u can mirror with second gen CC from afl live app?
Mirror the phone's screen. You can't car from the app but you can mirror the phone. Only difference between mirroring and casting is that your tv will show everything that happens on your phone while mirroring, whereas casting (which you cannot do from the app) runs the media independently so you can continue to use your phone for other things

The fact that the app on the iPad with the new rights agreement will no longer show full screen (limited to 7" diagionally) has finally made me give in get get Foxtel to watch the games (Foxtel Play over IP). The side bonus is the cricket in India at the moment!

I am currently currently running the free trial version of Watch afl with VPN and the video quality is great.
Although I am having troubles casting from Iphone to tv via chromecast as there is just a screen that says 'cast from a phone or tablet' but it is apparenlty already casting from my phone.

Anyway, anyone know where I can get the cheapest price for a yearly subscription of Watch Afl?

Ive had the same issue. i think its due to the app being "restricted" to o'seas use, the chromecasts location needs to be set to a location not Australia. Only way ive had it working was with the chromecast and iphone both using a vpn.

Just opened on iPad for first time on the year. Fact not giving full screen more than a little annoying. Is this the reason? No way to get around?

What an absolute f***ing joke this thing is.
My 66 year old grandma (glasses for both short and long sidedness, blind as a bat without them) used this a bit last year (she doesn't have Foxtel, tried but the lazy c***s decided that they couldn't be bothered hooking the settelite cables up to her tv that is wall mounted) and had no issues seeing it, but now having experienced it myself I'm almost certain that she won't be able to follow the play on the screen.
The only thing that makes it a bit better is that she's a Telstra customer and didn't actually pay for the live pass, but I feel sorry for those who actually paid the $90 for the year and get a 7 inch screen without being told prior to buying it.

As someone who's just spent a lot of time updating my companies customer contracts in light of the new unfair contract regime I'm fairly certain people would have a good case for a full refund if you paid the $90 on the automatic renewal subscription model

Wow. I had assumed that was a bug when I first heard about it weeks ago. Can't believe an iPad isn't considered a device and Therefore gets full screen.

Ok i know this is a dumb question, but anyone have any idea of there is a way to boost the stream quality when using afl app...casting to 4k ultra hd (75 inch) in the quality is horrendous.
Take a time machine to 2050 and cross your fingers.

So -- is there a verdict on whether Airplay/Apple TV option works to stream it through TV from iPhone?

Does anybody know how you can see the qtr by qtr scores on the AFL app? I can go to matches and see the current/full time score but can't click anything to bring up qtr by qtr? Just basic stuff like this drives us up the wall....

If someone you know has the afl live pass coz they're a telstra customer, could you use their telstra log in info on your phone even if your not with telstra to watch it?

On the ipad to get it fullscreen you have to trick it.

Go to settings, general, accessability:
Turn on: zoom
Zoom region: full screen zoom
Adjust zoom level slider: magnify level will depend on your ipad size, adjust it as needed. Prob around 2x.

Then when your in the AFL app, make it go "full screen" where you will see a 7" picture and a bunch of black space. Use 3-finger tap to intiate screen zoom. Use 3 fingers to move it into place if its not centered properly.

Congratulations, you now have full screen video and the AFL can go shove 3 figures up their ass instead of reaching around for yours.

I imagine this would be quite blurry? Still probably better than a tiny screen.

Its not much different and since you can sit further back it balances out. Looking at their fullscreen replay videos, i think they just limit the scale to 7" when live rather than streaming at a lower resolution. Zooming looks about the same as the replay quality, which looks like the same 7" video just enlarged to fullscreen. I have an ipad pro 12.9" screen and it was fine. It means you can set it up and watch it like you would any other video rather than have your nose 5cm away from the screen squinting for 2 hours. Beggers cant be choosers and its a decent work around if you got the free telstra subscription. You should be rioting at AFL HQ if you paid for it thou, AFL should be giving it away with that 7" limitation instead of letting a commity of lawyers brainstorm a dumb condition to pass their contract negotiations - and still not getting it locked down beacuse they forgot accessability settings they cant get around because a different set of lawyers made apple put a zoom function in their software to assist people with bad eye sight. :drunk: Murdoch BTFO.

It should also work for screen mirroring via airplay to appletv since you can fill the screen and adjust zoom level to fit the tv. I dont have an appletv to test it but if you can get the mirror working at the limited scale, zooming will work to enlarge it.

Where are the ****ing shows? No fear that they'd get them up in a reasonable amount of time.
