How I feel when the opposition AI taps the ball along the ground 13 times in a row to find an open man in the forward pocket who kicks the goal

Happy with the matches I played tonight, didn't lose but had a few tough games. I've had to relearn the timing each time I resume playing (this morning after last night, and tonight after this morning). I would have lost if the AI didn't butcher their chances at goal (each had 4-8 more scoring chances than I did). Best match was against Richmond, they came storming home in the 4th.... and I held on to win by 2 points. Fremantle at Domain also proved a handful.

I mentioned this in the "Big Ant to make AFL Live 3 Petition" thread that GoldbergsGold bumped but I think this needs saying here as well.

Fighting to get Big Ant back by petitioning Tru Blu to dump Wicked Witch won't do anything to improve the state of AFL games. If Tru Blu wanted to keep Big Ant after AFL Live 1, They would have. (We all know why they didn't.) Even if they do decide to dump WW after AFL Evolution, It doesn't guarantee that they will just go back to BA. They could easily go to other devs like Trickstar Games (The makers of the infamous Ashes Cricket 2013), Torus Games (Who have made mostly licensed games and developed some of Tru Blu's earlier work.) or PikPok (The remanence of Rugby League and Rugby Challenge developers, Sidhe) and We'll be back to square one and stuck in the same cycle that we have been in for the last 5 years with no sight of coming out.

Really, If people want to make a change. They need to stop posting stuff along the lines of "Wicked Witch is s**t! They'll never do any good as they have no money! Save us Big Ant!!!!" 12 times a day, get off their butts & do something about it!

Start a campaign to petition the AFL to fund more into their games (That's probably the one thing we all agree on and people make points about it all the time.), Try to as a group to approach BigAntStudios about making another pitch for the AFL game rights. (I'm sure Ross really wants another crack at an AFL game.) or even put your money where your mouth is about lack of funding and start a online fundraising campaign to help fund Wicked Witches so they can improve on their base from AFL Evolution. (But I doubt people who hate the game would want to do that as some would rather wallow in the past and complain then to help out the future.)

I think everyone can agree that we want a good AFL game but at the moment, It seems like one side is trying to help get us there and the other is trying to tear us back down to square one.

I don't care if you love or hate AFL Evolution, All I ask is that that the people who hate the game actually try to do something that could help us all in the long run instead of just using your keyboards to crap on the game in an Over-the-Top fashion a dozen times a day. There are more productive ways to get the AFL game that you want but crapping on about how "Wicked Witch Suck" an absurd amount of times each day won't change anything in the long run.

It still blows my mind that people are returning this when it's only been out for three days now. And two of them were work/school days!

Granted you could finish a CoD single player campaign in that time, but I just don't get it. I managed to scrape home against Carlton on Medium and have so much to learn/master still.

Ive just seen an article posted online about the game which kind of confirms there is a hate campaign out there to ruin the game.

Was that the one posted on sporting avenue? That's just from a user here.

Anyone else finding their online games not being recorded? Played 4 but nothing is showing up in the my rank page.

Enjoying this a lot more now that I've got a good grip on the marking controls.

I've managed 4 big wins in a row with the Suns online including some nice team goals hitting up players on the lead multiple times in a row. Even shifted play across the back 50 once haha.

Anyone got any tips on tackling or marking?

With tackling, I'll be along side the opponent, pressing Y and nothing registers? Are you supposed to hold it, or tap it? I've tried both and the guy just runs straight through me (sometimes literally).

With the marking, the amount of times I've got front position and I've got a "good" but still not marking it is ridiculously frustrating. The opposition player will literally come from a mile behind and jump through me to mark it.

Any tips on either from people having success in these areas? I feel like I'm doing it right, but it's just not working out.

Does anyone else have a problem with the interchange not working at all?
I have it set on full auto and there's literally not one change in a game unless there's an injury ?

yeah it's pissing me off big time, also the way that if a player comes back from injury in career they'll be automatically placed into your lineup... maybe i don't want them there

Ok the more i play the more im starting to dislike it.

Really struggling with the whole marking/spoiling thing. NFI when to press the button, when to let go or where to stand. Sometimes ill try to mark it with someone and then my teammate who im not even controlling ends up marking it. Dont get why something as simple as taking a mark needs to be so complex.

Imo, the core gameplay for this game is by far the worst out of the 3 newer games. Shit me even the ps2 games play better than this. Clearances and stoppages are now just a button mash, youve got balls going through players, players coming at you at 100kph to tackle you, online you have players come from nowhere and ice skating across the ground to mark the ball or tackle you. Umpiring is a joke. Be a pro is dissapointing. The whole thing is ****ed. How is it possible to take so many steps back from Live 1 which was 6 years ago on last gen and it plays so much bloody better than this. Even the ps2 games have a better flow to it.

ALOT of things need to be cleaned up. The whole thing is just a buggy mess. Im really trying hard to enjoy it but am finding impossible to atm. Hopefully that can change soon

I don't want to say; but it certainly doesnt help the AFL gaming community.

Wicked Witch being disingenuous doesn't help the AFL gaming community either

Marking advice that has worked for me very, very consistently. Haven't lost an online game for atleast about 15-20 games now.

First, in the camera options change the marking to 'look at ball' I find that is much easier to follow in terms of the timing with the circles.

Second, and you have to trust this will work because visually it really shouldnt. When the ball is in the air hold triangle and always release when the bigger transparent circle constricts to become the solid white circle. If you release it at that point, even when the ball still has some ways to drop towards you, you will mark the ball 90% of the time. The 10% will only be either you being horribly out of position or your opponent has timed it just that bit better.

The above is actually the same advice in the manual actually. And it does work, try it.

That issue became a case study in why most companies choose to not engage directly with fans.

Not engaging is better than misrepresenting the final product in my view.

Can see why they did it though. "Our career mode is ripped from the iOS game" isn't a good tagline for the box.

Will still buy at full price when it's out on steam as it's the only way the lions can get a win

I've had it change when playing online.

Somehow ended up with Jack riewoldt rucking half the game

Played a game with a few mates tonight. Then we played a game of Live 1 as well. The game play in live 1 is so much more fluid. It was actually ridiculous how much better it is to play.

Evolution can still be decent and fun to play, but making the direct comparison tonight the unanimous decision was we would rather play 1. Pretty disappointed.

Had my first glitch tonight ball froze in mid air and players were running under it like headless chickens only way to fix it was to restart the game got a video if anyone wants to see it

Ok after playing for a while and dominating on standard I flicked the difficulty up and had a crack. It really makes this games flaws much more frustrating, there is no flow at all. I reckon in my last game I gave away about 20 free kicks to 1 just by manic button mashing tackling. I run down guys who take me on and get absolutely no reward, another one of their players just picks it up and goals.

The hip and shouldering is an absolute joke. Any time I have a free player going for the ball he gets pol-axed, and they just win clearances by shear weight of numbers. If I managed to get to the ball first I get tackled and the ball spills to them or I try to handball and it gets intercepted.

In the game I just played it was torrential rain and my opponent had 86 marks! They just chipped it around and I couldn't do anything. I only lost by 4 goals but they kicked 6.21.

As mentioned learning the marking has improved my expirenece with this game drastically. So many amazing and cool moments in this game too, here is a few.

The run McGrath provides at the start of this clip is immense! The way he steps around the two fallen players and burns off his opponent is brilliant, it would usually be a tackle fest in past games, And the way Daniher wheels around after recovering the ball and delivers it to Merrett is great!

And this Pendlebury goal is fantastic
