After watching this in the last few minutes, it really does look kind of impressive, even from a neutral stand point..

GOAT. Literally had more features and less bugs. The snap kick button meant goals from impossible angles.... Ai trying to fend of and getting smashed by 3 blokes... Going the bump instead of tackle then seeing the ball carrier get the injured icon :'( i really need to plug in my PS2
I think you mean 2004

I actually played this today, just so I can compare it to Evolution when I get my copy.

Won my first game on Medium (against an AFL team, I beat China earlier haha) :D A 2 point win over Carlton :D

They outmarked me 29-6 haha but most of their marks were those annoying not-15m kicks. That definitely needs to be patched. When I marked it I was always clearly in a better position (on the lead or able to out-body them). Feels good. As per the advice in this thread I turned off kick assist and tried to kick to the advantage of my leading players. Seemed to work well.

They also need to patch the free kick issue. Stats definitely come into it though, I won the free kick count vs China, but when the teams are more evenly matched, the AI team definitely gets the rub.

Love using the right stick to evade tacklers though. When it all comes together (evade, handball chain, mark to leading forward) this is the best AFL game I've played. Better than Live 1. If Wicked Witch are able to iron out the bugs (and yes, make marking a bit clearer), they have a winner.

No regrets with this purchase. Not returning it.

How do I use my created player as my rookie be-a-pro? I made myself well, but it took like 3 hours and I'm not doing it again.

*Why am I even asking this, like I actually have some faith that I've just missed such a commonsense feature, rather than it not being included like everything else :$

Learn to make game modes at the very least.

Decided to restart Be A Pro by starting in the TAC Cup and moving up from there. Randomly chose the Western Jets. My player is a 187cm, 103kg FF.

First game, on Hard, I get 33 disposals, 24 marks, and 13 goals, 4 behinds. Looks like TAC Cup is extremely easy since your player is rated almost the highest in the comp.

Became captain after that game, now currently in my 2nd game overall. Here's my player celebrating a gimme goal.

Reckon this mode has real potential when the interchange is fixed up.

Do you think it ever will be though? How would they fix it?

Surely a patch that allows simulation of the game to a point when the play is reinstated to the game couldn't be that hard to do? Like, if they can simulate the entire game with the provision of scores for each quarter, why can't that be don't but only to a point?

I get the feeling that developing a way to sim parts of games would actually be quite a bit of work for them and I doubt something they'd bother with for a patch. If they had the ability to add that feature, they surely would have done it prior to releasing the game.

Lol, russell coight on the FB page..

"Russell Coight : The best AFL game made for consoles to date is this one. It has bugs here and there., the marking system is frustrating etc etc. BUT the core of the game is solid and enjoyable. Good stuff, considering this is done without the budget of a EA or 2k Sports budget."

Game came with a 3.5gb day one patch. Safe to say what they shipped was unfinished.

Maybe it's wishful thinking that they'll add it in, but I'd suspect there will be updates and plenty of opportunity to incorporate it in.

The camera was stuck facing the wrong way in be a pro mode, so I couldn't see where the ball was or where I needed to be going.
That was shit.

Other than that, If this game was realistic and had a draft, I'd be top pick so easily it's not funny. most disposals, most goals.

One issue I've found is that coming off CHF, I can just run straight into the centre square and be another rover before the umpire even bounces the ball. So I can just get the easy handball and run off into an open goal or send it down to FF to miss from 10m out.

Does anyone else get called to play on for advantage every time after getting a free kick and picking up the ball?? Really annoying

Happens when you press L1.

For some reason, pressing L1 toggles between looking at the ball and looking at the goal.
