So 5/8 ranked teams get 1 day more rest advantage over 1/4 ranked teams for week 2?

They’d be crazy not to have Bulldogs vs Hawks in a night slot at the MCG. Preferably Friday night.

It won’t happen but a Saturday arvo slot will draw an enormous amount of MCC members - could tip it into the early 90,000’s

Whoever decided to put Port on a Thursday and the Battle of the Bridge on a Saturday night (which gives certain teams much more rest time than others, and the Sydney final also clashing with NRL finals) is a complete and utter banana.

Think it be something like this - gives the QF losers a slight advantage over the EF Winners

Thursday night (7.30pm) - Syd vs GWS @ SCG
Friday night (7.40pm) - Bris vs Carl @ Gabba
Saturday afternoon (3.20pm) - Port vs Geel @ AO - this time will also allow Geelong to fly home on same day if they lose
Saturday night (7.40pm) - WB vs Haw @ MCG

Then would allow week 2 to be - all teams to have at least 7-day break

Friday night - Syd/GWS vs Bris/Carl
Saturday night - Port/Geel vs WB/Haw

If the Sportsbet leak of all four matches is correct then that's terrible fixturing.

Unfair to the loser of Swans v Giants to get 1 day less of rest before playing the lower ranked winner of Brisbane v Carlton the following week. Both those games should've been on Saturday.
