in a journeyman backup ruck position for 2026, that might not even be needed.

IF we draft Preuss I'll also run naked down Burke street too, but I'm drinking that beer that Happyskeret promised you first.

I can't believe anyone is actually suggesting that we get a fourth AFL ready ruck on the list. The only other clubs that has three are Fremantle and Geelong. And even then, Jackson is more than capable as a forward and Blicavs can play anywhere.

Not only get the fourth ruck Eth.

Give him two years.

Prior warning required before streaking down Burke St so I can close my eyes. 🤮

Hopefully it's not too cold outside after draft day.

On the plus side I have been assured by Call Me Cake that I wouldn't get into too much trouble if the local police catch up to me.

Most of the guys i mentioned have been picked up in the trade period

The reality is were going to be picking up atleast 1 delisting, its hard to not see that being the case, although im all gor throwing several late darts in an apparent deep draft to the experts

A backup ruck is someone that can hold down the fort for 8-12 weeks straight if need be. Cox cant do that

A 3rd ruck would be needed in 2026

We've got 9 guys around or over 200cm. 3 are actually ruckmen, Wright is a FWD / RUC. And there's the MSD if they're dropping like flies during the season. It's been like a week now of you trying to make Pruess a thing.

I could give you 3 or 4 rucks in the VFL that we can rookie at the end of next year if we lose two of Goldy, Draper and Bryan. That's without seeing any potential newbies in there.

We have three capable AFL level rucks on the list. The only other clubs that do are Freo and Geelong.

And youd be ok having

Bryan
VFL ruck ?

Id say most clubs have 3 rucks

ROB
Strachan
Thilthorpe

Omac
Fort
H.Smith
K .Lane

Pittonet
TDK
Mirkov

DCam
Cox
Steene

Darcy
Jackson
Reidy
Knobel

Preuss
Briggs
Madden

Xerri
Teakle
Free
Goad

Nank
Naismith
3 others 206cm+

Marshall
Campbell
Max Heath

Grundy
Ladhams
Macandrew
Will Green

Look if were confident both Bryan and Draper are staying then we have no issue

Id rather throw a late dart and have 5 or 6 ND picks, it just didnt seem we were going down that path

Unpopular opinion but the very real possibility of losing at least two is very real. If Vigo is more a fwd than he is a ruck then that adds more questions to the ruck order.

Why wouldn't we feasibly add to the depth, it's not like they will come in and play from round 1, 2025 anyway. Would be 2 years away and by that stage Goldstein is gone, we should be rubber stamped with/without Bryan and who knows if Drapers head is turned if you put enough 0000's behind a number.

Can argue all you like about how many rucks a club has, each one is unique, even ours. How many have 3 capable, AFL ready number 1 rucks on the list?
