Good post^
do people regard simmonds as a keeper if he can average 80 for the rest of the year?
This may be a good trade if you jumped on wood instead of simmonds
N Thompson>Hill
Wood<Simmonds

Means nothing. Anyone who has a clue about dream team knows that

My round 1 and 2 scores last year were around 1750 and 1800. Ended up finishing 67th with about 8-9 consecutive 2000+ to finish the season off.
This year my round 1 and 2 scores have been 1689 and 1842 (ranked 5,721). Not much difference from last year, i'm actually happy with those scores so far.

IMO, 80% of dream team is how you use your trades, and 20% is on your starting side. Use your trades right and you can go from 1500 in round 1 to 2200 in about round 12

Agree :thumbsu: Last year I started off with a 1600 (if I recall correctly) and I dont think I broke into the top 1000 until midway through the season. Ended up 25th overall. God knows what I could have done If I didnt pick up Bock and Whitnall .

If he can average 80 then he is definitely a keeper. Remember there isn't the depth in the ruck division that there is in the others, 80 will probably have him top 4-5 for the season. I'm also considering trading Wood to Simmonds, it seems like a very tempting upgrade.

Haha...seems like an eternity since big Lance has pulled on the boots.

The start to the season isn't crucial. A lot of players overperform in the early rounds, and teams at the top are full of such players. Eventually the cream rises to the top though.

Having said this, I'm in unfamiliar territory, sitting 165th. Previous years I have been around the 5-10,000 mark, but still managed to finish top 2000

Humorous stuff...you actually think you know what you are talking about dont you?

3 players from the same team in the same position IS a problem. There is a lower chance that all 3 will fire on the same day. Simple.

Kreuzer > Hampson? Are you for real? For one Hampson WILL play every game for the rest of the season (barring injury). Kreuzer when he actually gets on the park will not get near Hampson's scores...he also is not guaranteed a spot in the team for the rest of the season. If he's not up to it he'll be straight back into the VFL. I think I'd fork out the extra 7k to get Hampson (as would anyone else with a clue, ie. not you).

Tredrea? Fallen superstar.. I'd rather any of Burton, Didak, Hall and Porplyzia (may be forgetting someone).

T. Cloke a spud? My god

Whelan? :D You idiot.

J.Bartel, J.Corey, G.Ablett.
That is a pathetic midfield in the eyes of this "newb" and CC?

Why?
Oh, because there are 3 players from the same team.
Idiots.

IT IS NOT A PROBLEM AT ALL.
Get it through your thick head.

Oh, also, W.Tredrea is averaging 14.7 more points than last season and he has already played Sydney, at Sydney i might add.
Bad pick again in the eyes of these two fools... :p

T.Cloke is so far away from being a PREMIUM that it is not even funny.
An average of 63 points this year following a measley average of 81.3 last year.
WOW. Some pick he is.
Good player, but i meant "spud" in terms of Dream Team.

Mods, get this kid out of here.

I was in the same boat - pretty average start to the season, but finished with 10+ 2000's, made it into the top 300 and got a Sherrin for my troubles. :D

It was Brennan that did me...

And how do you use your trades Kangas_Div? It's an area I admit I struggle.

To be honest i dont have a plan, i trade on instinct. Most of it is pretty obvious though. There are a few simple rules that are well known

ie - Downgrade a cash cow, upgrade a mid-priced player
- Keep your eye on a few players worth 380K+ or so and if they have a bad game or 2, then jump on them. They cost a fair bit for a reason
- Dont jump on/off players just because they play 1 good game or 1 crap. Pretty simple rule in DT is that you dont trade based on 1 game.
- Never trade a premium either, during the pre-season you should have picked atleast 10 players who you will keep the whole year no matter what. Alot of people jumped off J.Bowden after some bad games last season, if you stuck with him you reaped the rewards later on and those that traded him were regretting it.

Thats how i see it

Yes, i'm upgrading Wood to Simmonds in DT before Simmonds becomes out of reach.
If I were to downgrade thompson to hill I feel that my forward line is too risky with 2 rookies on the field. I want to see how Hill will go in a losing team before making my decision.

Haha i fell into the Whitnall trap too last year, traded adcock for him

I was so young and stupid back then :D

This makes me laugh.

Nicoski
Round 1 - popularity = 23'780 selections after he scored 97pts
Round 2 - popularity = 38'530 selections after he scored 27pts :)

That's 14'750 people jumped on the wagon after round 1. Nearly 10% of all DreamTeams ahah

Kennelly
Round 1 - popularity = 19'577 selections after he scored 99pts
Round 2 - popularity = 25'939 selections after he scored 28pts

Nearly 6 and half thousand people are kicking themselves. Ahhh good for a laugh.

Wasn't gonna make that mistake after last year...

Disappointing to see Goodes get offered one match, but it was there. Don't personally think he'll challenge, unless there isn't any conclusive camera footage, but either way, I'm sure Bird or Ebert will be good enough to cover for a week.

there aren't many posters who actually know their stuff on this forum.
I can't say I know my stuff either

I personally rate Beau_Water for PM as one of my favourite posters however I believe everyone who posts here regularly is a valuable contributor and you just have to take everything with a grain of salt, but there are some good opinions on these boards and slowly the pinheads are being taken out!

yer most definelty...Ebert or Bird would be good cover

Just don't be like other fools who are suggesting to trading Goodes...

He's a premium - one week is no where near enough to even consider trading him.

It's trades like that that see a heap of those with great starts fall by the wayside, while others with relatively mediocre starts quickly bypass them.

This morning I was considering a trade of Aaron Edwards out & Josh Hill in which would then allow me to upgrade a midrange/under performing gun, but then I realised making this trade was a waste because I currently have 2 rookies as forward emergencies who are performing well enough in Rioli and Gamble. May as well wait until Rioli and Gamble start to reach their limit and then look at who might be coming in later in the year. After all despite scoring under 1900 for the second week running I still improved my overall ranking from mid 8000's to mid 2000's so why the need to make foolish trades.

To me my DT side is much the same as the teams in the AFL itself, it takes a good 3-5 weeks to settle before you can start making calls on whether the players you have chosen are any good or not.

What I find quite telling is that a couple of the guys who come in here purporting to know more than anyone else and slagging off other posters also are the ones who don't seem to post their scores...

who are you reffering to
Raw talent doesn't hesitate to post his scores, even if they are 1 of his 12 teams

Trust all the research you did at the start of the year, you picked Edwards for a reason, stick to it.

If you have Rioli and Gamble on the bench, then you have two good cash cows ready to start making you money.

I have my own spreadsheet and it is telling me based on the first two weeks, my team value should increase by $420,000 in the first week. So that is telling me that I will be able to upgrade some players in around 5 or so weeks.

I think they know who they are.

RT didn't generally come in slagging people off either. It was the other way around (and deservedly in that instance).

I just hope this private board gets off the ground so these people can piss off and have fun talking each other up (or down).

I still wouldn't be surprised if they ended up back here though..
