Does pre-ordering at JB guarantee that you will get the game on release day? I.e. can I pre-order and then pickup from a store that day?
That is the entire point of pre-ordering, yes.

To those who haven't looked, it's the original trailer from last Thursday, up on the main AFL page.

JB doesn't appear to have it for pick up in store on their website, only delivery. I imagine you could arrange to pick it up in store on the day if you preordered it in store, though.

What do you guys think the match objectives could be? Could that mean they brought back missions from Live 2004? If so that would be amazing to see

If it's in a pro match then I guess it'd be 'kick x number of goals' or 'have x number of disposals'

But in a regular match it might be more team related so how many goals your team can score, winning margin etc

the facebook experts have started their criticism.

It's painful reading on there. But that's just facebook nature. every single post these days by any major pages, you have to filter through tons of the criticising comments that people throw in for the likes just to find something positive (eg. anything Hawthorn related at all for the last 2-3 years).

I love the comment from an 11 year old kid " I understand the difference in budgets but people can do better sitting at home on there pc"

I'll never understand the willingness of people to act like idiots in Facebook comments. It is the one platform where you'd think people would be a bit smarter about what they write, considering your name, employment, family, etc is all tied to what you write. Yet some people seem to take it as a challenge.

Makes more sense for it in Player Career mode. Don't see much point for Team. Season objectives yes, but match would be tough to work out.

People are just idiots generally.

That's why the Chrisco thread on BigFooty exists.

Exactly! Unlike pages like bigfooty, where you can slag anyone off and most people will have no idea who you are, Facebook gives all your details unless you set it to private (which most people don't). My favourite facebookers are the ones that appear on the AFL pages slagging off Hawthorn and saying we are done and are crap etc. You click their profile and they have profile pictures with the hawthorn frame around it in 2016, now with a bulldogs or crows one.

Hardly anyone releases demos any more. Especially low budget games. If I remember correctly, more often than not a demo hurts sales anyway because it satisfies the initial curiosity and so many people decide not to purchase after playing a bit.
Difference is though, I don't think this game is a low budget one. In comparison to other sporting games, it does but they have the backing of the AFL. This game isn't being sold for $5-10, it's $70+.

Also in the age of YouTube and Twitch, the curious people would get their fix on there rather than pay $70+ just to have a look.

I swear Fifa and NBA 2k have demo's. And they're the 2 biggest sports games in the world. Absolutely no reason for this not to have one. Allow us to play the first half of the grand final replay, it's all that's needed.

Should we be expecting anything other than the giants video this week?

They did say they would be putting out more content in the next few weeks didn't they ?

You answered your own query when you mentioned "And they're the 2 biggest sports games in the world" we are talking about a low budget dev company here, one day in 5 years time if this is still backed by the AFL and they are pumping money into this company to develop this, we might see that happen. Until then dont expect much at all.

yeah i feel like with this demographic, people would just whine that the demo sucks and wouldn't buy it, would probably hurt sales. i know i have mates who are cheap campaigners and would just thrash the demo if they could

Yeah I think real gameplay footage (heavily edited) along with player reactions/ laugh track is about the best we can hope for to round out the promotion. To be honest that should be about enough and it's been a better build up than previous games.

Will be surprised if the video is this weekend more likely early next week leaving just a week till release and first reviews.
