What is the final 12?
Presumably the 12 players who polled most votes from their peers.

Just heard Heppell say he voted Joel Selwood, prompting Robbo to say at least it's not a donkey vote for Ablett

Is that even a real thing. The AFLPA site put articles of the teams nominees. 3 from each club.

Heppell the Captain, with Gunston as VC

I heard it said that in past years it was a by the way type of process where the club official would pass around voting slips to payers at the end of a team meeting and ask them to vote

Yep and those 3 nominees are the highest vote getters for each club.

AFL360 just showing how it is a flawed voting system. Ablett voted for his good mate selwood and lewis for his good mate Franklin. Yes they are worthy winners if they happen to win but friendships play to big a part.

Any award that is voted on at seasons end and not week-to-week basis is flawed anyway. If your early season form was outstanding and another players late season form was just as good, more often than not the late season form player will get the votes (unless you decide to vote for a mate from another side)

with the bias hat on Longer had 40 more hit outs in 4 less games, tough bench to get on though, Swallow and Ellis were better than the majority of those on field
