Firstly....learn how to count. The games is 18 days away.
Secondly...you have a choice how you live your life...glass half full or glass half empty.
Most please in this forum spend their life running to the tap to fill up!

Firstly, had I said 3 weeks you would've bitched about that too.

Secondly, good engrish on that follow-up statement.

2 weeks and 1 day from now you will be calling for them to return also. Most believe the Game play will be a let down, which basically makes everything we have seen so far irrelevant. If it looks like AFL live 2 with improved graphics, smells like AFL Live 2 with improved graphics it will probably taste like AFL Live 2 with improved graphics....yuk

I don't believe that at all. I believe in not judging a book by its cover. I haven't played the game yet so I'll reserve my opinion until I do. It could be the worst looking but best playing AFL game ever for all we know

So we're two weeks out from AFL Evolution and even though none of us have played it, certain people are saying BigAnt should come along and make another Aussie Rules game to rival it, be better than it and eventually make AFL games again?

2 weeks out......the logic on this board sometimes..

It was Big Ant who said they want and need to make an AFL game, when Evolution had already been announced, lol.

Completely disagree
I would say the majority on here think the game looks quite good

We can't make a call on the gameplay until we've played it of course but the trailer has eased worries about WW and gameplay to some extent

We needed big ant to set the standard back in 2011 but if Evolution plays well then it's easily the best AFL game to date (nothing else would come close)

No ones played it, so you can't really compare it to Live 1 yet. I liked what I saw from the trailer, but it could easily be another flop gameplay wise.

Don't get me wrong gameplay is the most crucial element but I hope in career mode we can see what the players look like before we draft them. I don't think I can handle picking a 90 overall albino with grey hair. Full exposure too appearance and height/weight will be great. I've got my fingers crossed wicked witch may have finally delivered.

haha oh man, I remember drafting this absolute gem of a player in Live 2 only to see him run out on the ground in round 1 as a 200cm indigenous guy with a bright red mullet. Needless to say he was put on the trade table shortly thereafter.

I think the best that could happen is that it matches some of Live 1's core components, with some new gameplay features (selling the dummy, grub kicking) and new game modes.

From what we do know (game modes, fanhub, AFLW) it's the best game feature wise, the gameplay is the final and most crucial piece of the puzzle and then we'll see where it stands

Agreed with pretty much everything in your post bar this. It looks like 65% of the crowd is made up of the guys in the black jacket+beanie combo in the bottom left. It's a little jarring to me, kind of like Mootsy's abuse of ellipses once you see it you can't unsee it. Fortunately I don't really give a shit about how the crowds look, will undoubtedly still buy. How the crowd sounds will be more interesting
NBA 2k is the same, study the crowd long enough and you'll see the same models, Evolutions crowds are gonna look awesome during gameplay though

But I'm with you on the sound, something 2k does well is that deafening roar the crowd makes during close games so fingers crossed we've got something like that in Evolution (early signs from the trailer and Richmond vids are promising)

I can't be the only one that thinks Live 1 was just as flawed as Live 2. You basically had to be second to the ball because you'd just tackle the player and he'd drop it perfectly for you, there were almost more tackles than disposals, the CPU rarely missed set shots and the season mode was only 1 season. Anyone reading this thread would think it was a resounding success

I think at least part of the Bigant hype is actually a result of the very good games they have put out in the past couple of years. RLL3, DBC14 and their lacrosse game were all superior to any AFL game in a big way. Makes people look at AFL Live 1 as the starting point for a game of that quality.

That makes a lot more sense. I remember seeing the RLL3 trailer and feeling extremely jealous that we didn't have anything like that

Yeah all I've ever wanted for an AFL game is it to be as good as other niche codes get. Think we're almost there graphically with AFL evolution. I could easily believe bigant produced it (and frankly Wicked Witches facescans are superior to Bigant's by a long margin), it is actually a fairly large jump from the last gen.

Gameplay wise, if it's playable we've got a really solid AFL game on our hands. To be honest I never expected Wicked Witch to be able to pull that off. Even graphically they've exceeded expectations in my view.

AFL Live 1 is a great game that I still play today, I borrowed AFL Live 2 from a library 2 years after release and played it for 15 minutes.

The tackle fest could be avoided once you learnt how to space your players and move the ball. You could hit players on leads, move quickly through linked handballs, the team tactics actually did something, marking contests were about positioning and timing, it got so much right. Can't say I've experienced too much CPU accuracy, did you ever jump and distract on the mark?

The only issues were easy AI, set shots and lack of career mode, but I do believe it was a resounding success, and it's a benchmark that I'm 50/50 on WW beating.

Have we had a definitive answer as to whether we can edit the likenesses and ratings of in-game players without having to create a whole new custom league yet?

I can swap created players into the AFL lists without having to create a new league and can also move players out. Doesn't answer your question but that's what we know at this stage.

Who will you play your seasons with (other than your own team)? There's a few rules when choosing teams for franchise mode.

1. Lots of different looking jumpers. It sucks to look at the same jumper for every game.
2. You don't want to play under the roof at Etihad. You want varying conditions.
3. Choose a team with a wide range of players. Tall, quick, slow, short etc. Adelaide is the best team in it but it feels like they have 17 utilities who are 188cm 85kgs.

For me, Melbourne, Geelong and Port fit the billing.
