AFL live was a big step ahead from Rugby League live so the annoying truth is that by now AFL live 3 by Big Ant would have been even better :(

Makes me so sad. If WW surprise the hell out of me and pull off an amazing game I'll be so happy. I just don't think they know footy well enough to do it if they tried their hardest. This game needs to be handed back to BigAnt.

Making an AFL games would be almost 100x more complex than a Cricket game, way more variables to program in just gameplay wise

Yep agree with this, especially trying to control what 36 players on the field are doing at any point in time.
WW have also recently made a cricket game on iOS, Shane Warne King of Spin. If that's any indication then we're in for a #%#% time. One word summary - woeful.

So... where we stand right now:

*Game is being made my WW and published by Tru Blu and is for current gen
*Game went up on the ratings board and was discovered by some fella who posted it on facebook
*Despite being slammed on their twitter and facebook (and probs here on Bigfooty) with photos of the rating asking for confirmation, WW and Tru Blu have stayed dead silent
*BGLMedia made a logo and posted in facebook and people have picked it up thinking it's the official logo > fake logo for a WW/Tru Blu product going around and they still haven't even said a word about that

Tru Blu the campaigners just need to announce something. Why stay dead silent when the cat's out of the bag? They must think we will forget and move on

They will have their announcement planned out, they don't need to say shit until they're ready to, who knows how far into production they really are, could just be a pipe dream at this point that they've secured rights for, could be deep into production and just about ready to launch, just leave them be to get themselves ready.

Based on past AFL titles, AFL Evolution should be released within 3 months from now. AFL Live 2 was classified in late June 2013 and released by mid September. AFL Live 1 was classified early March and released by the end of April. Even AFL Premiership 2007 was classified May for an end of June release. So we should have a new game out no later then January, just in time for the inaugral women's league. Is that a sign?

Did anyone notice how they didn't have Wicked Witch's logo in Rugby League Challenge 3, and of course AFL Live 2 back in the day? It seems like Tru Blu are trying to tell us something...

AFL for the Wii was classified in October 2010, but didn't come out until May 2011. This is from Wicked Witch, as well.

So why did BigAnt lose the rights in the first place? We've seen what they can do why did wicked witch get the job?

I think Ross more or less implied that Big Ant and Tru Blu couldn't come to terms on budget, time frame or both so tru blu offered it to WW

It's sort of interesting to think that WW weathered the storm of Live 2s rushed production and atrocious reception and have now perhaps been given (or demanded) 3 years development on the next instalment.

If we've waited 3 years there must be something good coming ........ Hopefully.

That's assuming they've spent all of the past 3 years developing the game, which I doubt. The budget needed to pay for 3 years of development would be too much for an Australian game, I'd assume.

They've also released a rugby game and a few IOS games in that time too, so i wouldn't be surprised if the AFL game has only seen 1-1.5 years dev

I would agree. I strongly doubt the development cycle will have been any longer than 12 months. I have no confidence this will be any better than AFL Live 2 (which I thought was dogsh*t). It's upsetting to see how good AFL could have been by now under BigAnt.

Live 1 was announced in 2008 and released in 2011 so were they just sitting on it for a year or two before starting development?

Also from tru blus point of view giving AFL to WW makes a tonne of sense, regardless of who comes cheaper Big Ant currently have NRL every 2 years, cricket every other year, continued instalments in Lacrosse and now tennis as well so it makes a bit of sense to spread the load a little (especially if WW are capable of something close to Big Ant quality with a decent budget/development time behind it)

Hey, don't get me wrong, I'm hopeful. But I'm also doubtful. I sincerely hope AFL Evolution is good (just give me a good game with a decent career mode with AFL Live 1 level gameplay and I'll be happy). A My Player mode would be a nice little bonus, too.

Anyone know if BigAnt have more money for game development than WW? This way we can know whether any of the features included in say DBC 17 can be afforded for AFL Evolution.

How the hell are we meant to know that? No one will know the answer to that question! How about people just wait till we get some sort if information/screenshots first instead of trying to figure out how much bloody money a company has

Thanks for LOLs. Never heard someone say that. Classic comedy. You should write a sitcom.

Not sure about the money but I can confirm they (BigAnt) have a way better track record, proven performance and basically aren't a deadbeat developer who talk to nobody when it comes to making games. Its kind of really important when making great niche games.

The important part you skipped over there was from tru blus point of view it makes sense and it does

You don't know the lack of communication from WW is their fault

Ross gave us a tonne of info during the development of Live 1 and tru blu apparently got pretty pissed about it and from then on he became a lot more vague

WW very well may have been told to keep quiet and therefore have done so

Afl Live 1 was awesome for a startthat was 2011!!! AHRGRHGHRG CAN you imagine in 2016 how good AFL live 4 would should be!?
They wouldve fixed ball spin, added a snap button, added drafts and stuff, better graphics but that awesome simple fifa like gameplay was spot on and would have been improved imo!!
Bigant had the basics right!! Ffs!!!

Stop comparing a cricket video game to an AFL video game
Two completely different tasks, one way more difficult

Why? Not talking about gameplay. I'm talking about features such as player career modes, headlines, status selection ect. Can be implemented into an AFL game, nothing to do with cricket.

But all that stuff is useless if the gameplay is woeful
I can guarantee you that if this AFL game is using a new engine (which is should be, considering its the first next gen game) it will not have an in depth career mode at all. The first edition is about getting a game with solid gameplay (which is what I think DBC achieved) and then you add all the other bells and whistles in future editions
