So after tinkering around with my team a bit more, I'm starting to feel as though it could be the team I end up with, although I do have one problem and I think it may come back to haunt me;

I don't have a Cornes.

Is anyone else Cornes-less, or am I the only one?

Nah you dont want either of them
You genuinely don't think Thommo is a good get?
That forward position is just killing me. Thommo seems like the only certainty to get a game each week and therefore rise in price. Jetta and Vince are others in the range but they aren't certainly in the 22 week in week out.
It's a real tough one.

Have quite deliberately avoided that price range for that exact reason. Got nothing between Didak and L. Hansen, simply because the cheaper players are all of questionable worth. i guess that's why a lot have gone with Tredrea.

There was a valid post a while ago about older players coming back from a knee reco, Darcy found it hard but thommo has at least had just about a full pre-season

I dont have him

Benno_900 stated earlier in this thread that he thought Thommo would average something like 40 in the first few games and then not improve it by much at all as the season goes on - Completely agree with him. I honestly cant see him averaging more then 60, he's just not a DT player

You're better off starting a rookie like Rioli/Hansen who are 90K cheaper and will average about the same

Nice point Virgil. If you don't like players in a certain price range simply restructure your team to steer clear of it.

Already got Rioli on the field :D

Hmmm, what to do, what to do ;)
Hopefully I can avoid a restructure.

Some selection news from Fox Sports ...

- Apart from Butler/Brown, West Coast are full strength. Guys like Masten and Ebert will find it tough to get a gig in round 1 and according to Sumich it depends on how the lions will line up (whether to drop a tall and go for more run with Masten).
- Kerr will play round 1 if he gets through training OK.
- Troy Chaplin in doubt, if he doesn't play, Paul Stewart is expected to debut.
- Rhys Palmer will definitely debut this season according to Pavlich and is in the mix for round 1 selection.

where do you have to place to give urself a genuine chance at the overall comp in round 1. Top 1000, top 500 or even top 100
I remember reading about a week ago, someone posted that last year's winner was well back after round 1 (about 4-5000th), it really shouldn't matter too much, just worry about getting your team right for the long haul.

I could have told you that one

I would much prefer to pay the extra 90k for Thommo as he is guarenteed to play every week whereas Rioli and Hansen may not and even if Thommo averages 60 odd early on his price will still rise and therfore you can upgrade him later on.He did avearage around 72 prior to doing his knee so if he can get anywhere near that it would be well justified picking him up

Thing is, i dont think he'll average anywhere near 70

With the spare 90K you get from starting a rookie, you could upgrade a "there-abouts" player to a Gun

He averged 72 PRIOR to doing his knee. Plus, he is over 30 IIRC.

Risky selection but if you believe its a risk worth taking then do it :thumbsu:

Its a lot less risky than picking a rookie who may not get a run at all.Ive already got a couple of rookies in my forward line which is more than enough

I could have told you that one

Oh, wow, you are awesome.

Just a recap of their selection news, no need to be a smartarse about it.

And it kind of implied that he is not guaranteed to play round 1, contrary to what the majority is saying on here. But, I personally also expect him to start round 1.

Then I think you should downgrade some of your players in other positions and upgrade at least one of your rookie forwards and the spot you are intending to pick Thommo in. Three cheap players in the one position is way too much of a risk.
