It won’t happen but a Saturday arvo slot will draw an enormous amount of MCC members - could tip it into the early 90,000’sThey’d be crazy not to have Bulldogs vs Hawks in a night slot at the MCG. Preferably Friday night.
Whoever decided to put Port on a Thursday and the Battle of the Bridge on a Saturday night (which gives certain teams much more rest time than others, and the Sydney final also clashing with NRL finals) is a complete and utter banana.
You would think it would have been much simpler to put the Sydney Derby on the Thursday. So 5/8 ranked teams get 1 day more rest advantage over 1/4 ranked teams for week 2?
Saturday afternoon is by far the best time to play a final. It won’t happen but a Saturday arvo slot will draw an enormous amount of MCC members - could tip it into the early 90,000’s
I would LOVE a red ball Elimination Final at the MCG
Nothing better than a sunny afternoon final.Saturday afternoon is by far the best time to play a final.
SameMy predictions:
Thur 7.30 Port v Geelong
Fri 7.40 Bulldogs v Hawks
Sat 3.20 Sydney v GWS
Sat 7.30 Brisbane v Carl/Freo
We'll find out soon!
Tom Morris reporting the following on Footy Furnace after speaking to clubs:
Thursday night: Port Adelaide v Geelong
Friday night: Bulldogs v Hawthorn
Saturday afternoon: Sydney v GWS Giants
Saturday night: Brisbane v Carlton
Tom believes the Dogs are not happy and did not want to play Friday night because it clashes with their AFLW game.
Could have 3 rematches of 2016-Thursday N Sydney Swans vs GWS QF at SCG, 40,000
Friday N Port vs Geelong QF at AO, 45,000
Saturday A (2:30PM) Western Bulldogs vs Hawthorn EF at MCG over 90,000
Saturday N Brisbane Lions vs Carlton EF at G, 33,000
I think the winners will be GWS, Port, Western Bulldogs and Carlton in an upset.
I say the loser of Port vs Geelong will go out in straight sets so the Bulldogs may see another prelim from outside the top 4 this year and there is a chance they'll have the classic rematch of 2016 vs GWS.
huh? NRL finals start 1 week after the AFL finals.Whoever decided to put Port on a Thursday and the Battle of the Bridge on a Saturday night (which gives certain teams much more rest time than others, and the Sydney final also clashing with NRL finals) is a complete and utter banana.
