Our potential draft hand is the most exciting thing about this year.
Dyson Sharp looks to be the best mid in this year's draft. Any early signs of a dominant KPF to partner with Caddy?

Some priorities:

A dominant mid-forward
A good-kicking mid in the mould of Merrett
A dominant KPF
A good skilled HB.
Why specify dominant players? It's not like Rosa is going to rush out looking for meek, submissive ones

I would absolutely LOVE it if we somehow managed to bottom out, grab the spoon, lose draper and end up with 3 of Dyson Sharp, Willem Duursma, Riley Onley, Archie Ludowkye, Oliver Greaves, Fred Rodriguez &/or Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves.

Seems a midfield heavy draft and one that boasts a fair bit of size in that group I listed.

Correction:

I'd love it if Melbourne won the spoon and we finish 17th

Any good ball users in that group?

id like to think these guys being spoken about are good kicks, not passable in a Tsatas way but a good kick in a Petracca way

We have a great opportunity with Draper and free agency. If we tank and get a top 4 pick, and get a first rnd compensation for Draper, that’s massive. If we can get something similar from Melbourne’s pick, that could redefine the club and be the rebuild it’s desperately needed for 20 yrs. Should have done the same thing with McGrath and redman and parish, but we are where we are.

Bryan will be fine as a replacement. Draper is a little better sometimes, but not much better imo

Honestly, we must tank 2025 + 2026 to avoid these concessions, it will dramatically affect available talent. We won’t though…
Honestly believe that the list turnover has been happening over the last few years to avoid the Tassie situation.

Like I said in a previous thread, we are looking at 30 players that were on our list 3 years ago, gone by this season end. We have stocked up for this years draft to get maybe two top 10 picks and four top 30 picks. Or, to have a play at H.Reid.

Add that to maybe two more top 30 picks in 2026, plus Bewick in the Tassie draft and the list turnover is complete. Then the club will be chasing established talent to top up for a finals run.

The situation is not all doom and gloom. 100%, the upcoming draft is the most important in the clubs history. Either we trade in for Reid who will be a star, or we have to nail the four picks in the Top 30.

But, the rebuild doesn’t start now, it’s been happening in the background since 2022.

We should try to facilitate some kind of trade involving Parish or McGrath for Zak Butters. A midfield of Merrett, Caldwell, Durham and Butters should be more defensively solid and show the way for Tsatas, Martin and Perkins. Butters should automatically supercede McGrath in the leadership group.

Sam Cumming could hardly have been more impressive through the first two rounds of the SANFL U18 season. He's too powerful and evasive for this level, impossible to stop as he consistently navigates from inside the contest to the outside to release his teammates or create space to deliver a high quality ball. In this game he had his hand in a number of score involvements, including kicking a couple of crucial goals of his own as his Roosters side powered ahead in the second half to record a comfortable win.

eDPS how is this draft crop shaping up? Got many defensively minded players with leg speed and elite disposal who can take a contested grab?
Ahhhhh let me get back to you on that

Would give our highest 1st rounder, lowest 2nd rounder and whatever we get for Draper and Hobbs for Reid but nothing more
