I don't think this has been mentioned anywhere here yet (Apologies if it has)

I hardly noticed the umpires on Saturday, so credit where credit is due, I think they did a pretty damn good job.

In such a tight contest it may have been possible for the umpires to dictate the outcome but I really think they did a terrific job. :thumbsu:

I agree, I thought the umpiring was quite good. There were one or two decisions that I thought should have been paid both ways, pushes in the backs or holding the ball, but they were 50/50 so was probably best to just let em play.

Fantastic umpiring and pretty rare for Razor to not have a say :thumbsu:

I thought apart from their unwillingness to pay holding the ball, and the fact they put Lenny Hayes 2 metres closer to goal then he should have been, the umpire did a "decent" job, especially considering the pressure they were under.

I'm not unhappy about having the same 3 umps, it could be way worse.

This.

The in the back + high tackle on Leon was a pretty glaring miss. Milne's first goal would have been a free to O'Brien in any other game, including other finals.

I'm hoping for some crunching 4th man up against McEvoy this time around.

I would like to point out they I don't think they were perfect.

No group of umpires has ever been perfect nor will they ever be. I just didn't notice them all that much which is a massive win in this case. There were a few frees that could have gone either way but I don't think they influenced the match at all.

I hope for more of the same this week.

It was a draw, every single one influenced the match.

Now, now, now. Jeff Gieschen has repeatedly says they don't have rules of the week. Those 3242432 50's the week after the break were just a coincdence.

Thought the umps were good.

Reckon there were a few dodgy calls...but I thought overall they were a non-factor.

The milney mark was 50/50. As long as we are not penalised for something similar this week, then I'm happy to let that go.

I also don't mind if holding the ball is relaxed.

You would prefer them not paying frees as opposed to paying them.

Its true that no game will be perfect from am umpiring point of view, but I thought they were as good as it gets. Just when we were getting used to the 'in the back', 'chopping the arms' and red hot 'holding the ball' and 'diving on it' decisions. All we ask for as spectators is consistancy and a bit of common sense. What I want to know is, why can't games be ump'ed like this every round?

i noticed the push on o'brien, non-holding the ball decision against baker.

These two, non-calls were as clear as day:mad:.
Also, Didak got tackled by Goddard who then kicked him in the head whislt two other Saints jumped on his head aswell. After that he had little impact in the game:mad:

They let to much of it go..
Didak getting buried into the turf
Harry O not getting a free from milne for hands in the back
Blair not getting a 50 when dawson punched him and then hits the post
crucial times where the scores couldve change...

Milne's push in the back was a bit iffy but the only one I was really pissed off about was Jolly apparently blocking kozi in the ruck.. If that is the rule it's a shit one. Kozi just went straight into his back and Jolls held his ground and got penalised for it..

can't believe no one is talking about the johnson goal that was called touched.
Clearly a foot past the posts when it was touched. Cost us the game in the end.

Nah it wasn't. Clearly touched.

Was directly side on with it but there was only centimeters in it.
