Found that I was still able to simulate until next appearance despite the previous screen saying I was injured and would not be allowed to come back on the ground. So in the second, third and fourth quarters I'd still start on the ground - but as my stamina was borderline empty. I would stay on the ground for the first play of the game (enough to get it down to the goals and attempt a shot) I'd be taken off due to it.

What I've noticed is that there are almost no boundary throw ins. And that's because of the simplicity of the player positioning, you really have no incentive to move the ball along the wings, but rather just through the guts.

So many videos I've watched everything is just a quick chain of handballs through the middle and then a long kick to the forward line hoping for a mark.

Decided to give the game another go since the patch. Started another coach career and simmed the first year. Won the premiership over the Bombers. Lol.

Played 1 game so far in 2018 on Challenging difficulty. Beat the Demons by 76 points.

Here's the current line-up:

FB: Lee Spurr (86)/Joel Hamling (82)/Michael Johnson (87)
HB: Tom Sheridan (82)/Alex Pearce (82)/Jaeger O'Meara (78)
C: Brad Hill (84)/David Mundy (90)/Stephen Hill (86)
HF: Michael Walters (82)/Cam McCarthy (83)/Harley Bennell (84)
FF: Isaac Heeney (80)/Josh Bruce (83)/Hayden Ballantyne (85)
R: Sean Darcy (82)/Nat Fyfe (95)/Lachie Neale (88)

I/C: Brady Grey (81)/Danyle Pearce (81)/Matt Taberner (81)/Connor Blakely (79)

Hadn't played for ages and didn't actually notice the patch had downloaded and installed cos my mate was playing before me. Then I started playing and hardly noticed anything different tbh, except for the set shot meter filling up quicker which was an awesome surprise. Seriously, anything to make set shots harder is great because it's always been far too easy in almost every AFL game.

It's still an OK game, but nothing really to write home about. Need some new camera angles for Be A Pro desperately.

Has a lot of potential though...

once you master the controls and everything that can be done on the field it's easily the best AFL game we've ever had so far and i say that as a big AFL Live 1 fan...

you can evade/sidestep a player, dribble kick the ball to a players feet instead of high to the contest, you can lob a handless over an opponent to space, you can kick a banana from any angle and it looks good, you can dribble kick a goal from a 160 degree angle and it doesn't look stupid...

you can take a good variation of marks, kicking for goal is fun and enjoyable...

the graphics and animations are pretty good overall...the most realistic so far..

there are a lot of details in the game that make it rather impressive...

Played on Hard. Actually had more marks than the opponent. Hell has frozen over, people.

Was really impressed after first game with patch but that has now changed after a few games. Almost everytime I handball under pressure it gets called a throw. Has really ruined the game for me now and it certainly wasn't this noticable pre patch. I'm playing on hard level.....

it's because you've been tackled and haven't released the ball early enough, just keep practicing until you are fast enough to release the handball..

simple stuff..

No game is instantly easy, this game is no exception..

Usually passing between players in sports games is very easy. It's only hard if you make a bad choice and pass it in the wrong direction.

Well i played 2 seasons on hard pre patch and never had this many throwing the balls. It feels like they made this harder to make the ai more of a challenge.

Has a lot of potential though...

So basically Wicked Witch are Kurt Tippett. 7 AFL games in and we're still just hoping to see this "potential" realised.

Yeah, Im hoping this 2nd patch adds some depth to player positioning options, but I know this would too big of an ask considering it would have a kick on effect on gameplay mechanics.

There are some really nice core mechanics in here, but the 18 one-on-one contests around the ground need to be improved on to take the game to the next level. The robo-tackling needs to be toned down, players need to slow down when changing directions, and we need to see flooding, and forward presses and loose men behind the ball.

Tackle plus disposal shouldn't always equal a throw they have watched afl before surely should come down to tacklers stats tackle and strength vs player with balls strength and handball stats plus stamina vs stamina

Yep it's robo tackling because tackling always brings players to the ground and barely lets them get off a disposal. We know that shouldnt be the case.

Also every player is locked on and goes at the ball carrier at full speed. We know that's not the case

Change these things up and the game gets more flow.

It would be nice if kicks came out quicker too. You can release your kick a second before you get tackled and still drop the ball (a lot of the time this doesn't get called holding the ball even though it's the most consistently called interpretation of holding the ball in a real game).

Had an interesting minor glitch in pro mode

One of my season objectives was metres gained, but then it changed to soccer goals (which are pretty hard to do btw in pro mode) randomly one game, but it still had my metres gained progress on there
So the soccer goals progress bar showed 830/15, and stayed like that until i managed to score a soccer goal then I got the objective for soccer goals
