Wait, there are people here that DON'T think it looks like shit from the early 00's????

It looks terrible.

It looks exceedingly better than games that are 17 years old.

It's this sort of blind hyperbole from people who seemingly want the game to fail that really shits me.

Here's your early 2000s pal

Now Now lets not cherry pick AFL games which we know are ugly in any era, maybe he meant one of the big boys.

FIFA 2000

Nope still pretty ugly if you take off the rose coloured glasses and compare it to modern games (which is completely unfair).

For the billionth time in this thread we all know the limits of this game, Wicked Witch would have had a budget a fraction of what EA had for the FIFA game above let alone for FIFA 2017. Keep an open mind and a bit of hope, this may yet be an AFL game worth $80.... If not $100 :).

Its obviously hyperbole, doesn't change the fact that it looks like arse. Not just in polygon density, the animations look completely robotic.

Still, obviously not a hard sell for you folks. Why would the AFL bother putting the money in if people are happy with junk regardless...

Hey I'll be waiting for reviews and feedback in this thread before I even decide if I'll buy it or not, I bought the first two second hand from the bargain basement bin and barely got my $10 worth out of them, your hyperbole is still repeating the same **** that's half filled this thread all the way through.

Can you elaborate on polygon density for me. Please no hyperbole this time

I notice that you were in the Switch thread shitting it up and now you are in here shitting it up.

I'd bet my last dollar that you are one of those immature f***s on NeoGAF trolling up every thread.

Got to fill your time somehow, I suppose.

Meanwhile, the rest of us will continue enjoying things and living life.

Simply calling it arse is a lazy way to criticise the game without looking at the bigger picture, certainly you might say that certain animations look a bit awkward or a bit staggered, but that can be down to things such as budget and time. 2K headquarters probably have a department devoted to just animations, hence you might notice smoother movements across the board in the 2K games, because the huge budget means more time spent on specific detailing of the game...

The AFL don't put the same money in because it's technically a very small market compared to soccer and NBA basketball...

it's enough for leagues like AFL football and Rugby to still get some nice enough games developed with a team of developers that can do what they can with the scope they have....

Rugby games are pretty damn good now and AFL is a 360 degree and open game, so technically even more difficult to translate into a game environment so for that alone, hats off to Big Ant and Wicked Witch for giving it a go and putting in a fair amount of details and craftsmanship for the technical challenges involved in making a game that mirrors AFL football ...

Having a game come out on a PS4, next gen, is an achievement in itself..just like having two games on the pS3/xbox was also a pretty good achievement for a game that is played in five states of one country. It's technically still a very small league/sport compared to worldwide sports..

So if the game gets close to some of the bigger titles in some areas at all, its still a pretty big achievement...

For all the terrible comments by rude people who post on the official Facebook page, the developers and publishers simply do not deserve it at all, considering the big picture...

The fact a game exists at all on next gen, current gen, modern times, is an achievement in itself..

That AFL Live 1 & 2 exists at all is actually kind of unlikely in comparison to other global sports that have bigger followings.

You should be feeling amazing that any games exist at all on modern consoles, considering it's a pretty small league globally speaking.....

Im sick of people comparing this game to AAA titles like FIFA and NBA 2k, you will never EVER get an AFL game of that quality due to the budget differences, just be thankful that someone is actually trying to make an AFL game instead of bagging it because it doesnt look as good as FIFA or doesnt have the gameplay and commentary of NBA which cost millions of dollars more to make and sell millions more copies.
100% , i seriously cringe when i see morons on this thread and facebook complain about the most mundane things. No crowd on the hill? are you actually serious who cares if a bunch of 3d people are on a hill you wont look at for most of the game. Give these guys a chance, if they **** up this game big time then its ok to launch into them, but they have done a good job so far, that shouldnt be denied

Anyone else annoyed by the amount of blurriness for anything more than a metre away?

They have this in DBC17 and at times you can't see from end-to-end, doesn't make any sense.

Example:

It's also fairly prominent in the opening MCG cutscene, can anyone offer an explanation as to why this is done?
you're right , im holding a protest to ban this game from being sold unless this is fixed #wickedwitchout, please join me

Let's get one thing straight, I will never be thankful that AFL Live 2 was created, it was a crock of sh@t. WW created it, scanned faces and creation hubs are all well and good (and so far they look fantastic) but if gameplay is the same rubbish we were previously served up then nobody will be thankful for WW basically destroying any chance we had of being two versions along in a BigAnt universe. The trailer hasn't filled me with confidence this is that much further along than live 2 (apart from graphic upgrade) I can't see a whole new engine built from the ground up??! I hope I'm wrong but the lack of in game footage scares me greatly....but hey we are all excited and we should just be thankful for anything we are served up, even if it's garbage??? ..... Nah

One thing I'm finding in the stats is that a lot of the stats for one player are around the same amount. For example Andrew Gaff has great stats across the board which include his strength, tackling and kicking power (to name a few). One of the things I'll do is make a discrepancy between a player's best and worst stats hopefully (if it matters in the game) they become a little more specialised to the type of player they are in real life.
