Early, but I hope so! Has looked promising.
Well he is from the first draft the new team did and now you add Rosa. The old is gone. Now we get to see if the new guys are any good.

The price isn't important, the player is. Hawks over payed to grab Weddle, the Cats did for Holmes, doubt they care now.

Do you trust our team to get it right and draft a gun?

Ball users or runners, what’s your preference ?
Both. We need to look at this over a three / four year period. There is no one year answer to the question. We started last year by targeting our CHF. We will get our top end small forward this year along with something else. We just have to draft the best competitors that hopefully have a decent combination of skill and endurance or target one of each. We can not fall into the Dodoro trap of not building specific strengths over a few drafts.

Archie Roberts is a good example of the kind of player we can find later in the draft still and that we're screaming out for more of. He can play an outside role on a wing or flank since he's got a good tank and disposal, and take some pressure off Merrett being the only guy capable of kicking the ball good.

This.

The Wishlist this draft is likely Kako + 3 guys about 192cm. One who plays HHF/3rd tall/wing, one that plays HB/3rd tall and another that’s a balanced inside/outside mid
Not saying we have anything near elite spanning those roles but we do seem to have a few folk that fit these positions:

Genuine quality wingers : Martin + Dursma

HHF/3rd tall (back or forward) : Jones + Cox

Others to throw into the conversation around creating breadth out wide and moving forward or back: Roberts (getting up the ground), El-Hawli (forward or back), Perkins (looking for a role that isn’t a mid) & Durham (when not going through the centre)

Have omitted Setters & Tsatas as wing options as I know that is triggering for some people…

If everybody is healthy our team looks to have much better balance now and some interesting upside.

Id say you can add Ridley and Langford to that group as well.

Although personally I’d take out cox as I think he’s not that good of a wing but a decent swing tall. Rather just have him build his body up as a KPD.

The point of the HHF is as a potential Langford/jones injury replacement and pressure on Perkins

The point of the HBF is as a Ridley replacement to develop in the VFL and another good user off HB

Plus you can never have too many midsized balanced midfielders just useful Swiss Army knife players

What specific strengths did we not build?
Midfielders with good disposal (or a team with decent foot skills really), leadership, outside speed, good runners, mental and physical toughness.

Somewhat ironically for a club that was often accused of solely drafting flankers, we actually do need flankers!
For a list manager who apparently prioritised key position players, we always seemed to struggle to have good, top end ones bar a very small handful (Hooker was developed, Daniher handed to us on a platter, Hurley was a top 5 back to back U18 AA)

Can we please keep Melb’s F1?

I don’t want to give away a top 6 pick to grab someone at 17

Nothing's surer than if we trade this pick away it'll end up being top 4.
