could just as easily been an sa gf but port are up there too.

the afl and its victorian apologists that always tell us its about money - in the season where money is more important than ever before - held the season in the state that out of the three realistic choices - would make them the least money.

the same afl that for years has skewed the comp by giving vic teams double ups against collingwood - because it makes bulk cash - all of a sudden are worried about the integrity of the comp when north want to play a home game in perth - a city where they have a lot of support and in a cash strapped season they would get a windfall.

they arent even pretending anymore - its all about the big vic clubs 1st and second and their expansion clubs 3,4 and 5th
The season hasn't favoured VIC clubs though, they would be the teams most worse off in 2020.

Do you not think the politics and government restrictions and distribution of teams and accomodations in each state is probably more sensible suggestion as to why things were what they are rather than an anti Eagles conspiracy?

Well there's always six-day breaks to complain about, at least.
Fantastic logic that....

Because the AFL had the same financial circumstances it had 12 months ago. Nothings changed or anything on that front
Ok you got me, the AFL really is desperate for every extra dollar. That's why the Saints are playing at AO and the grand final is in Perth. Oh waiiit, turns out neither of those things are happening. Kinda makes a mockery of everything you've said.

According to the AFL website it's being played at the Gabba, dunno why people can't at least wait a day or something to see everything totally confirmed but yeah nah let's get OUTRAGED instead. Bunch of sooks.

Maybe the outrage forced the AFL to fix it.

Great news for St Kilda.

This is disgraceful.

The AFL made their position clear. Victorian teams can elect to play their home final at either Metricon, Adelaide Oval or The GABBA. The Eagles won the right to host a home final, they get to choose. Yet the Saints have been forced to play theirs at Adelaide Oval.

Brett Ratten confirmed on AFL360 tonight - The Saints nominated the GABBA. Staying in the one state, most likely the one ground would give them the opportunity to build consistency and familiarity on a surface the Grand Final will be hosted on.

This inconsistency will be met with supporters of other clubs venting their prior frustrations about their own club, but how would you ever expect the AFL to genuinely change, focus on integrity when the narrative is always deflected and the current issue isn't brushed aside by opposition supporters cause its not their club?

I genuinely feel for St Kilda and their supporters. The AFL released a statement confirming Victorian teams could choose and they've backflipped.

I'm also outraged... Wait

I'm sure the Eagles would prefer to play Geelong at Adelaide Oval in the semi-final if that's the matchup that occurs, but since Geelong finished higher, they'd get to choose the ground, right? If I were them, I'd choose the Gabba.

Love the AFL trying to make out that Adelaide Oval was St Kilda's 2nd preference as a way of sharing the blame around. Calling Bullshit on that one!

Well I don't know about St Kilda's preference being that. But my preference order was certainly GABBA, AO, Metricon

Saints have not played well at Metricon and added to that Dogs are hubbed at the Gold Coast and so have virtually no travel time to Metricon vs the 3/4 hour bus ride that the Saints have to take from Noosa.

the government restrictions in wa were a two week hotel quarantine.

remember that big break we had between game 1 and 2

theres your two weeks.

after that they would be able to do everything we can - which is more than qld.

they wouldnt have been cooped up in hotels and they could have fans at their games unlike qld where even when fans are allowed - they dont come.

they would have optus, the waca, and leederville and joondalup arenas for smaller teams

they would have had crowds all year and small clubs and big clubs would be making money on games.

Funnily enough it wasn't even dogs and saints fans upset but yes, just the usual culprits. Eagles fans. Talk about whiners

I guess there wasn't enough outrage to force the AFL to fix the 2004 Prelim debacle. At least it was fixed for the next year onwards though!

Victoria was down to 1 or 2 cases a day by early June when they restarted the comp, some days it was zero.
NSW similar.
They thought they would be able to play the rest of the season as normal home and away games, they weren't going to shift the whole comp to Perth just in case Daniel Andrews stuffed up the quarantine hotels and then reinfected NSW and Qld.
As it turns out the genomic sequencing data they released showed that the first wave was defeated with the last confirmed case on May 30. Everything from then on is from the quarantine stuff up.

There would have been no spring break on the Gold Coast though.

Even Eddie McGuire is getting into the spirit hitting the nightclubs.

Gil's more of a mornings guy.

Gil's out there by the Mercure pool everyday at 6am putting a towel over one of the pool chairs before heading back to bed until 10am (it's assumed it's Gil because it's monogrammed GM). By the time he rolls out of bed, eats his room service and gussies up his hair it's midday -- hence the delayed announcement of the finals fixturing today.

So Saints complain and AFL does the right thing? Must be nice, if only interstate teams got fairness too

Not that it matters, but viewing wise, it's a shame, Adelaide Oval is better than the Gabba.

its fairness - we are consistent whether its us or another team.

and theres plenty of saints fans piped up.

they are right to do so.
