Is it possible to screen mirror from samsung s7 to a sony tv, not that I would as that would breach copyright, but I heard when through wifi direct mirroring the resolution is terrible on the telly.
Tried it on IOS, and it's terrible.

Anyone know if I can register a prepaid sim with Telstra, buy like a $30 prepaid voucher, and then get the live pass free for the season?

I'm on a plan with Optus.
Telstra mobile customers can watch every AFL game live and data-free with an AFL Live Pass for the 2017 season included in all Telstra mobile plans or when you maintain a $30+ recharge.

Im on prepaid and just got on
You couldnt do it last year.

Probly a dumb question and probly been answered but last week I was able to activate the free season pass for the first time and I've checked the details and it says it ends in about a month, so am I only getting this for free for a month since it's not technically the 2017 season yet or because I'm a Telstra customer I should get it free anyway for the rest of the year?

Note 5 has no HDMI guessing later phones like S7 dont. S4 did. Ipad shouldn't be a problem, but you probably need one of those "apple" cables that cost a fortune

Australian internet is far too shitty to stream 1080p on mobile, upload 1080p, and then have the Chromecast download 1080p all at the same time, unfortunately.

Ok i got watch afl working from my iphone airplaying to my apple tv 4 and it was pretty good quality and didnt buffer in the half hour i watched. I had to use a vpn on both devices for it to work. Any other aussies been successful with an easier method.

Does anyone use the apple "lightning to hdmi" adaptor for this? If so what is the quality like? I am thinking of getting one but $75 for a cable seems a bit rich. I could also run ipad through laptop and into tv with a "mini display port to hdmi" cable, which is about $12. Just wondering if anyone has tried either and which would have the better result.

Ive done the "mini display port to hdmi" cable thing and it is hit and miss. Used to work all the time, now its a lottery whether it will work or not. Probably better off just buying a 2nd hand AppleTV unit. Im going to use an old AppleTV 3 unit this year.

Are there any other OS supporters that are waiting to receive their live AFL pass voucher from their club??

yep! Currently waiting, going to send them an email tonight and see what's going on, although a few people seemed to have answered the question on the previous 2-3 pages.

Here is a 2 minute sample of the WatchAFL service. A few points

The stream stutters on Chrome and doesn't work at all using Edge but is perfect on Firefox
The same stutter existed on the web browsers on both my Sony TV and LG TV
The delay between FTA and the stream is around 15-20 seconds
Presently the highest available quality is 5.4mbps however it should go as high as 7

I've concluded the best way to get this running on a TV is to either
1. Run it on a laptop plugged into the TV via HDMI or;
2. Get an x86 mini PC like a NUC or Compute Stick and connect to the device via VNC

The advantage of doing either of those for users planning on using a VPN is that you will isolate the VPN service to the device so you don't hinder the rest of your network like you would if you configured the VPN at the router (which is also quite a technical process). I am going to go with option 2 and have just purchased a Compute Stick here

Overall I think the service is excellent. The quality is more than satisfactory and given effectively what you are buying is the Fox Footy Channel plus on-demand games plus on-demand panel shows I think it is absolutely value for money

Thanks, does this advice apply if watching the live pass from Oz? (sorry - bit of a novice). I have just been watching on an Ipad the past few years and looking for a better way. Happy to get a new device as it's still cheaper than Foxtel

If your the kind of person who is prepared to spend time maybe try googling Wagner Electronics and you can email them for price on what you want. Their mostly trade importers and suppliers and low service but a local company who specialise in this sort of stuff. I have no connection of course.
