Sniper McClure has seen a quick opportunity to 'kick' the club again.

"Speaking on 3AW Sportsday, AFL reporter Sam McClure said the league was looking into Walker’s comments.

“It’s my understanding that the AFL are not happy and are looking into those comments,” McClure said.

“He’s essentially questioning the integrity of the Match Review Officer. I think it’ll be stronger than a please explain.

“All I can tell you is that the AFL are not happy about it."

It's a shallow below the belt swipe from a small minded serial stalker.

"It's my understanding," gives away the reliability of his source..."I think it'll be"..."All I can tell you"...no substance at all...pathetic.

OK just so its 100% clear.

AFL Media Employees can bash the MRO system within an inch of its life on a daily basis.
AFL Clubs have the right to argue each and any decision made by the MRO.
The AFL can go over the MRO when it wants i.e the David McKay collision

Yet a player that's been intentionally kicked by a player (an action that to my knowledge has always been dealt with by suspension) can be punished for questioning why the player kicking him received a ruling that doesn't involve suspension?

Yep, that seem about right.

Reminds me a bit of the old Rucci constant attempts at undermining. Who wants to bet McClure was the one to ask the AFL if they were concerned over the comments?

If this is the one source of the AFL being unhappy, it is BS.

Purely an opinion piece and just McClure sinking the boots in.

No basis at all.

With the ongoing criticism of the stand rule, the dissent rule and now the MRO, this is looming as a sh**show of a year for the AFL

Fortunately for them, they’ll have a new CEO by the end of it. Perfect opportunity for that person to push the reset button and turn these issues around

That person needs to do that

I think Tex is genuinely fed up with all the penalties he’s had over the years. As opposed to precious-protected-Cotchin, who seems to be getting away with a lot of shit, that most others would be penalised for.

FWIW, that kick from the boot with studs up at Tex’s legs was potentially dangerous with possibility to cause shin splints, fractures or puncture wounds. It deserved a harsher than a $2000 fine, which is hardly anything relative to the salary that Cotchin has.
Walker should realise the spotlight is shining directly on him. He just needs to shut the hell up and let things settle down.

He should have gone the full 9 yards and made a request that the umpire report Cotchin on the day. But I will take publicly acknowledging the incident occurred as a change for the better with these things.

Edit: I have seen some (neutral) others suggest Walker's comments could be interpreted as him complaining about the severity of his sanction, rather than the lack of one on Cotchin. It won't happen, but he should definitely double-down with a clarification/apology for any misinterpretation, and explicitly point the finger at Cotchin.
Tex definitely pointed out out to both the controlling umpire and 4th umpire at the time

It's going to be peak comedy if they ban Tex for a game or two for questioning the decision meanwhile Cothin gets off scot free for the literal act in question.

He won't get a ban, but he will be reprimanded and a fine, which he should. But he should be happy, because he took one for the team and called out the AFL's pro richmond bullshit, no doubt trying to pander to their 100k fake members who come and go more than an Elizabeth baby daddy. Now the AFL has no choice but to correct itself after the media joined Tex and echoed his sentiments.

Is there anything more VFL than this?

Player deliberately kicks another player with studs up - Victorian team Captain, so yeh nothing to see really.

Player questions the VFL - all hell breaks loose! How dare he question the almighty? Who does he think he is?

The VFL have become such a dictatorship it's no longer funny.

Particularly because the Cotchin penalty was based on low actual harm rather than high potential harm, whereas a Tex penalty would be based on high potential harm (undermining the MRO process if everyone questioned their decisions) rather than immediate actual harm
